I used to appreciate AppSumo but not anymore

I used to greatly appreciate AppSumo, but I am becoming increasingly concerned about its trustworthiness. I have many products that cut off my access after one year, once my 1-year protection expires. I have lost a lot of money because of this.

I still pay for the AppSumo membership, but after a year of purchasing products from them, I lose all the access to, and AppSumo does nothing. Given the risk of permanently losing your money once the refund period has ended, I would now advise avoiding AppSumo.

Some products they actively promote are offered by companies that engage in questionable business practices, raising money and then disappearing. Is like crypto scam, after they fill their pockets they abandon all the investors.

I got plus membership account with them…

I got plus membership account with them a year ago x/11/2024. Later, my account got hacked. I reported to them. They banned my account even i give my support doc, and I even offered to submit my bank statement to claim back my account. Ended up i lost all my access to my purchase list as some items I bought for trial, and I plan to cancel them. I give up this banned account. I lost thousands of dollars. Not easy to deal with their support team. Their support team behaved like you were talking to god. A year later, they still charged me plus membership (APPSUMO PLUS M4 AUSTIN USD 99) via my credit card on my banned account. I lodged a report with them with my new Plus membership. After so-called fast lane (super slow response and inefficient) support, as I m the plus membership still need to wait like 1-2 weeks before they get back to me. I have experience with other SAAS platforms, got account access problems. Normally, within a day or two will get it solved nicely with a polite attitude. Back to my case, after I follow up with them on multiple emails, this is their response. "Hello, We can confirm we will not charge for a Plus renewal. Future messages will be closed without a response." When I asked for proof. They just keep ignoring my emails. Please stay away from this scam platform. From their new software release or new arrival, you will see that not many sellers and users are keen to do business or buy from them anymore. Please keep yourself away from them. Dealing with their technical team like you are dealing with god. No solution given. Only they talked and responded like shit. Save your money from this scammer and buy from other platforms. They only want your money.

as long as you are appsumo member get refunds, as it expires all you bought CANNOT BE REFUNDED anymore. after buying tens of ltds, and spending thousands of dollars!! with no prior way to know that there wont be refundables anymore! very not transparent, @noah I bought and read your book, follow you on social media, why is this scam happening from a company that should deliver Value?

Love the lifetime approach!

Love the lifetime approach to low prices. It eases the headaches about recurring payments if I don't use the app for a month or two. I feel like at a juicy marketplace, not for food, but for apps. Happy to explore and get more of the offers. Currently, I use TidyCal and KingSumo - both are so easy to use! I don't have time to learn all the features of the other apps, but at AppSumo, everything seems just so simple and easy to accomplish. I recommend them. Also, the support is very kind and quite fast.

lifetime deals are great

I love being Sumo-ling. Customer service is great. Noah and Appsumo made this world a better place. Buying lifetime deals is easy as breeze and giving that shot of dopamine. I read a few 1 stars comments down here and they didn't make much sense to me. I got X (not disclosing) deals, and most of them were gems. Some of them didn't, and that's normal; I am an early adaptor, things may go south. But I was offered the money back, or coupon if the 1 year warranty was over already. After all, The software could pay for itself if focused on it and offering services with it. Good luck cooking!

AppSumo - Timely Treasures - Thoughtful Support

I am an AppSumo Plus member and enjoy the perks and benefits of this membership. Whenever I have a question – the response has been timely and professional.

Recently, they intervened when a product redemption was troublesome and helped get me access – all with pleasant, thoughtful, responses. And, if I have a follow-up question, they have shown themselves to be concerned about getting to a place of clarity – without ambiguity.

I enjoy AppSumo and am grateful for the opportunity to purchase software and apps at substantially lower prices than subscriptions.

A must have for any entreprenaur looking to bootstrap business and find quality software that helps you compete with more established players.

They also refund within 60 days and customer service is fantastic

Great place for software for SMB

I've been buying stuff on AppSumo since 2016, and although some platforms have closed, in the grand scheme of things it's a great way to access software that as a small business we wouldn't have access to.

Most of the times I feel support does their best to help us, and i appreciate this.

Not what it once was; now a marketplace for scammers.

