Smaller bags = even more expensive
Benevo has recently made its bags of dry dog food smaller and it is now much worse value. As if vegan dog food wasn't expensive enough already! Fortunately, there are other brands available at better value.

Dear James, for 20 years we've had a 2kg and a 15kg bag as this suited the market. Since the large shift to online shopping, especially after lockdown in 2020, online orders, delivered by courier account for the majority of sales. Postal limits of 2kg means people buying a small bag+packaging, have to send it with an expensive courier, rather than using Royal Mail post. By reducing the bag to 1.8kg we can pack and post a small bag at a cheaper rate to customers everywhere the post can go, and although the per kilo price is slightly higher, this probably saves people money on post.
A similar issue came up with 15kg bags. Marketplaces penalise large bulky goods, because it doesn't fit conventional belts, packaging stations etc and as pet food is a low margin product, penalties have a big effect and would have to be passed to consumers in the end. A shift to a more common 10kg size puts us under that barrier and saves on fees. You can also get 2 x 10kg in one parcel, where as 2 x 15kg with packaging is actually over the 30kg limit of DPD for example, which would cause a charge to be applied. So it's more efficient on postage too. Like the 1.8kg bag, the price per kilo has risen slightly, but it's inline with inflation and the upgrade to recyclable packaging amongst other supply costs.
I understand no one likes a price rise, my local supermarket chop and change prices on regular items all the time. The goods news is we are positive we will not need another price change for some time. Darrell, CoFounder :)

Need sensitive stomach options
Arrived in good time. The sample bags were not in sealed pre-manufactured bags which didn’t look as healthy. The food was liked by all the pets. But one got diarrhoea from the biscuits so I’m unable to purchase again. If Benevo created a biscuit for sensitive stomachs, I would try them again. Happy to offer Plantbased pet food to my pets.

Having had a collie puppy really poorly…
Having had a collie puppy really poorly with Giardia after several rounds of meds he was left with a sensitive tummy and possible food allergies (animal protein). I tried changing his meat diet to a fish diet and then into hydrolized protein (which has a really low score on the nutritional front). I wasn’t happy to keep him on this long term so started to look for something new. That’s when I discovered vegan dog diets. I am not vegan myself but wanted to find a good quality food that didn’t cause a reaction in him. Also he lost his appetite on the tasteless hydrolysed diet! Started Benevo in late December and I have to say it has made a big difference. 1. He enjoys his food which is a huge relief 2. His digestive system is more stable (I don’t think anything would solve it completely but we are 80% there). This food is a good rated food with great ingredients. I am even going to be transitioning our 3 collie into this food shortly. Thank you!!

We're absolutely thrilled to hear that Benevo has made such a positive difference for your collie after his struggles with Giardia and the subsequent digestive issues. Going from multiple rounds of medication to food allergies and then tasteless hydrolysed protein must have been really challenging for both of you - it's brilliant that he's now enjoying his food again and his digestive system has stabilised so much.
The fact that he lost his appetite on the hydrolysed diet but is now enthusiastic about Benevo really speaks volumes. Dogs know what they like, and it's wonderful that he's getting both nutrition and enjoyment from his meals again.
It's also great to hear you're confident enough in the results to transition your other collie onto Benevo too - that's the ultimate vote of confidence!
You don't need to be vegan yourself to recognise good quality, nutritionally complete food, and we're so pleased Benevo has been the solution you were looking for.

I'm sure it's great, but not for my cat
My cat refuses to eat Benevo wet or dry food, even when well mixed with her usual food.
Well done for trying but it doesn't work for this cat.

Our Welsh border Collie loves the vegan dry food. He eats it in preference to everything else. In a taste test he picked it out and left all the wet and dry meaty dog food. Happy days.
