Be careful with the initial quote
Be careful with the initial quote. Their initial quote is low and once you sign up the price goes up dramatically at the first renewal. Also, would not recommend downloading and installing their monitoring app as it consumes a lot of phone battery power and works against you - the 10% savings are not worth it. Customer service is not helpful at all.
Belairdirect fails horribly at treating long term paying customers with decency.
I understand insurance companies are by nature shady and predatory, and I have been driving 20 years, never had as much as a fender bender until recently (I literally had a minor fender bender with only cosmetic damage). This has been the most frustrating customer service situation ive ever had. I pay for premium insurance, full coverage, car rental. First off, every person I have spoken to has had extremely difficult to understand indian accents and when I ask them to repeat themselves (because theyre nearly impossible to understand) they become rude, I have been given multiple different sets of instructions and everytime I follow up im talked down to because the information I was given was incorrect, they never seem to have any information on my past calls or any updates so they have no clue what the past person has said or done. They all recite the same lines which are completely unhelpful and im at the point now I cut them off and tell them ive heard what theyre going to say, which seems to always make them act more rude. They are essentially bullying me into accepting cheap Chinese replacement parts on a 50th anniversary camaro that will be done at their shop where everyone working on the vehicles looks 18 and can barely answer a question in English. The GM body shop has official GM replacement parts off of the same vehicle for the same price and ive had to argue with numerous belair direct employees why I dont want cheap Chinese made parts when the proper ones are available for comparable prices. Ive paid tens of thousands of dollars for my insurance over the years. My first claim, and its a minor one, and Ive been treated like horribly. Im sure every insurance agency is like this, but doesnt change that I give Belairdirect a 1/5 for customer care.

I just switched last year to belair direct. Wouldn't recommend this company
Belair Direct uses Intact insurance…
Belair Direct uses Intact insurance service, no longer good. When you have a claim, they just transfer you to Intact Insurance who says we are the same company.
Intact Insurance take a week to answer, Intact then finds anything or says anything to deny your claim. They use known tactics to send an unqualified contractor that is not related to your immediate problem and has nothing to do with your claim to take some pictures and send the pictures to Intact Insurance so they deny your claim. The aim is just take your money, and when you make your claim, they'll use any trick in intact Insurance ways to deny the claim or not pay at all. No longer the Belairdirect I knew some 25 years ago. Service Zero. They work against you to deny your claim. They are not helpful at all and they talk to you in a bad way. The only time they talk to you politely is to deny your claim. Stay away from Belairdirect and Intact Insurance, because your claim will be most likely denied. Not a true insurance company at all. Just one big fraud both Belairdirect and Intact Insurance which are the same.
Terrible company.
Terrible company.
Tried to change my last name due to marriage - 3 years later and 5 calls to them, its still not updated. Tried to cancel our renewal and they need verbal consent from everyone who's name is on the policy. Try to get through on the phone to them after 4pm when they are supposedly open until 8pm - good luck, you'd better have 2 hours to wait on hold. They make everything so difficult.
I switched all my liabilities over to another company in less than 15 minutes with the majority of it done online and they didn't need to speak to the additional policy holders.
Stay far away from Belair Direct! It may seem cheaper with the initial quote, but it is 200% not worth the hassels of dealing with them
I'm extremely disappointed...
I'm extremely disappointed with belairdirect's decision not to renew my policy. Having an at-fault accident is understandable — that's exactly what insurance is for, and I don't dispute that part.
What I take real issue with is the non-payment cancellation that's being used as one of the reasons for non-renewal. I had the money and the time to pay — the payment simply failed because of insufficient funds on one specific account, even though I had more than enough available on another. I was never properly notified about this issue when it actually happened — there was clearly no real effort made to reach me and make sure I was aware of it at the time, before it turned into a cancellation on my record.
Now, months later, that unresolved notification failure is being used against me to deny renewing my policy entirely. That's not fair — if the notice about a payment issue never properly reached me in the first place, how am I supposed to have fixed it, especially when I had the funds available and would have gladly paid immediately?
Very disappointed in how this was handled. If you're a customer here, make sure you're double-checking everything with them directly, because their notifications may not actually reach you when it matters most.
Very shady company
Very shady company. There are plenty of other insurance companies you can go with, but Belair direct is not it. I got an online quote that was several hundred dollars cheaper, so I called to lock it in, and suddenly the price jumped. The rep on the phone also had a very strange attitude. He was very passive aggressive.
Do not trust Belairdirect Insurance
Do not trust Belairdirect Insurance. They partner with unethical contractors like Belfor who overcharge, fabricate documents, and bill for unfinished work. When I reported this blatant fraud to my Belairdirect adjuster, they sided with the contractor and pressured me into an in-person meeting. They care more about their corporate partnerships than protecting their paying clients. A formal complaint is being filed with government regulators. Look elsewhere for insurance.
I purchased travel insurance for a 3…
I purchased travel insurance for a 3 week trip from their online site. For payment they request a blank voided cheque (no credit card payments allowed). A little over a month after returning from vacation I had my bank account debited for a huge amount. Apparently, they assume you want an ongoing insurance plan that automatically renews. So buyer beware...cheap is expense. I had to call 3x to get my funds back which will take 4-6 weeks! I'm a senior on pension and disabled so how do I make rent or groceries??? Stay far away from this shady outfit.
Belair insurance is a big rip off
Belair insurance is a big rip off . I got car/tenant insurance with them in 2024 and I am up for renewal and it has jumped in price tremendously. Last year they increased my auto/tenant insurance by $20.00 more , using the excuse that its the area or type of car, is why it's jumped . This year its now another $50.00 more jump.
