Where Incompetence Meets Arrogance
Where do I start?
March 2020 my lawyers opened an account in Sabadell after acquiring a property in Spain on my behalf.
Forward three years the bank sends me various communications and phone calls stating my passport is expired and need to reverify. I went through a Sabadell link taking a picture of my passport and a selfie as required. I waited and nothing happened. I contacted the phone desk at least ten times with each minion (more appropriate than executive) giving me a different response. At the time I was starting to put my property in the market.
Forward today (March-April 2024) and a buyer was found. First order of business was to close this account.
Forward 3 weeks and I request my Lawyer to wire the proceeds of the sale to my US Account. I ask them to exchange to US Dollars locally since I got skimmed big time on the exchange of the wire transfer from Euros to USD on the wire on the proceeds from my bank account.
Their bank is, you guessed it, Sabadell!
My lawyers tell me the bank can't do a simple exchange to USD but recommended me to open a currenciesdirect account (another hassle). I naturally refused being fed up.
Luckily, after talking with my US bank I manage to lock a favorable exchange rate. My lawyers wanted to do a trial transfer for a token amount before sending the principal. I talked to them and based on the fact that the last transfer took almost a week to materialize I wasn't willing to wait two weeks for this to happen. So they finally budged. For comparison, I recently got wired some money from someone in the UAE and it was reflected in my US account balance after 3 hours.
The only thing this so called bank excels at is charging fees. Other than that a bunch of incompetent and arrogant individuals with a script to follow.
Good riddance!
Trying to move our Sabadell account…
Trying to move our Sabadell account from Las Chafiras to Costa Adeje near our home.
The arrogant lady manager in Las C causes us a lot of problems whereas the manager of Costa Adeje is extremely courteous.
He tried to get our account moved .. no luck.
Now we have tried again via Head Office and our lawyer!
VERY POOR - VIRTUALLY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
Totally agree with all the other reviews given. I have been with the bank for over 10 years. At first the service was excellent, and if I needed to contact when in the UK I could email them, and would have a reply almost instantly, so impressed. Now it’s impossible to contact them. I have tried sending emails using a generic one on their website and only received template email replies, even when someone does reply, they don’t understand my questions, and therefore don’t get the answers I need. I am now having issues accessing my online account in the UK, I have tried resets, forgot passwords, and finally after recent changes to their website, competed a form, which stated I would receive an email to complete the process needed. No email received!! I have also called Sabadell, and assuming just a call centre, not my bank in Mazarron, asked to make an appointment with the branch ready for my next visit, but this wasn’t possible WHY? Yes agree with everyone else, DON’T use this bank. I will be looking to close my account when next there, and from what others have said, no doubt will not be easy.

Queued for 45 minutes to close my deceased Mum's account. They told me my transaction might be OK to complete if I came in on Thursday. I asked if I could phone in on Thursday to check before I came & queued. They told me "No. No phone. It's chaos".
Worst Bank going
Worst Bank going, charged me 30 euros to send 20 euros to Geneva. Such a rip off and I will be changing my account soon as I hate this bank so much.my account is in Almoradi, so hope you read this as it’s totally unacceptable you robbing bank.
Very unhappy customer and it take more than 3 day’s to get there.will never use there services again. And from the 26/ 09 /2024 still a crap bank and charge far to much bank charges for nothing !!!
Do not use Sabodell for Banking and Insurance
I contact their 24 hour English speaking phoneline in June to register a claim. Someome answered in broken English that there was no English speaker available and they would get someone to call me back. Approxiamately 6 weeks later they returned the call. I advised that I was not coming back to Spain until late in October (I gave her the dates we would be here) and she said someone would call me nearer the time to arrange an appointment.
A few days into my stay I chased it up with them, as I had not received a call back. They advised I would get a call back within 24 hours. I received the call back from the Assessor over a week later on the afternoon before we were returning home. We agreed that I would contact him when I was next in Spain.
I returned to Spain in December, he came out and assessed the claim. He said he would write a report and I would be advised in due course. This never hapened.
I chased them up again and they said they have no record of anyone attending. I gave them the dates and times and advised of my next time in Spain. They said that an assessor would be in touch within 24 hours to arrange a visit. Nearly 2 weeks later, no such contact.
The link to my case asked for an NIF, despite putting it in, it never worked. By chance I tried my passport number, as I used this for the bank and I got in. The WhatsApp, system doesn't work. You ask for a call back and input a valid telephone number in that the system refuses to accept.
Their bank also charges high fees for doing little. There are a lot cheaper / better / more custumer orientated companies to do your banking / insurance with.
This is the worst bank in Spain
This is the worst bank in Spain, if you want to have a constant contact with the help line, problems with payments, happy to deliver tons of documents for nothing and pay for it - this is the right bank. Happy to do work with them any more
Sabadell Are Terrible In All Respects - Avoid.
San Pedro Del Pinatar branch is a joke. Understaffed, no queue system, usually packed with customers all looking as if they have been there hours.