Wow, another two tools that disappeared without notice. Not only did the tools disappear, but their websites remain online as if they are still operational, despite the service being discontinued. Not a single email, nothing. WarpIndex, one of them, went down in less than a year, and Human Presence was left to add bloat to my sites without any benefit. If you look at their sites, they still appear active. I am very suspicious that AppSumo has something to do with this pattern, which repeats with so many tools only on AppSumo—perhaps to avoid refunds?

Beware!!! Crime Platform

Beware!!!
I purchased on Jun 26, 2024 & had issues to redeem it. I applied instantly both to the seller & appsumo. Both on mail tickets & product feedback. I was completely ignored by the seller (MixAudio), I was ignored by appsumo & even banned from review & response.
On Nov 18 2025, I received & advert for a product & because I clicked & had a look at it, they automatically sent me a more 'personal' email asking why i didn't purchase. I decided to reply & mentioned what happened. Surprisingly, I got a response from Dylan, saying they'll resolve it. However, guess what...? Promises is one thing & apply is another thing... These people are thieves. Now he claims I had to apply 'om time' "forgetting" that I did & that I was ignored & banned. Why? because I claim the truth... This is a co-operation with crime & they are co-criminals. They take advantage hiding behind the screen thousands of miles away.
Now I'm again completely ignored. You are a criminal Dylan!!! If not a direct thieve, there is no doubt you exploit & abuse!!!

I’ve been using AppSumo since the early…

I’ve been using AppSumo since the early days. I’ve bought many tools through the platform over the years.

In the beginning, there were some issues, which is expected with anything new. Today, the platform feels solid and well thought out. The variety of software available is strong, and the AppSumo Originals add real value for founders and operators.

It’s a reliable place to test new tools, support growing products, and find long term solutions at fair prices. I keep coming back because the platform keeps improving.

2024-2025: Bought 50 lifetime deals, about 46 failed, support was useless

From 2024 to 2025, I bought about 50 lifetime deals on AppSumo. In my experience, around 46 of them either died, froze, became painfully slow, or turned into something I could not rely on. That is not what most people think they are buying when the word "lifetime" is used.

Support made it worse. Replies were slow, the process dragged on, and I got sent back and forth instead of getting real help. When products fail, customers are left stuck.

After this experience, I do not trust AppSumo lifetime deals. I will not buy from them again.

This is worse than promising your kid we're going to Disneyland when you've already spent a good chunk of money on unlimited rides and you get to come back again for the same experience and when you get to front of the gate to enter and all the excitement is in the air about having a great deal/day then you are told hey Sorry you get to ride one time and forget about all the rest of the park because you will be running out of credit before you even start... SHAMEFUL

Appsumo you are going BACKWORDS, almost all of your customers come back for great deals because we are limited on how much we can spend spend and what we can purchase that can help us work on our plans and projects we set. This deal was questionable when Tier 4 was removed telling customer that Tier 4 was only for the first loyal customers and will honor the plan and keep it special for them and new comers will have up to Tier 3, and now the awful pop we get telling us, Ha Ha April/BlackFriday Fools Day, you just got pranked.

Yes I will have to get my money back, because it feels we got back lied to and I was very close to buying Qolaba and when I read the reviews I was like what is going on. The company will not break bank if they had a limited amount of purchases for these plans instead of entirely changing the deal to NOTHING...

From companies closing down after we purchase deals and now this puling the rug from underneath us after the fact. This is unacceptable. I see your future plans changing from lifetime to One-Time use deals and yearly subscriptions as we've seen a lot of them shifting to yearly gradually. We notice the pattern and this is not what Appsumo was built for.

If you see sales are going down, well the economy is not that good, everything is expensive and we are investing in these products to help us get a side hustle and the prices keep going up. Within 1 year your prices have gone up for returning and new items...

Yapper, what did you expect from an LTD deal? Honestly almost all customers get excited the first few months at most a year and their usage drops... if that spike scared you, then I suggest you don't get back in the LTD scene and we don't want your yearly sub deals or whatever deal you want to throw at us. You have failed us.

Do better vetting before allowing such deals to pass and disappoint.
