ARS installs a system, then doesn't fix it

When it came time to replace my HVAC system, ARS recommended an oversized system that they should have known could not be supported by the existing return ductwork size. Now the ductwork warps when the system comes on and off, making a loud banging sound, making the space unlivable. The ARS technician that came out to investigate the problem unprofessionally recommended that I learn to sleep through it. ARS's grievance department always tells me they are working on my problem, but no one EVER calls back, so this is just a deflection front to help them avoid responsibility for their mistakes.

A.R.S

A.R.S. RESCUE ROOTER
Dear Sir:
I am very disappointed with the way I was treated when I requested your services for my A.C. that was down.
On 11-20-2025 I installed a new A.C. unit B-RHQN-CCCA-60152-00000
Rheem Classic A2L- 5.0 TON up to 15,2 SEER2 AC Condenser/Coil- 1-Stg Cond and I was charged $ 15,732.00
The previous unit that was installed by you on July 22, 2014, was Lenox 14ACX 060-230-14/1914F30818 and the total cost was $8,199.00 INVOICE 9131-Q97826.
I was completed shock about the price increase almost 100% of the previous one. I did some research and found that the cost of the unit rounds about 5,000,00 to 6,000.00$ and I was charged 15,732.00 with discounts?
I have been ARS customer since 2014 and this time I feel I was not considered as a returning customer as always uses your services for my needs.
And the price I am talking about is just for the unit (Condenser/coil not including furnace or other components.
I believe this time you took advantage of my age and situation make me believe that I was treated very well with the discounts offered.
I am sorry but I am not happy at all and request a clear explanation of your Labor cost because I cannot understand the huge difference between the cost of the unit and the cost of the unit installed.
Hoping to hear from you soon,

Terrible, Awful, No Good

Worst service experience I've ever had in the entirety of my life. I will NEVER use this company again.

The technician who arrived parked in my driveway in a manner that blocked access to my garage, which was the first bad sign.

In addition, the technician’s overall presentation and conduct during the visit made me very uncomfortable. He appeared physically unwell and had significant difficulty walking. The strong odor of his cologne was overwhelming, and toward the end of the visit he laid down on my floor to complete his documentation, explaining that his sciatica pain was severe. While I can be empathetic to personal health issues, this behavior was highly unprofessional and inappropriate in my home.
As a result of these circumstances, I did not feel comfortable or confident in the service recommendations that were provided. He suggested that the problem was the "high limit switch," which might have been partially to blame before he arrived. It certainly was the problem after he left because the unit completely went haywire after his inspection. He quoted me $495 for labor once the part arrived.

Avoid my mistake and consider using a more reputable, independent technician. This godawful experience cost me $119, but I learned a valuable lesson to never use this awful company again.

I had an extremely disappointing…

I had an extremely disappointing experience with ARS. Our thermostat stopped working, so we called them to diagnose the issue. The technician who came out was unprofessional and seemed unsure — they immediately claimed our AC was broken and suggested a full replacement without properly explaining or troubleshooting the problem.

On top of that, their customer service hotline was frustrating to deal with. It took four months of calls, back-and-forth, and delays just to get the issue resolved. Overall, the process was slow, disorganized, and stressful. I would not recommend ARS based on my experience.

