Horrible customer service.
Called customer service twice. Was put on hold twice and left there. Finally hung up both times. Customer service could not speak decent English. I have had my card for years but will discontinue use now. Especially after reading about people getting their money stolen. I think maybe Walmart has split with Amex on this. I don't know but now Walmart charges $4 to add money to account. Good luck Americans. You are screwed....

Communication needs work & accepting PO Boxes as a second mailing option
They can approve with accepting PO Boxes as a second option for they customers. Also, I had got an email on April 1 stating that my physical address needed to be changed inorder for them to mail out my new card or they will suspend my account in 30 days. I did change my mailing address online on March 31. I had to call them on April 2 to see why I got the email when I already changed it online. They lady I spoke to had the nerve to tell me that they had my old one and she needed to verify my new address through the ups system, to see if it is a legit mailing address. Which it is but, somehow they got my address mixed up with the old one. Then, she also tells me that I have to call them to change it with them on their end as well. I told her well why online it don't say that I need to call them as well. I am trying to figure out, what's the point for having an online account if you can't change your address on there and they can go off of that, Smh! there communication is poor and the fact that you get only one option to use for mailing is poor as well. They need to communicate better with their customers. They told me many customers have complained about want to use their PO Boxes as well for mailing but they still have not considered changing their option. Smh!!!

No automated system that allows contact with a live person for help
I tried to contact bluebird but it is impossible to speak to a customer care rep. The automated system gives no option. I wanted to get help with a transaction. I pressed for lost or stolen and was connected to someone I could barely understand through his accent then he hung up on me. Outsourcing will be their downfall. There was a time when you could speak to someone who understood clearly your concern and treated you with respect. NO MORE!! Bring c.c back to US reps.

I got a card for my kiddo and as soon as I transferred money from my bank account to the Bluebird account they closed it, sent me an email saying I violated the deposit agreement and that my account was permanently suspended and that I could send them a dispute in writing. I tried calling multiple customer service numbers and the system tells me my account is permanently suspended and hangs up on me and won’t let me speak to a live representative. THEY STOLE MY MONEY!!

Someone fraudulently opened an online account with them using my name & address. I've been trying to contact them to have the account closed. Their phone system won't let me talk to anyone without entering at least part of my social security number. Their website lists no other way of contacting them (other than a mailing address for reporting fraudulent charges). I've had to contact the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation with a complaint. I see below the option to have a copy of this review sent to info AT bluebird DOT com, so I will try that email next.

Provided evidence yet theft charge denied without recourse
Was charged by an obviously fake company with an absurd made-up address in Chicago Utah! I got a letter from the real company that stated I do not have an account with them and that they didn't charge me and to dispute it with my bank. I showed this letter to the Bluebird dispute team and they determined that the charge was legit and denied my dispute without recourse. Even if the company that supposedly charged you writes a letter saying they did not, Bluebird will not honor your dispute. I will be changing companies as soon as I can switch my Direct Deposit over to a new one. Not recommended unless you want your money stolen and nothing done about it. Believe the bad reviews!
Very Disappointed.
I just started receiving Social Security. My first payment is due next Wednesday. I called Bluebird to find out when I should expect my direct deposit and was told that it could be up to 24 hours AFTER the scheduled payment date. I got this card after watching their ad claiming that they paid up to 2 days early. Now Im getting a completely different story. I was a hot mess to even get through to a customer service representative and when I DID get through I got an extremely rude Filipino with an attitude that he didn't care. I cant wait to go back to a regular bank. At least I know that I'll be paid by the date when I should and not when Bluebird chooses to pay me.

AWFUL. Tried to deposit a check from my own account drawn on another bank. DENIED. Then tried making a deposit of another check payable to me written by a person for whom I did work. DENIED. No explanation, just received an email it was denied. I am closing my account. Don’t waste your time.

I Can Confirm, They ARE the Worst
I needed a reloadable card to pay for transportation. The perks seemed like they would be a good fit for my needs; I'm disabled and on a fixed income, and not always able to get to my bank. A little bit about me: I have 21 years in the banking and legal fields under my belt. I'm not dumb, or clueless, and I don't struggle to understand simple concepts. I can certainly read the heck out of my bank statements. My first issue happened when my bank changed its name and issued a new debit card. When I tried to link it to my Bluebird account, Bluebird claimed that I was committing fraud because the number was similar, and banned me forever. Well, after 3 hours on the phone and a lot of yelling, they finally understood that I verified all the info, my bank just went through a name change. But they still treated me like I was a criminal. Then I had my bank info stolen, so I ended up having to link a completely different card. After 5 weeks back and forth, and telling them that their "micro" deposits first didn't show up, and then when they did, it was a number greater than 2 but the system wouldn't recognize any of them, they banned my debit card. Permanently. Oh, but I was welcome to try another card...but if I did, it could be fraudulent. Also, if I chose to close my account, I'd have to go to a Walmart to claim the money in the account. Just as a side note, my favorite part out of all of my phone calls is when the CSRs just put their end on mute when they don't feel like answering any questions, like "Can you validate my card if I give you the amounts?" or "Where do I click for that?"

Im calling because i need my email changed because I lost it. and so i give them EVERY SINGLE OTHER BIT OF INFORMATION. I give them the card details, the username, the password, my date of birth, my id, but NO. Because I get MY EMAIL HACKED i cant access it, they cant solve any actual problem because their "system" just cant process the idea of someone needing to have an email changed because THEY CANT ACCESS IT ANYMORE.
I have had plenty of bad customer service throughout the years from hotels and tech companies, but this, THIS is the worst. By far the worse service. Because if you dont have even a SINGLE nugget of information everything you have is lost. I am planning on taking LEGAL ACTION, because they have stolen money from me because I cant give them a DAMN EMAIL ADDRESS.
Oh yeah and btw, the US and International numbers are the same thing like many other customer services.

Stay away from bluebird prepaid account. I used this card for about 6 years. All I used it for was saving and direct deposit. Today they decided to permanently close my account with $5200 remaining on the balance. I woke up to my email this morning stating my account is temporarily suspended. I call customer service and they tell me my account is permanently suspended because I went against bluebird guidelines. When I try to call back they hang up on me. I called a second time the lady laughed then hung up on me. Mind you both times I called they were foreigners. I have nothing against foreign people but if I knew bluebird wasn’t created in the USA I would’ve refused to open the account in the first place. On the phone they stated i would have to write a letter to who knows what . Like I mentioned earlier, all I used it for was direct deposit and saving. $5200 down the drain. I don’t know if I’m being punished but I really don’t appreciate this. Now that this has happened to me I’m now deciding to read the reviews of the same thing happening to a lot of us. Is the government behind this? Why is this bluebird scam party still active??????????? It wouldn’t let me have a account because of what ever bluebird did when they declined my fraudulent charges and closed my account! Double charged
I called customer service to dispute a duplicate transaction from Amazon, and spoke with Lauren. I informed her that Amazon had placed a hold on my funds for an order, but had already settled the purchase (1 charge on hold and 1 charge when shipped). I had documentation from Amazon requesting a release of the funds on hold back to my account and noting the transaction IDs, but lauren gave me the blanketed "we cannot release funds on hold" speech. I reiterated that the second charge was not approved and asked for a manager. Lauren stated the manager couldn't help with this and offered to transfer me to the fraud department. Very poor customer service.
