A very competing quote and a very user friendly site to renew policy.

I have a current policy with Aviva-Home insurance. All good except when I did my usual yearly pricing exercise and I found a cheaper policy. So I noticed that with Aviva they have this auto policy renewal. A bit annoying, but hey, I'll cancel the auto renewal on line. Nope, you can't you have to call them in person. So when we called, their wording is not great, they say you want to cancel your policy. The correct term should be "renewal". I feel that this narrative would alarm elder customers into to thinking that their current policy is getting cancelled. You can't cancel a policy if you have not purchased it yet, only the renewal workflow!!! Please change this to "Cancel Renewal" Aviva. Post "renewal" cancelation - the messages and emails do indicate that its the end of your current policy that it cancels. But, it is a tad misleading!

I used the breakdown assist option last Sunday, as of today my car still was not dropped to a garage. When I rang I was told it was not Aviva's problem. That it is outsourced. When I expressed I felt it was a poor service, I was told it's free so not really their service. Shocking customer support.

We have recently moved to Ireland from Belgium with my wife and family, and have purchased a new vehicle.
We have been driving in Ireland for the last 6 months (on and off for the moving process) and 2 months full time (we moved permanently in early March 2026). We both had respectively 20+ years and 10+ years of driving experience with no claims proof, from a Belgian car insurance, and wanted to insure our vehicle with Aviva. The process was smooth, until the underwriters decided that the no claims proof was "invalid" for some obscure reason, and had us pay more than triple the initial quote and requested telematics to be installed, which was quite insulting given our combined driving experience with no claims. So much for the European Union "single market".

I have now spent 2 hours trying to renew my car policy online. Now I realise you need two platforms ie devices to complete the insurance. I hadn't downloaded the Aviva App so couldn't verify the push notification so had to then download the app on my laptop. Also I was given the quote for the car insurance BEFORE I was asked about my other insurance policies even tho' it said that having a second or more insurance policy would mean I'd get a reduction on the car insurance. In fact I have two household policies with Aviva but could only fill in one/ I dread having to go through all of this again when I come to insure these houses in July.