RESCUE ROOTER NOT FOR ME

December 22, 2025 - Install Date
Overall we were pleased with the original installation of our $13,427 Troy Heat Pump because we finally had heat in our house. But after what seemed to be a pretty straightforward installation, the next day I was filling out the paperwork and survey and it was a rather warm day so I decided to turn on the air conditioning instead of the heat and realized there wasn’t any cold air coming out of our vents inside our house. And I do remember that Jason, the main technician on the job, (he told me he had been doing this for about 4 years, and the other guy was only with the Company for about 6 months), had only checked the hot air coming out of our vent in the bathroom. And I know this for a fact, because I was with him when he was doing this. I’m sure it was an honest mistake, but being as experienced as he was, it shouldn’t have happened. So now we were going to be even more inconvenienced for who knows how long because of the Christmas holidays? So we had to go without air conditioning until someone could come out after Christmas and that ended up being not until Friday, December 26, 2025 . . . FOUR MORE DAYS!
December 26, 2025 - A technician by the name of Terry came out and he was very nice and knowledgeable. We explained to him everything that had occurred within the original installation and he said he understood and he would get it fixed as soon as he could figure it out. At some point after our conversation, he tells my husband that the problem is with our own Braeburn Thermostat and that the Troy Heat Pump that was installed by your Company can’t communicate with our Braeburn Thermostat. Therefore, we were going to have to SPEND MORE MONEY to buy a SMART THERMOSTAT in order for it to work with our Troy Heat Pump that already comes with a SMART THERMOSTAT! We were originally given a choice to keep our Braeburn Thermostat or install the Honeywell Smart Thermostat that comes with the Troy Heat Pump and we chose to keep our own Braeburn Thermostat because we’re used to it and there’s nothing wrong with it!!! After a bit of arguing on my husband’s end, and me apologizing afterwards and also my insistence that this is in no way our fault/problem, we were told he was going to install the Honeywell Smart Thermostat that came with the Troy Heat Pump, without charging us for it. But he had to call a few different people to “get permission” to do this without charging us!!! Of which we shouldn’t have been charged for it in the first place had the original technicians, Jason being one of them, checked it out to begin with!! Oh how frustrating this has already been!!! On top of that, after Terry was finished with everything, I asked him if there was a warranty on the Honeywell Smart Thermostat he just installed and he said that it comes with a 1-year warranty. Our last thermostat, the Braeburn Thermostat, came with a 5-year warranty, so that’s the reason why I asked about the warranty. He said he never tells anyone about the warranty for the Honeywell Thermostat unless they directly ask him about it. I told him that that’s not right and that he should be telling every customer that there’s a warranty on the Honeywell Smart Thermostat and that it’s for 5-years. It’s very important he does this because you never know when something might happen and you’ll need to know about the warranty so you can get it fixed. He didn’t seem to care. And he didn’t give me any paperwork for it or even the box, which I thought was a little strange. So I asked him for it and he went outside to where he had left it on the ground next to our Troy Heat Pump. Also left behind is an old-looking roller ball type object, a bunch of gray plastic tubing, and a bag of extra large white zip ties. So the original technicians didn’t clean up very well before they left. So it all boils down to the original installation. If they had just done everything they were supposed to do, we could’ve avoided a lot of wasted days, money and time in this whole process. Needless to say, we’re not that impressed with your Company and wouldn’t recommend you to anyone, especially with how much we had to pay for the Heat Pump. Overall , we’re very unhappy!!!

They wasted 10 hours of my time waiting for them to show up on 2 separate days with no communication or explanation ! After the second time I called back to let them know how awful they are and that I would never use them for anything again and their response was they wanted to have someone call me to explain...it's way too late for that! They wasted more time than I should have allowed already. I should have looked at the reviews before I called them. Trust me you don't want to waste your time with this company

I was ordering a replacement water…

I was ordering a replacement water heater from Lowes and typically install them myself. I saw an option to get a quote from their recommended service provider so I applied all details to inquire. They called me the very next morning which was Christmas day. I didn’t expect this, but happy to proceed and they offered several options that same day to come out for assessment and quote. 2pm – 6pm was the agreed upon time frame. I made arrangements with family and cleared out the garage/workshop to give them clearance. At 6pm, it was a no show. I called them shortly after and they apologized, confirming they would have a service tech contact me in the next 20mins. Again, nothing. I pretty much wrote them off until they called the very next morning. I took the opportunity to give them an ear full. They asked for the opportunity to make things right, so they scheduled a visit the same day and I accepted. The Manager (Danny) assured me they do not work on Christmas day but I explained to him that I spoke to two different individuals who approached me and offered me Christmas day visit. The service tech showed up as agreed the following day. He made no attempt to look at my water heater and went straight to calculating numbers. An exact replacement with tax and accessories was at $600 from Lowes and I explained that I already had the make/model in mind, and in my Lowes shopping cart. As he was calculating he was talking out loud, “I should be able to knock off $200” and minutes later, that got bumped to $300 off. So right away I knew this was going to be a joke. Sort of like a dealership telling me they’ll knock off $500 on a fully loaded Cadillac Escalade. When he was done, his quote was $2,645.00 for the tank and installation, and he sent it to my email address which never came. I immediately told him I decline and there’s no need to proceed. Later in the date I checked several feedback sites only to find out how awful these folks are with none of the sites reaching 2 stars out of 5. To Lowes, you should be reading all the feedback from your customers. Shame on your for having such poor representation!

Poor customer service

I had a HVAC/A/C installed on Nov 14,2025, at the time i also requested a humidifier which was additional charge of $798, according to the installers there wasn't enough space, no problem. I tried contacting the company just to make sure that I would have my account credited so that I wouldn't be paying for something that I did not receive. Each time I reached out to them I was told that someone would get back to me 24-48 hrs, no call back. I waited the 48hrs and gave them another call, same reply. this went on for several weeks of no call back.
finally, I received a call on Dec 8th from the salesman, and he informed me I would be getting a refund, still nothing. It wasn't until i wrote a bad Google review I got a call from someone in customer service on Dec. 22nd and told me she would pass it on to a supervisor and they will contact me. I have no faith in this company and i will pursue other avenues to get this resolved and it's a matter of principle this company should not be in business, this is unacceptable. Please do your research, I wish I had. Hopefully with enough complaints something can be done.

