The platform is as good as the use you…

The platform is as good as the use you give it.
I’m a EU citizen and worked as an Aupair with 3 families which I found through AupairWorld.

I think it’s very easy to use and it’s a good place to make a first contact with families.

Ps. If you come from a South American country or any country outside the EU, I would recommend you inform yourself from other sources about the regulations and paper work you might need to become an Aupair in the country you are interested as Aupair World doesn’t always facilitate accurate and complete information on those cases. Other than that, with AupairWorld you will for sure find a family to have your Aupair experience.

Used aupairworld a couple of time (5)

Used aupairworld a couple of time (5). Always found good matches. It could be a bit cheaper but it matches most of the serious out there. The wiki is good both for host families and the aupairs. Feels like the aupairs on the site is serious compared to the cheaper ones. But that comes with a higher cost I guess.

Incompetence or worse

AupairWorld is run by incompetent people, but that's an euphemism.
My profile has just been removed on grounds that, in their misinformed opinion, au pairs older than 30 can no longer work. My complaint explaining that this EU regulation does NOT apply to the UK, where I live and have settled status, has been ignored by their useless support team. In other words, AupairWorld removes the few au pairs like me who actually have the legal right to work in the UK!
On top of that, the website is clunky, the chat keeps breaking down, the filters don't work (I would get families with toddlers despite setting the age to 9+), and reports on suspicious members are dismissed.
No hints are given on whether families are responsive or not, so au pairs can get ignored or blocked for no reason and without consequences.
My advice to both fellow au pairs and families is: avoid wasting your time on AupairWorld, let alone pay to get no service at all. Contrary to the motto on the homepage, the people who run it do not care and do not connect.

Waste of my time

This platform was a waste of my time, the applicants are kids with zero experience of child care or foreign nationals seeking a unique way of entering the country. I gave a few interviews to kids who seemed they could be pleasant but both failed to show up for the online interview. My suggestion is don’t waste your money.

I did this journey about 10 years ago…

I did this journey about 10 years ago and im still traumatised by it. I was just 20 yo and didn't know much about the world, I just wanted to see London and improve my english.
The site doesn't do a proper screen of the families and doesn't check up on you or support you whatsoever. I ended up with a nigerian mother who was ab using me and his kid sometimes even physically. I didn't even have a day off, she would wake me up even on sunday at 7am screaming the bible. I had to come back home before 7pm otherwise ''people would think im a pr0stitut&''. This is of course nigerian culture because england is not like that but I never said nothign cos i didn't wanna be shouted at. she was making me feel guily for eating her food so i lost a lot of weight. Unfortunetly I come from an abusiiive family so at the time i dint know any better. please be careful and only do this experience if you love yourself and in a good place mentally and make sure u have money saved to run away.
It's worth mentioning my best friend at the time had a very similar experience with an italian woman.

Unable to contact Au Pair World for much needed support

I have been trying to get hold of Au Pair world for days. Their call line is down so the answering machine advised me to email them. I emailed both of their email addresses a few days ago and still haven’t gotten a response. I’m not sure I’m with the correct family. I feel like I’m mostly doing housekeeping and not au pair work but I wanted to discuss it with Au Pair World to see if maybe the family has been fair with giving me all of these duties. I’m not having a good time with this family and need Au Pair World support.

Edit: Over a year later and Au Pair world still hasn’t replied to my email, checking up on me. The family I was with ended up getting worse, where the 7 year old started hitting his mom and I. I will never use Au Pair world again. Rather go through an agency where they do full checks on the family and go above and beyond to make sure you are safe. It’s worth the extra money.

They keep saying my application has been declined

They keep saying my application has been rejected. For some reason they don't want me to apply and they wouldn't even tell me why.
I've thoroughly checked my profile and application over and over again, but for some reason, they still won't let me apply.
My best bet is because my country of origin is African but I still don't see why they wouldn't let me apply.

Account blocked right after my payment…

Account blocked right after my payment for subscription. Very bad experience.
We are a family looking for AuPair. Right after my subscription as a premium member, my account was blocked. Upon login I got a page that the site has selected me for identity check. I shall send a copy of my ID to their email address and wait for them to process. Meanwhile, impossible to do anything on the website since, I cannot view anything nor write.
With cyber frauds going on everywhere, I am not comfortable to send my ID to a platform like that. I tried to call their number and only got voice messages saying that they did not offer any phone services.
I really have doubt. Making you pay then blocking you account the next day, then asking for your ID copy...Is the website really trustful ?
Can I see the business registration of the platform and the ID copy of the founder, to make sure that as parents our ID information (and all other information) won’t be stolen or resold ?

Do not trust the site.

Do not trust the site.

