Maybe the worst car rental company ever.

Recently I rent a car from avis office in Schonefeld, Germany. Ridiculous clerk attitude, they charged me 450 euros for a "right wing mirror casing scratch" , a little scratch that the avis clerks knew was there before i took the car and I'm saying this because the man who "checked" the car went straight to the mirror telling "oh theres a scratch here" not even looking the car for 2 seconds. If you want to have a pleasant and peaceful trip DON'T EVER EVER RENT A CAR FROM THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY!

Eben in the ecommerce hype it is better advised to use the telephone or a good travel agent for car rntal bookings. Especially prepaid bookings over so called "price checker" etc. are making problems, here e.g. Avis New York-JFK, who insisted to charge a prepaid client the full rental again.

Be aware fuel charge in MUC

Rental 28126484DE1
Rented a car in Nurenberg via avis.de and returned to MUC Airport where I filled up the car approx 20k before airport.

At drop off I was asked for a fuel receipt which I did not have,
Fuel charge was about 17 euros.

About a month after the rental I was charged again 150 euros for the full rental on my credit card.

Complained via email and after the normal 2 weeks I got a reply and they returned 69 euros and told me the fuel gauge was only 7/8 which was not true..IT WAS FULL

So I guess they charged me 80 euros in gas plus 17 euros charge..
All email replies from AVIS is really unclear.

Avis is refusing to pay back and are thanking me for my understanding.

I'm still fighting the case and might go to court because I have been a loyal customer for many years and a Preferred member and a person I believe of high integrity..

What happend to this great old company..Racing to the buttom.

Nie wieder mit dieser Firma

A "700$ upgrade" was charged but was never explained during pick up at Denver that this was an "updrade". During conversation, they focussed on a fuel prepaid which I agreed and additonal insurance which I did'nt want. A gamesmanship? Likely.

Why should 2 people with two bags upgrade to an 8 passender seat SUV? Not one single word was mentioned during this pick up! Stupid enough I signed this contract by trust but did not check for this hidden and unwanted upgrade. Thats how you end when you trust such people after almost 20years beeing a customer!
Complaint was answered with their stupid standard text "We try harder" and "Sorry for misunderstanding".
Misunderstanding??? Nonsens. AVIS, forget this BS!

I can only warn everbody to book Avis and I feel betrayed and think they are bandits!

Avis, have you ever heard about "Goodwill", this is an englisch word,
totally unkown vocabular to you, obviously.

Keep your hands off from Avis. Sad enough, they don't even care about anything which is customer related.

At 6 feb I rented a car from Avis Dusseldorf Airport. I have already paid car rental and full insurance amount from carrentals.com.
I went to Avis desk to get my car. A very polite officer told me that they will charge 238 euro to my credit card as a deposit and when I left the car this amount will be charge back to my card. This is only for deposit.
He also advice me to upgrade our car with no extra amount charge because we have daughter with us.
I especially ask for extra charging he said no severel times. We left the car on time and the avis officer told me that there is no problem.
When I came back Turkey I saw that 238 euro deposited from my credit card and not charged back. I wrote to customer service avis.
The answer is;
We left our car late (NO)
We have extra insurance ( I have already paid for full insurance)
Car upgrade amount ( I didnt want to upgrade and ı asked for additional amount several times. The officer told me that there is no extra charge)

I want my money back.
İf I can't this means Avis is thief and a big lier..

Extremely bad service !

Trough their website I made an reservation on a Mercedes A-class and paid extra in advance to get one with a Diesel engine, because I was going to drive 2.050km in 5 days and therefore I would save a lot of gas.
- when I arrived, they didn't have a Mercedes A-class and told me they were gonna 'upgrade' me to an Seat Leon !?
And that they didn't have any diesel cars left.
I talked with the manager for 20min, and told him that I could se several cars in the parking lot with a Diesel engine and I wouldn't accept the downgrade and a gas engine. But he wouldn't do nothing about it, and he wouldn't even give me an discount, but told me I had to sent an email.
After that, I had to wait another 40min before the car was ready, even though I was there at the time the hire started.

When I got back from my vacation, I send an email and explained the situation, and after 18 days I just got the same answer back. I had to pay about 80€ more in gas and didn't get the car I expected at all!

This is definitely the last time I ever rent a car from Avis (this happened in Flensborg) and wouldn't recommend others to do it either !

Cheats and blackmailers

I agree with the many warnings on trustpilot about Avis's operations in numerous countries. Avis promise low costs when you originally book, but bump these up to extortionate levels when you have committed to their services and are dependent upon them. Expect to be cheated by a hundred or so euros. Don't believe a single word the agent says to you, but if you ask for anything in writing, your car may not be available any more and your holiday in tatters. Just don't use them.

AVIS ***!!!

Your partner AVIS in Mallorca has charged 300 euro from my credit card for a 2 cm. black spot that already was in the forward bumper. I sent a letter of complaint and yet have no proper answer to that...
