Underhanded discount codes

Underhanded discount codes. I am based in the UK - tax is included in the final price. Shipping fees are added after. I have a bag in my checkout, subtotal £150. Without the 15% discount code, the shipping fee to the UK is £8 and there is no added tax. When I add any 15% discount code (e.g. MOM15 or MOONWALK15) suddenly the shipping fee jumps to £22 and there are additional taxes to £30. This is extremely nefarious and untrustworthy, not to mention completely false, this has to be illegal? I have the screenshots to prove this underhanded practice, I would love to share!
