Calories are frequently wrong
Calories are frequently wrong, too high or too low depending on labels. For example, takes low carb as almost 0carb.
Photo ai is wonky and always neeeds adjustments, and even if I put in data directly in macro form, it is difficult to amend or understand what it has done.
Time stamp should be amendable, recipes are weird to engage with.

BitePal has quietly changed how I think about food. I pay more attention to the quality of what I cook and what I put on my plate, and I credit the app for that shift. It's convenient, it doesn't stress me out, and — I have to say — the raccoon is a huge part of why I keep opening it. Small detail, big difference.
Another thing worth mentioning: the food recognition has come a long way over these two years. Really impressive progress. It's not perfect yet, and I'd love to see it get even more accurate, so my message to the team is simple — keep going, you're on the right track. Thank you for the work you put into this.

Really fun and easy to use. The calorie estimates aren’t always spot-on, but they’re close enough to be useful. There’s a good amount of functionality even on the free plan, and the raccoon theme is a nice touch. Great if you enjoy tracking things like coffee, steps, expenses, etc.

Super easy calorie tracking by just taking a photo at what you eat. Also it reminds me to log every time I’m eating, so I have no chances to forget to log. Weekly statistics clearly shows me summary of my week by week eating habits and it’s just amazing, cause I finally got what’s the main problem of my eating. Additionally thanks for having fasting tracker. It’s really helpful!

Cool app with a very cute mascot)
Cool app with a very cute mascot) I've been using it for more than a year - it's very convenient to track all your food, macros and fiber just with a camera. Love the gamification too: you can earn bitecoins for logging food and spend them on clothes for your raccoon!
What I'd like to see improved: more accurate food tracking (sometimes the weight is off) and apple health synchronization for better calorie deficit tracking.

Fantastic customer service
I got a new phone and when I downloaded Bitepal on my new phone it didn’t want to log in because when I registered I accidentally made a typo in my email. Of course could not get a recovery email so had to contact their support team. I was incredibly impressed with Jake, responding almost immediately and even helping me out over the weekend.
Other than that, the app is super engaging and really easy to use. I like that you can just type out exactly what you ate and it analyses it all together instead have to manually enter each thing as with other apps.
Love it and definitely worth the investment!

Shady company and useless app
I work in clinical nutrition, and I do not find this app useful. I downloaded it with a trial offer (who knows when), didn’t like the app, and thought I canceled it. I opened my credit card statement today to find a $99.99 charge from BitePal… a big surprise to say the least. I was told I only had an 2-day window for a refund once the renewal processed, and since it happened over 2 weeks ago, I’m ineligible. I didn’t get an email (yes I checked the spam folder), not a heads up about the charge, nor a receipt. Glad I have another year’s access at a ridiculous price. This is predatory.
