Fraudulent Prime Shipping

I have ordered a lot of stuff from Amazon over the years, and have paid for Prime membership for several years. This year, when I noticed that more and more my orders were not coming on time, I realized that even though I was supposed to get "free 2 day shipping" at checkout my anticipated date to receive the item ordered was often much later than 2 days. There is no way to see this until final checkout because at the product page it doesn't say out of stock or back-ordered or anything like that. When I called, after one order I needed right away didn't come for a couple of weeks, customer service said that "free 2 day shipping" does not mean "your item arrives in 2 days." While this makes logical sense, since most of my orders had come in 2 days, for many years, this was surprising and disappointing. When I asked about this, customer service said "yes, a lot of customers are confused about this. It seems to me that if a lot of customers are confused about this, Amazon should do something about it. Either state clearly their policy at the product description or stick to the 2-day arrival expected by me and many other customers. I think the fact that they do not do this is fraud.
