Subscription Scammers

I was led to bare&bond through Timeout's email newsletter offering me a "free" monthly box of perfume from a new fragrance company. Firstly, it was not free- P&P was £3 odd but I thought for a whole box of perfumes it was still a good deal. After waiting a while for the order to arrive, I was pleased to see it this morning. Opening it, I found amongst much lavish gold tissue paper and smart notecards informing me of the scent (though these were eloquently written and informative) one - ONE - very small, 8.5ml bottle of perfume. This is not a "box of perfume" as advertised. Timeout displayed a picture of a far larger, different box with three perfumes beside it (to be presumed as contents), instead I feel I have paid £3 for a perfume tester. Even worse, the monthly subscription is £14.95 and incredibly hard to cancel- am I to assume people are paying this much for this little product? Very disappointed- will not make the same mistake again!

I'm sorry you were so disappointed with the service. "Subscription Scammers" - maybe a little harsh.

We do try hard to create a delightful experience of trying new perfume you wouldn't find on the high street. Admittedly, we don't always get it right and for that, we're very sorry.

I think we're probably a bad fit for each other. Our service is for people wanting to try high-quality artisan perfume, instead of high quantities of cheap perfume. We do this by working directly with tiny artisan perfume makers, who create wonderful perfumes that you'd never find on the high street, rather than large scale factories producing perfume you can find discounted anywhere.

We think our website is very clear about the size of the perfume in the subscription, as is the Timeout advert. Sorry you were confused. We'd love to know what confused you so we can fix it. Your order arrived within our promised time of 10 days, it's often much quicker but with lockdown 2.0, everything is a little slower. We're also sorry you had trouble cancelling your subscription. We have tried to make it as easy as possible. Had you reached out to us, we would have cancelled it straightaway it for you.

Fantastic personal service and a very popular gift! It would be great to automate the gifting process further (eg be able to leave a gift message and have it emailed to the recipient on a set date)

Absolutely delightful

Very nearly excellent

The only reason I gave this four stars was because I had given it as a gift but unfortunately there was nothing in the package to say that it was a three-month gift subscription. It would also have been nice to be able to include a personal message. Other than this, the packaging was lovely and I love that the bottle is larger than other subscription services. The scent was great too and awesome to be supporting independent parfumiers.

Wonderful idea

Wonderful idea! I love perfume but hate mass production and the prices of designer perfumes. I received my first bottle within two days of ordering in recycled packaging. The scent is unique and lasts the full day. Can't wait to smell my next treat!

Good Service

I did not like the earlier perfume & the company promptly offered to refund or change to another perfume. I opted for a change & returned the previous one.
