Component failure under warranty
We recently purchased the excellent Aether 7 on the cycle to work scheme . Unfortunately the rear derailleur broke whilst riding in South wales . We rang the factory and spoke to Dean who organised for us to visit the dealer in Reading to replace the part under warranty . In under 30 mins the bike was fixed and we were on our way !! Excellent service indeed .
AMAZING!!
AMAZING!!! I got into mtb with a bike older than me, I grew out of it and decided after 3 years of saving it’s time to buy a proper bike, I looked at bird as it’s local and a unique bike. I bought and Aries 145LT and I love it!! I was servicing my bearings and stripped a bolt, went into panic mode, as I had a jam the next day, decided to call up Dan from bird, and it was 5 minutes till closing time, but Dan waited till I arrived and fitted a new frame bolt free of charge and was so kind about it! Best customer service ever!!
Pleasure to deal with and a fantastic bike
I bought a Bike from them about 8 months ago and found everyone I had contact with to be friendly and incredibly helpful, despite all my annoying queries. The bike is superb and being able to spec it exactly how I wanted was brilliant.
I've just been in touch with them about a failed freehub and within 15 mins of sending an email they had replied to say they would get a new on in the post to me. Fantastic customer service and I couldn't fault any of my dealings with them.
Great product. Fantastic service
Purchased the Aether 9 approx 6 months ago - the bike is just fantastic, so pleased with it. The pre-sale and aftersale service has been outstanding, also. Always a quick reply via email, and you can actually speak to a personon the phone - insane. Advice has been excellent from Ben.
Thanks so much.
Top notch
Top notch. I've purchased 3 bikes from Bird over the years and have to say that every aspect of the product & business is worthy of 5 stars. The team's customer service both pre- and post-sales is stellar. Flexible build options, regular updates on build times, detailed consultation on frame type, frame size & components, getting set-up on your new bike, advice on upgrades and spare parts, and a brilliant social media following & community to boot. The bikes...? ...Awesome.
Bought my bike from them about 2 months…
Bought my bike from them about 2 months ago. The process was brilliant. I kept on changing my mind about bits of the spec but they happily dealt with it. They even didn't mind when I popped back after a few weeks to have the handlebars trimmed.
Bird Cycleworks live up to their rep.
When I first considered the idea of buying a mountain bike I had never heard of Bird and I was thinking of the many other brands that you can buy in a shop. While I’m sure they all make a good bike, none of them provided the frame geo/custom build spec/bang for buck combo that I was looking for. I was put onto Bird by a random YouTube video and am very glad was.
Months of research later, after confirming Bird’s stellar rep in the community and learning about every individual part of a build, I came to the conclusion that if I wanted it to be do it once/do it right; I’d buy my bike from them.
After designing my build I placed my order with them, but while I waited for my build slot I kept researching and learning. This resulted in me changing my build on multiple occasions as I tweaked almost every bit of it, to make it perfect for me. Not just close enough, but perfect. Now after giving it plenty of abuse, there’s nothing whatsoever I would change or want to upgrade and that’s the beauty of a custom build.
The team are super easy to deal with, communicate very effectively, answer phone calls and emails quickly, and never seem to run out of patience with you. They are also experienced mountain bikers and will happily give advice based on their own practical experience if you need it.
The bike was delivered on time, in perfect condition and was as easy to set up as they said it would be. Had I bought from a shop, I wouldn’t have got the spec I wanted, without over paying for it, and I wouldn’t have got the satisfaction of coming down a hard descent with the bike absolutely eating it up and thinking I spec’d this.
Bird have got their rep in the community for a reason.
Insane bikes, insane people
Not only do they have insane bikes, but their customer service as such is insane also. I have emailed them multiple times with enquiries and when I need help with choosing the right size parts for the build I’m undergoing, they always are so helpful giving me exactly what I need. Mint company I 100% recommend
One Bird is never enough!
After owning a few Birds now from hardtail to full suss over the years.
I cant but praise and marvel at how far this company has come.
The service is second to none and they're always there to help out when needed.
The bikes are just an excellent ride.
I shall be speccing up my next Bird this year.
Keep up the good work!