I had an au pair apply and be accepted from America. She flew 48 hrs to get to the UK, Spent 36hrs with immigration and got turned around. They stated Au Pair World were awful at giving incorrect information, that it is illegal to employ people from USA as an au pair and that numerous people get into trouble with immigration with no come back on the advice provided. Stay clear.

Unprofessional

Unprofessional. Completely fraudulent. They take money from your account then delete your account citing that you violated their policy and can't tell you why because they want to keep it private.

The aupairs are vane. Most of them see it as a holiday at the expense of another family. Last one I had couldn't bear my child's picture on the wall of a temporary room we provided while she was waiting to travel and another had to be in her room. One would severe head of dolls and break music instruments when she was upset at child. Engage in sexual relationship with multiple strangers at once and share it with minor left in her care.
Treating them like family makes it even worse. They want to stay in your home, eat free food, burn your energy bills, stay on social media all day gossiping to friends about you and your household.

Unfortunately, the countries where reliable aupairs could come from don't make it to the visa free league of supremacy and domination.

We are functioning better without aupair since last selfish one who woke up at 1 pm left. House is cleaner and no more trouble at home. We can find food to eat now without going to the shop daily to replenish what she had guzzled up. No longer smoking inside my house when we are not looking.

I wouldn't say it's the age of the aupairs as have had good aupairs from other places in the past. The site is only interested in the money they are making and should be reported to the right organisation that supervise online trading if anything like that exists.

If you are desperate and have to use them take your time.to find someone that has lived with kids or have younger siblings. If their parents have no career or they dropped out of school, be careful as they may get jealous of your kids when you provide them what they couldn't afford. There are still some good aupairs out there and I hope you find one of those.

As for this company, they are getting away with crime. Theft and unreasonable behaviour.

BAD HOST FAMILY

BAD HOST FAMILY
I went to au pair in italy with a family I’d met over FaceTime, they seemed like a lovely family and I was very excited! However when I got there i soon realised the youngest child was VERY misbehaved. Yes he’s only 4 but he used to kick me, punch me, slap and scream at me for no reason. He made my nose bleed once and the parents did nothing about it! It was getting too much and I could not control him and he never listened to him. His parents also failed to tell him off and discipline him every-time he misbehaved for me. In addition to this the parents were rude and up tight. They commented on the way I dressed and the way I used to look after the children. They would shout at me and tell me off for things that were out of my control and not my fault. Overall they just made me feel horrible every single day so I decided to leave early. I left after 3 weeks staying there and once I got home I asked them about my pay. They refused to pay me! They claimed I didn’t put in any effort with the children and didn’t deserve to get paid which is not true. I tried my hardest and got nothing in return. They also decided to tell me whilst I was at home and helpless. Regardless I flew over there and worked for them for 3 weeks, looking after their two children, cleaning and helping at a summer camp 2 days a week. Keep in mind they didn’t contribute any money to my flight. They then transferred me £40 of my wage which is definitely not 3 weeks worth! They had also blocked me so I couldn’t get in touch with them. I have contactee au pair world but not yet received anything back. I thought I would leave a review to inform people of my horrible experience as an au pair.

Why paid subscription???

My experience with aupairwolrd.com was good but since you have to pay for membership if you wanna have any chances to match with families, I don't think I am gonna use it anymore.

Not many au pairs are so rich to spend 40 euros monthly for subscription!!!

There should be an option to rate them…

There should be an option to rate them as zero. I hired an aupair through aupairworld who is a criminal working with other aupairs on the site as part of a sophisticated fraud operation to steal possessions, including identity, credit card and bank details to commit theft. Aupairworld states that they perform background checking including obtaining identity information about their aupairs when they create their accounts. It appears this is false.

I paid then no access to my account!!

I paid, around 38 euro, and I set up my profile perfectly but 2 days later they ask 2 questions, it was during COVID-19 lockdown but they didn't reply, I don't have access to my account!
I ask for a refund, I sent many emails no one answering, MY MONEY GONE!!
Careful, I will not recommend at all!

Do not trust this site!

I was in a bad family last year. AuPairWorld claims that they offer assistance by phone and email. I tried to call them a thousand times but they never answered. Surprisingly they answered to my emails, but with the same phrase that did not even help with my issue even though I was very clear about my situation.

They do not take the reports seriously enough if you ask me. The family has now been reported 5 times by three different girls, and they still have a profile. Apparently they forward the complaint to the family and only then question the family about the situation. How easy it is for them to claim that they have not done such things! And this has happened DESPITE the fact that the family has written something in their profile that is against the basic idea of Au pairing. So much for carefully checking the profiles. Obviously not true.

Honestly girls and boys, choose an agency. Even then it is not guaranteed to have someone to watch you back, but the chances are much higher. It is very irresponsible from this website to ignore the complaints just to keep a client on their list that pays!
