I am not at all technical but was able to obtain a very pleasing quote for car insurance. However, I had to resort to telephoning the help center to pay. The lady who took my call was very helpful... See more

After changing my car I cancelled my policy and was issues a refund of monies owed.
I then receive a threatening email as I cancelled my direct debit and there was 1 payment still due.
I was not made aware of this and do not appreciate threatening emails regarding debt collectors etc...
I have now paid the balance, hence zero apologies...will not use this company again.

The Bermuda Triangle of insurances
I have held car insurance with Aviva for over three years now. I have recently purchased a new car and wanted to update my new insurance policy with this. What turned into the Bermuda triangle of insurance policies was actually shocking from a customer experience standpoint and the level of knowledge and care that the customer support team has.
I tried multiple times to pay for a new insurance policy after I was advised by customer support agents to cancel my current policy and find and get a new one. Every time I went to go and pay for this policy, the website did not work and did not allow me to do it. I then called up and spoke to the team and was then told that Aviva would not be able to insure me on this policy and couldn't provide me with a quote, even though I had a quote sat on my computer telling me that I had a quote.
When I spoke to both the customer chat team and the team on the phone, both were completely useless. They spent more time putting you on hold and reviewing information and asking you to go over the same things over and over again rather than actually helping you with the issue and giving you a solution.
In my opinion, their way of getting people to do insurance online that don't need actual physical humans or anyone with any level of common sense to answer questions is their way of being able to charge a premium and hire people who don't understand what they are doing.

Very satisfied.

I had a collision Aviva’s approved garage did not contact me within 24hrs it’s now been 3 days with no contact and the weekend is approaching and no courtesy car. The customer service has been shocking, rather than finding a quick solution to being without a car, I was told I can complain (takes weeks) and the complaint would resolve the issue of not having a repaired car. Really shocking and still no contact from garage

great price easy to use website
Aviva Zero
Aviva Zero, car insurance, don't go there, absolute waste of money, won't pick up your car, won't fix it, won't take it to your home address, will have RAC take it to a garage you choose but won't pay for or discuss the repair, won't deal with a complaint, won't call you back

Dreadful services
In my experience. This company fails on so many levels. Dont respond to phone calls, emails. Cant find my policy and their customer service is dreadful. I also found them to be decietful. Based on my experience I would avoid this company for your insurance matters.

Slightly more money but worth it
Slightly more money, but better cover and a better buying process. When it comes to insurance I want a brand I can trust.

Nowhere to pay and no-one to talk to
I selected breakdown insurance for myself and my wife because it was recommended by Which? The price and services offered were great, but there was no indication on the quote, online or by post, where I could go to pay. I expected an online portal, so in the end I opted to go through the quote process again and selected 'confirm and pay' at the end. This took me to a web page and I selected 'Direct Debit' but the payment page timed out with a 'gateway error'. I tried to call many different phone numbers but always got put through to an automated attendant where the only option was to open a chat session. I tried this a few times but just got 'please wait', no indication of wait times. I gave up, tried a few more numbers in the hope of talking to a human. In the end I called a number for Complaints listed in my quote letter, got through to someone who said he worked in Claims and couldn't help but would put me through the 'switchboard'. Here again was a long automated announcement the gist of which was that due to 'GDPR' they could no longer transfer calls and hung up!! Exasperated, I spent the next 10 minutes getting a quote and paying for a similar service from Axa. Then a few days later I got confirmation in the post from Aviva (note - they do not appear to do email) that my breakdown insurance was in place. Again I tried to find someone to talk to without success and raised yet another complaint. There has been no response to any of these complaints. Note to self - never, ever try to do business with Aviva again.

easy policy purchase process. Unknown claims process experience.
I can only comment on the easy policy purchase process. Clear and concise questions. Covers looks extensive and at decent cost. Good terms for monthly payments
However, i could not possibly comment on the claims process. This determines how good or bad an insurance company actually is, obviously. I hope I never have to find out.

Competitive and easy to follow
Having not done this for a long while your site was very easy to follow. Your quote was competitive and at least £150 cheaper than my last company.