You will want every one in the range
These are great bikes, so great that I bought two! The AM9 and Aether 9c are amazing and you won't find another manufacturer that can add such a great build spec for the cost. The buying process is easy and everything goes extremely well - I recommend without hesitation.

Couldn’t be happier with my Aether7.
Couldn’t be happier with my Aether7.
Built it up with Lyrics (150mm) and coil shock.
Berms, jumps, manuals.. aether boosts this.
On singletrack it is also great.
Overall just a very fun and fast bike.
Also customer service is fantastic.
Awesome bike, great customer service!
Ordered an Aether9 just after new year. Went for a frameset+wheels due to the Brexit related import duties for complete bikes, Bird sent it out within a week.
It's a great bike from what I can tell from riding it in the snow and mud so far, climbs really well and is fun when pointed downhill.
They do have a great customer service too! They are quick to answer and were always very helpful, both before and after buying the bike.
Bird Rocks!!
Purchased a Bird Aether 9C (probably one of the first shipped to the USA) and I absolutely love the bike. the build is fantastic and the bike is an all-out ripper! In fact, I love it so much, I just ordered an Aether 9 in aluminum. The team at Bird is simply the best and they are making bikes that you simply cannot find in the U.S. The bikes' geometry, quality, selection of components, value, and the best customer service available make Bird Bikes an outstanding company. Browse through their website or give them a call. You won't be disappointed!
Aeris AM9
Took delivery of my Aeris AM9 in December and my only complaint is that the weather has been dreadful since!
The bike is unbelievably good and supremely capable but the thing that surprised me the most was how well it climbs. Hands down the best climbing bike I've ever ridden. I expected the AM9 to be good on the descents and I've not been disappointed. Just need the Covid situation and the weather to improve and I can go out and ride more.
In terms of customer service, Bird cannot be faulted. Ben was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and guided me through the whole decision making process and he's been spot on about sizing (I'm 6ft and on a L) and the componentry choices. Having placed my order when parts were in short supply (thanks to Covid), I got regular updates on progress and was able to change my choices to suit.
Absolutely first class experience and I would unreservedly recommend Bird to anyone
Bird AM9: fan-bloody-tastic
Bought an AM9 back in March 2020. Prior to this I was riding a 2019 Kona Process 153 and a 2019 Whyte T130; both great bikes. The AM9 was my first 29er (I am 5'8" or 172cm), and I went with a Medium.
The AM9 is fantastic. It is everything that Bird said it would be; poppy, lively, FUN. I change bikes fairly regularly, as I like to try different bikes, but I will be sticking with the AM9 for a while.
The icing on the cake is the raw finish and being able to select your own components, making the bike great value for money.
The second layer of icing on the cake is the great customer service.
Very happy and proud Bird owner.
Bird Aeris AM 160
Bought a Bird Aeris AM 160. It was bought during covid so as expected the delivery will be a little slower etc. When I received the bike I had a few problems, air in brakes, kinked gear cables, and the gears weren’t cycling properly out of the box. Rang bird up and they said take it to my local bike shop to get it sorted. Did that then bird refunded me fully for the money I spent on the bike to get it back like new. Bike I’m general though rides fantastic.
My short overview would be:
Great customer service
Needs to have extra attention to detail when sending out the bikes to make sure there in tip top ready for the customer.
Would recommend bird changing the colours on there frames as there not the best design. A little weird looking in my opinion. Orange and blue? Regret getting that colour frame now. Shame I can’t change it.

The AM9 is hands down the best bike I have ever owned. The warranty on a new bird is also second to none. In addition Bird have simply the best customer service I have ever experienced; patient and understanding-I doubt you’ll find that from any other direct to consumer brand in the world.
145lt linkage
I've had my bike(aeris1450 for a few months and it's great as expressed in a previous review I wrote. this is about my 160 linkage kit. Once ordered it arrived promptly and well packaged however, upon trying to fit it it became apparent that the axle thread was not cut properly. After sending some photos and a description to bird for the warranty it was sorted very quickly and I collected the linkage from Eversley HQ. This time it fit with ease and has made a noticeable difference to how the bike performs.
Great service
