Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 387 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumer feedback heavily points towards issues with product quality, noting that received items frequently looked much less substantial or fresh than advertised. Many people mentioned significant problems with the delivery service, such as items arriving late, being damaged, or not arriving on the scheduled date. Customers also reported that the service interactions and post-purchase support were disappointing, with claims of unresponsive communication. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that some flowers did arrive looking beautiful or that they had a potentially acceptable final product. However, some reviewers also noted that their order was much smaller than expected for the price paid, or they received items that were past their freshness date. A few other people also felt that substitution offers, like chocolates instead of the correct product, were presented alongside delayed deliveries.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Arrived late, with literally 2 types of flowers and a bunch of greenery. All wilted the next day, after spending the weekend with nz post with no water.
The roses were already brown and spotty. Almost impossible to talk to a human over email, constantly getting the same auto reply.
Will be takin this further once I am through the horrible returns/complaints process.

Order not delivered

I ordered flowers to be delivered to my wife's place of employment for our anniversary. I stipulated that it be delivered by 4pm. When she left work at 5 she still hadn't received anything. When I called I was informed that they tried to deliver at 5:30 but no one was there, so they left it outside the gate. Now I can't get a refund because the claim that it was delivered. Never again.

Bloomex masquerades as Mel's Flowers - poor service

I bought flowers on Friday night for a next day (Satruday) delivery through Mel's Flowers. The website gave the distinct impression that it was a local Nelson florist.
I had a call early Saturday from a call centre to ask if a Tuesday delivery would be acceptable as they were busy. I made it very clear that this was not acceptable and that I needed an immediate refund. I then got an automated email refusing the refund and offering a store credit or a redirection. Neither were acceptable.I then tried calling and got an Australian Call Centre at Bloomex. They also refused the refund.
I have started a disputed transaction process with Visa.
The dispute basis is they represented on their website that they could deliver fresh flowers from a local florist the next day. They could not do so and are refusing a refund.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND Mel's Flowers or Bloomex for this reason.

Update

Update: my inlaws bought me flowers for my birthday that did not arrive end of May. I made my complaint to Allan who thought he had put me on hold and said "I think she's an African woman" twice. Very irrelavant comment that riled me up and was advised that he was not talking to me and hung up. Flowers were redirected for the 1st of June by Allan who was talking to my partner at this stage. Message came through saying Monday is not a delivery date in my area, so it will arrive on the 2nd of June. Nothing. I sent an email advising of non delivery and asking for an explanation to that irrelavant comment. An email came through advising that there was no one by my name at the address that was there. There is someone on-site 24/7 plus there was no call.
3rd of June, I called and asked for a refund. I hazard that I was not tolerating b.s that the lady I was speaking to Kylie, who went away for a couple of minutes, came back and advised that I will be getting a refund and an email/text will be sent through to me on the 4th. No email or text came.
I have been emailing this complaint since and I cc'd A current Affair, ACCC, all their customer care emails including the one in Canada as that is where their headquarters is. Next stop is Fair trading Queensland.
They sent an email to my inlaws on the 19th saying flowers were lost in transit, offering a credit or new delivery. Who would want to deal with this company again? Not me! I am wondering if this was their response to the case because that email seemed like an auto response. We want a refund and and explanation. Save your money or better yet, send the money to your loved ones and instruct them to go to their local florist because BLOOMEX is playing in your face. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Still scamming people I see!

Still scamming people I see!
I have spent 5 weeks and dozens of emails which just go around in circles and generic reply’s.
You won’t get your money back and they refuse to supply me with an address.
Someone on here suggested reporting them to the NZ commerce commission, the more people that do so hopefully will see an end to this theft

This company are atrocious

This company are atrocious, please do not use. They sent my sister a woeful looking bouquet of flowers and when I contacted them it took 3 weeks to even get a decent response. They don't engage in on line chat. You can't get hold of them by phone. You just have to wait for them to answer their e mails. Their policy is they don't give refunds so I agreed to a replacement bouquet which never arrived! In the end I went through my card company who gave me a full refund. I will never use Bloomex again.

Also trading as Mel’s Flowers NZ

Also trading as Mel’s Flowers NZ. Late, poor quality. Offered refund of same day delivery fee and $30 store credit. Useless as I will not use this service again. Beware of the website over promising products and delivery! I can see it’s not isolated either.

Wish I had read reviews first

Wish I had read reviews first! Flowers arrived 3 days late for mothers day despite advertising they would be delivered on the day. Company wouldn't respond to any of my emails. When the flowers finally arrived they were not anything like what was ordered. They were a small bunch when we had paid for an extra large one and the flowers were totally different. What a waste of money. Couldn't have done worse. Only giving them one star so I can post a review.

Bloomex was APALLING to say the least

Bloomex was APALLING to say the least. I called them on a Saturday & they assured me that the flowers would be delivered the same day. As you would expect, given that they charged me a $5 surcharge for the privilege of delivering that very day even though they are flowers & a living item.

Once NZ Post picked the flowers up I received an email saying they expected delivery to be 3 days later. I promptly contacted Bloomex to double check that they would be delivered on the day they were ordered given that they would wilt & that I had paid an extra surcharge to have the same day delivery. A person on the end of the phone assured me that they would be delivered that day. They weren't.

I happened to be at the delivery address I had requested today (3 days after ordering) when the flowers arrived - in a sealed box that they had been in since Sat (when ordered & today is Tuesday). Frankly, I was embarrassed at the state of the flowers - they were wilted & the bunch was so small. No surprises that they were wilted after soending the last 3 days in a dark sealed box.

For a cost of $97.00 I would have expected a far better service, quality of product & THE ACTAUL TRUTH about a delivery date. To be told I needed to pay a surcharge over & above their normal delivery fee for same day service & to call & be reassured that they would provide a same day service & then to have the flowers arrive in a poor state 3 day later is absolutely unacceptable.

To anyone who reads this - STAY AWAY FROM BLOOMEX. As it transpires, they aren't even based in NZ - their call centre is in Europe & the whole business is a farce.

One star is too much for this company

One star is too much for this company. The mothers day gift basket was an absolute joke. Including delivery it was just under $300, and the box contained 6 plastic pots of candy floss, 6 packets of dry cream crackers and 13 chocolate bars, of only two flavours. I wish I could upload pictures to show this utterly disappointing joke of a gift basket, which was clearly nothing like what was advertised. I complained about it, and sent photos and was treated as if I was trying to scam them. They finally offered a $50 credit, which would have forced us to spend more money with them. I don't know what was the bigger joke - the gift basket or the offer of a $50 credit. Do not use this company.