No accidents, no tickets, no reason for my insurance waits to jump by large amounts per year . Stay away from them if you can !!
How can you explain living same place for 8-years , no claims , no issues and your tenant insurance going from $20/month to now thewy want almost $90/month. Its a joke !!
Belair Dierect - NOT an insurance that has your back
Bélair Direct - Total disappointment
When I purchased my insurance through a bank institution I had No idea that the Insurance providers were Belair Direct until it was too late.
Unfortunately I did get a damage to my home this year in March and it wasn’t until July that I got a PARTIAL payment. (4 months later!!!!) They refused to pay my damaged floor. ** Even though I had pictures to prove the rain fall in my living room**
My whole file was a botched job from the start. They only came 2 weeks later after I cleaned up all the water, dehumidifier, heaters & wood stove to remove all the dampness only to be told that NO WATER appeared in their tests…. Yet the engineered floors were bubbled on the edges.
What’s the point of paying an insurance???
I find myself now with over $2600 expense and having to do the work myself since I’m totally in debt. I had to replace my floor IT WAS DAMAGED & stank of mildew INSANE
Now they tell me that I HAVE TO GO HAVE MY FILE REVISED BY A THIRD PARTY or an insurance court
You want your life destroyed??? Get Belair Direct
Extremely Poor Claims Handling and Communication
I rarely leave negative reviews but my recent property insurance claim experience with Belairdirect has been extremely disappointing.
We opened a sewer backup claim on July 7, and since then, we've had to make countless follow-up calls just to receive basic updates. Our assigned adjuster repeatedly failed to respond to emails and phone calls, even during urgent situations where immediate decisions were required.
One of the biggest frustrations was the lack of clear communication. We were told about three repair options and informed that a cheque would be issued, but it was never explained that the cheque was only for the sewer line work while the three options related to home restoration. I only learned this after contacting Belairdirect Customer Service myself. This unnecessary confusion could have been avoided with a simple explanation.
The most concerning part occurred when the contractor discovered additional damage during the repair and required approval for revised work. Despite multiple attempts to reach the adjuster, there was no response. Customer Service even advised that the adjuster had acknowledged my email and would call me back by 6:00 PM. That call never came. The following day, I was simply told that the adjuster was busy and would contact me when available.
We've been loyal Belairdirect customers for the past two years and have always paid our premiums on time. Insurance is supposed to provide peace of mind during stressful situations, but this claim has been the exact opposite. We're now waiting for the revised payment to be processed while facing potential penalties from the contractor due to these delays.
I hope Belairdirect reviews its claims handling process and communication standards. Timely and transparent communication is just as important as the coverage itself.

Super long wait times to speak to a representative over 2 hours and still on hold to speak to claims representative the basement of my house flooded.
I want to share my experience with…
I want to share my experience with Belair Auto Insurance as a warning for others.
In my experience, I had several serious issues, including unexpected charges beyond what I believed I had agreed to, problems with my policy, and delays in getting a rental car after an accident. These experiences were very frustrating.
Before choosing an insurance company, I encourage everyone to carefully read the policy, ask questions about all fees and cancellation terms, and compare different providers. Based on my experience, I would recommend looking at other insurance companies before deciding on Belair.
This is my personal experience, and I hope it helps others make an informed decision.
Garbage company
Garbage! They will cancel your policy if you make upgrades to your home that should reduce the cost overall. I changed from baseboard heater system to a Home HVAC system by walker and they decided to cancel my entire policy and have me go elsewhere rather then keep me on. The customer service is terrible, the person on the phone laughed when I said I'd be taking my car off to. Your employees don't care at all and you as a provider of insurance are a disgrace.
Horrendously greedy corporation
First year was okay?
Second year, without any accidents, tickets, etc, it went up $60.
this year, with another perfect record, they just emailed me my renewal and its up EIGHT HUNDRED dollars!! I called and he had no explanation for me, just that the price was going up and theres nothing i could do. Am absolutely switching and will never ever look back.
Probably the shadiest underhanded…
Probably the shadiest underhanded company in the Canadian insurance market. They have unjust rate increases and withdraw funds at their leisure. Definitely don’t deal with this company in any capacity as they’re as crooked as they come
I purchased auto and tenant insurance
I purchased auto and tenant insurance.
So my auto insurance was canceled by them, they said it was due to non payment . But I purchased both auto and tenant together and my tenant insurance is still being taken out of my account.. they said they send me registered mail , I have not received it . And now they are saying I will need to pay the whole year upfront . This is not right as they still take my tenant insurance out of my bank every month. And I was never notified about anything! And now I have a cancelation on me and very hard to get insurance now . I need something done anout this matter
I was not aware I did not have auto coverage, I was not informed . This is unacceptable and what if there was an accident? This would have been delta with asap if I knew .
If I could give no stars would be great
If I could give no stars would be great
I need to report the manager at rush River bel air she is obviously taking something to make her act the way she does so disrespectful rude, unprofessional I will never spend another dollar at that store
The iPhone App has Abysmal Availability
I suspect nobody at Belair Direct or at least the IT department has zero clue as to what it means to participate in electronic commerce. The app is always failing when you try and access anything like payment due dates, insurance cards or even coverages. The app is worthless with a capital W. It always says "something went wrong". I submitted this information to the development team and a developer answered if you could provide some details we can help. Seriously? How utterly stupid are they? I have an iPhone with all software up to date (iOS 26.5.2) and the app fails to connect to the back end 99% of the time. There is no other explanation one can provide other than this IT team needs to be led out the door.