Cannot close accounts online (why?) so made an online appointment to attend San Pedro branch at 12.00 Tuesday 23rd January. Received email from Sabadell at 07.26 Tuesday to say appointment cancelled because "to close an account you need an appointment before 11.00"!
Made another appointment for 10.00 Thursday 25th January - no staff member doing appointments! Had to join "normal" queue and reached front at 10.45. Teller initially refused to close the account (I have no idea why) but relented and we finally escaped from the nightmare that is Sabadell. Worst bank imaginable as regards charges, branch helpfulness, online systems. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Sabadell is the absolute worst entity I…
Sabadell is the absolute worst entity I have ever dealt with in my life !!! Their customer service is shockingly poor. Their systems are terrible. I´m locked out of my own account with no help at the digital signature that they have put in place. Years of pain with this company
Abracadabra service
Sabadell requested my financial activities documents, in my branch they gave me email where to submit documents. I did so. Two month later I received notification that my account transactions going to blocked as documents are still not received. Now in chat with customer service I been told that it’s not possible to upload documents from emails!!!
Everyone just telling different abracadabra
The branches are helpful
The branches are helpful, also the online help is good. But the problem with this bank is that they constantly pester you. They send you credit cards that you do not want. They ask for P60 info but make it very difficult to send it.
Do not use Sabadell home / villa…
Do not use Sabadell home / villa insurance our claim for a water leak has been going on for over a year now they say because we did not maintain our tree roots which caused the leak they refused the claim We have over 260 trees on our land how are we expected to maintain the roots God only knows . we regularly maintain the trees and land but obviously not the roots .If we could give a zero star rating we would. It took months before they responeded to any emails or telephone calls. Most of the staff have been rude and very unhelpful.
The worst bank ever
The worst bank ever! I have a problem and my account is blocked several letters from my lawyer ignored. Go to the bank director she is unhelpful and does nothing. I am a widow and they are trying to destroy me.
SHOCKING BANK
SHOCKING BANK. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. WILL NOT LET ME CANCEL WHEN I HAVE RELOCATED COUNTRIES AND CONTINUES TO CHARGE EXTORTIONATE CHARGES
It has to be one of the worst banks I…
It has to be one of the worst banks I have ever had to deal with. Everything is fine until it is not. My wife was told to cancel her debit card after an airline she booked with got hacked. Sabadell said no problem, it will take up to 10 working days (excluding Friday's for some reason) to get a new card. It never showed, so she phoned them, and they sent another, and charged her again. 8 weeks later, the card never showed. We joined another bank, and received our card in-branch. When we went to cancel our joint account today in-branch, we were not even asked why we wanted to cancel, they just processed the cancellation, which I found odd. Never again. Its CaixaBank all the way now. They actually seem to care, and we have a direct line of contact into our own advisor for any issues, unlike Sabadell where one had to make an appointment even for the smallest thing.
Disgusting behaviour how they try to…
Disgusting behaviour how they try to control your account.
Problems with them for over 2 years keep locking my account so i cant pay money into it to pay my Spanish Mortgage.
The state the problem is that they keep asking for a P60 when i am self Employed.
They do not recognise the Tax declaration from my Chartered Accountant.
they do not recognise the Official UK Tax paid document.
Avoid at all costs and open a Spanish Bank account with a different Bank
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. I was scammed money and Sabadell did nothing!!!!
kI have been trying for weeks to…K
I have been trying for weeks to re-access my account after my passport expired. I have made many telephone calls, sent many emails, filled in the requisite form 5 times (each time correctly, I was told) and finally I received an email asking me to send ID photo of my self, new passport and a telephone bill, which I did. I followed the instructions implicitly and thought that I had finally cracked it - but no ! I sent the email with attached photos to the address given, identifying it for the attention of the person named and quickly received an automated email informing me that my email would not be read or forwarded. Several attempts made with the same result. It feels like a game that someone at Sabadell is enjoying at my expense and it is very stressful.
Some of the many service advisors I have spoken to (Hugo and Sebastian in particular) have been very pleasant and tried to be helpful, but they can only tell me what I know already. They tell me that they are sending a message to the activation department - and I am sure they are telling me the truth - but I don't hear anything. It seems a simple expedient for them to check my ID and restore my online access, but they don't do it. I have been with Sabadell for several years and do not understand this treatment.
I am not able to travel to Spain at present and a completely cut off from the money in my account.
I would have sent this to Sabadell on their feedback page, but the page is not receiving feedback at present !
I have just found out that the email address I was instructed to use had been changed. I was simply sending emails nowhere. Human error by the person who gave it to me, but if someone had told me this during my many telephone calls, I could have been saved a lot of stress and money. I do not have a lot of time to get my mandatory documentation sent in now for which I need online access. Fingers crossed that I get it soon, following which I can review the number of stars.🤔
Horrible customer Service
No Service at all !! Choose another bank
No Service at all !!
They are sitting at the desk and do not want to help you. They always say that it is OK, and then they do nothing.
Problems for ever !!!