I thought that ARS must be a great…

I thought that ARS must be a great company since Home Depot and Lowes uses them for HVAC. I hired them and my list of bad experiences kept getting longer and longer. Dealing with them was so frustrating that I decided that I had to cancel my contract with them. I have never cancelled a contract before, but I just wanted to be done with their subpar business practices such as: coming out to install without pulling a permit. After pulling the permit, they found that my entire crawlspace had to be excavated. They hired a company to do the excavation without contacting me. My floor had to be removed to do the excavation. They promised same day install, but it took 3 days. They removed my functioning AC on a 90 degree Thursday and promised to have my new AC installed next day. The installers rolled out on Friday leaving us with no AC until Monday night in 90 degree heat.
The owner of ARS called me and apologized and promised a price reduction/credit on my loan and a check for $555.00 if I would give ARS one more chance to get my HVAC install right. I should have known better. I let him talk me out of cancelling and I allowed them to do the HVAC install. I haven't gotten the credit that the owner promised me. This happened 3 months ago. I have called them about it 5 times and can't even get a call back.
And don't call them after hours if you need emergency service. I called when the brand new thermostat they installed stopped working after the power flickered off and on. I was told they don't have after hours service, but would come out the next day. It was 20 degrees outside that night. I should have listened to my gut and should have cancelled that contract and called a different company.
So, I won't be recommending ARS and I will be talking to a lawyer to see what my options are for collecting what was promised.
After a Google review, I received the check for $555.00, but no word on the $3000.00 credit to my account. No one will call me back now. When I decided to cancel their contract, I got calls all day, but now that they have my money, they won't call me or honor their word. Thankfully, I got it all in writing, so hopefully I can get them held accountable in court .

Buyer beware!!!

Buyer beware!!!! This company was referred by Lowe's to replace a 40-gallon natural gas water heater. The technician quoted me $1,900 twice as much for labor as the water heater itself which is priced at $629. My water heater only needed the pilot to be reignited and is working just fine. Prices are excessive and shame on Lowe's for recommending this company.

Thomas is a fantastic employee. I was nervous about replacing my hot water heater. He eased my mind by explaining everything and he was doing and he worked steadily. He was so friendly and professional. I have never had any complaints with ARS or their employees and I have been a customer for 15 years. Thomas didn’t disappoint me.

They were supposed to come to my house around 5pm. I received numerous texts confirming that. The tech never came out. They did not call or let me know that they might be late. ARS does not stand by its installation

Nine years ago when I moved into my second and third floor condominium in Boston, Massachusetts, literally the first thing I did was install three mini splits. Nine years or so later I discovered they were no longer working. I called the company that installed them, ARS rescue router, and they sent out a technician. The technician told me they were not installed properly. Come to find out they did not install them on a high enough cement platform, they did not attach it to the platform outside, and I later found out that the insulation that they chose to use was the cheap insulation which failed. When I called them and asked them to do right by their work and standby their installation, all they would do is offer me a $500 off certificate. When we hire plumbers or a plumbing company to do installation, we rely on their expertise. This was not my fault. The company does not stand by its installation. I definitely will never use them again and I cannot imagine why anyone else would. I paid over $10,000 for that installation nine years ago and they tried to sell me a new system for $27,000 telling me that it would only last for 8 to 10 years. Bad company. I cannot recommend using them.

Called ARS yesterday 10/12/25

Called ARS yesterday 10/12/25, was quoted $80.00 for service call. Tankless water heater not heating water, showing Code 11, told them it works and then stops working. ARS shows up, turns it on, checks things,
It works. Says, “I didn’t really do anything, I’ll charge you a consultant fee, of $150.00.” ARS Leaves, and guess what the tank starts flashing code 11. Update: ARS contacted us, sent Nick out next day, and fixed our issue. He checked everything, and was very thorough. I’m very happy they resolved our issue and so fast. I will use them again.

Horrendous Customer service

We’ve bought 5 systems from this company—4 before ARS took over. Big mistake trusting them after.

In March 2023, we paid top dollar for a “high-end” cooling and heating system. Last week, during a brutal heat wave, it failed after just 1.5 years. The blower motor died. Warranty covered the part, but ARS still made us pay a call-out fee.

We were promised the part would be “expedited.” Instead, it’s been nothing but lies and runaround. Every call gets the same script: “We’ll send an expedited ticket,” “Someone will call you.” No one ever calls. No one takes responsibility. Total gaslighting.

Before ARS, this company actually cared. Now it’s just a corporate black hole. Calls and texts are ignored. The call center can’t fix anything—they just pass messages to departments that don’t respond.

We’ve been left 5 days in 90+ degree heat and humidity with no help, no urgency, and no accountability. ARS doesn’t care about customers, doesn’t care about warranties, and definitely doesn’t care about service.
