Salesman of the year not.

Want be recommending this lot anytime soon.!!
There salesman “mark” is a “liar” and an arrogant fool which doesn’t come at an extra cost with him.
We recently purchased an suv from this dealer it was back with them within 30days not fit for our purpose due to engine management light issues. Dpf issues.
Mark likes you to hear what he wants you to here. I’d suggest Never to ask for a call back as it never happens. In fact when he croaks it the inscription on his stone will say “I’ll call you back sir”
They are basing there business on Selling high end cars with low mileage bought at auction most but not all have engine management faults
look at other reviews to clarify this
i’d also suggest you google search the directors and the business name before buying anything.very disappointing indeed.

Awful

Awful - Go to an established dealer instead. I'm not sure if Braidwood check the vehicles at all...
Bought a Jaguar i-pace 29th Nov 2023 for £25,490.
1) Dealer agreed part exchange price for my car (they had seen my trade-in and had the reg plate). On the day I went to collect my car they renegotiated and halved my part exchange price from £500 to £250 (I should have backed out then).
2) Driving home from the dealer I realised the cruse control didn't work. And I had no floor mats! They collected the car and arranged a repair. I got it back the next day with some floor mats (But I had to beg for those).
3) The car had a slow puncture. I knew there was no point in contacting the dealer so I replaced the tyre (£300).
4) In May (Scotland's first hot day of the year) I realised the aircon wasn't working). The dealer said I'd better get it topped up and that was my responsibility (£140).
5) Topped up the aircon (20th May) and it worked for 4-5 days. Called the dealer who said it might be broken and I should talk to the warranty provider.
6) Put the car into the manufacture and it's (£2800) to fix the aircon issue.
7) By that point I had missed the warranty date (My Bad). 6 mth warranty had expired.
I messed up. But I do feel if Braidwood did any real checks on their cars I wouldn't be in this mess and so out of pocket.
Altogether and awful experience.

I find it astonishing that you see fit to award one star, for the following reasons;
1)The trade in was an indicative valuation on the registration number, mileage and description given by yourself on the initial visit and, therefore, subject to viewing.
Moving on, there was no obligation on your part to accept the reduced figure, once we had physically seen the car. You could quite simply have refused and sold the car elsewhere, or simply pulled out of the deal.
2) Cruise control issue: As you've quite rightly stated it was satisfactorily repaired and returned to you within a day. So what's the issue?
Vehicles DO NOT come supplied with floor mats from the factory, so I don't understand your dismay at there being none in a used vehicle. In any case, you were then supplied with suitable mats free of charge.
3)The slow puncture can hardly be attributed to ourselves. You know full well that this could happen any time during the course of you driving the car. It beggars belief that you think we should be held accountable for this issue.
4) The air conditioning was fully operational when the car left our premises, therefore, it is unfortunate that almost 6 months later it became apparent that a fault had occurred within the system.
However, the car is a used vehicle, and by the very nature of such, they may require occasional maintenance.
5) The dealer who re-gassed the air conditioning system should have realised that there was a more serious issue with the system whilst carrying out the procedure, as it would have been evident that there was leakage.
I assume they refunded your £140 when it was explained to them that the issue was more than just a top-up requirement?
Had they done so at that time, then the warranty applied to the car would still have been valid, and the fault subsequently covered under the agreement.
As a footnote, I have to also remind you that you demanded a new door seal on date of purchase, which we duly acquired from Jaguar but remains uncollected on our premises to this day.
Should you still wish to have it fitted, then please contact us at your convenience.

PLEASE READ!

Bought a Range Rover Velar from these back in February 2024 and what a mistake that was.

I specifically asked about the timing chain issue before purchasing the car as its a common and expensive problem and was told by Mark that he didn't know anything about this problem, never had an issues with any velar's that he's sold and it will have full warranty any way.

So we flew up from the south west to Edinburgh, was collected by someone who was extremely annoyed and rude and was told 5 mins into the drive that he didn't know he had to collect us until that morning and he had other plans so was pissed off.

When we arrived he said hello gave me the key and went off with someone else. No more than 10 minutes looking around the car and Mark says 'I don't mean to rush u but I have alot of people due in today, so are u happy with the car?' Seemed quite forward considering we just flew from one end of the country to the other.

Before we even got home we had problems with the car, I tried to call Mark and was ignored. I messaged him and got a brief reply later but at this point we was on our way home. 7.5 hour journey.

Just over 2 months later, a light came on the dash. It went to a specialist landrover mechanic who plugged it in to find 14 fault codes...

Main issue was... to do with the timing chain.... other faults were EGR valve, split hose on air con (being winter we didn't realise it wasn't working) and various other codes which have all been forward to the dealer.

I called Mark before any work had started and he said 'get the work done, what ever the warranty company doesn't pay he will sort out with them as they should cover it all' and he can argue it as he uses this company all the time.

£3,800 in garage bills later, 4 weeks without a car and the work is done. Since then Mark has ignored all my emails and messages.

Warranty company only paid £1650 and I chose to have £800 of stuff done at my own choice so there's around £1,350 that was fault codes which we have had to pay and no response from this cow boy dealer.

I've now taken out legal action and have a solicitor who is dealing with this and we are going for full compensation for hassle and stress, repair costs and time loss dealing with this over 5 weeks now.

Mark sells dodgy cars, tells you what you want to hear and then ignores you. Just to clarify... I had this work carried out under Marks' instruction, and now he has ignored all contact.

First class experience

This will be my third car from Braidwood, I have had fantastic service from all the staff especially Mark, not only have they made sure my car was ready when I wanted it but they also did all the paperwork to transfer my private plate and even helped me on a separate occasion with a number plate transfer outwith purchasing a car. The experience of purchasing from Braidwood is in my opinion , relaxing, professional and a pleasure from start to finish .

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE;-

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE;-

I have never ever experienced this shabby, unprofessional, full of excuses purchase of a car in my life!

I bought an Infinity FX on the 14th September and dealt with a salesman from Braidwood Motors called Mark.

The car was immaculate and during the interaction with Mark he was very chatty and friendly and the advert provided all the relevant details that I was looking for in buying a car of this size (service history, MOT, mileage etc) I managed to get what I thought was a good deal for a decent car.

Delivery was arranged for the Friday of that week by low loader to my home address, the car arrived on time and I was over the moon with its appearance, the driver didn’t/couldn’t explain the controls as he didn’t know anything about the car, and handed the keys and documents to me and promptly left.

I drove the car around for about 30 minutes to get a feel for it and loved it, I proceeded to stop at a garage and fill the tank up with fuel, £70 later I was on my way home.

On arriving home I checked through the paperwork only to find no service history provided in the paperwork, I called Mark requesting he could provide this thinking he had forgot to include the service book in the paperwork. He said he would call me back once he had located it, he called back within 10 minutes to declare that he had a telephone conversation with the 75 year old previous owner, who assured Mark that he has had it fully serviced twice per year, but clearly could not provide the service book with the stamps nor invoices he told me, but I got the feeling from Marks attitude that I had to accept that the old man assured him so surely I would accept that! He also proceeded to provide me with advice that I didn’t require service history as the car should only be worth 5k in a years time and at that price nobody would be looking for service history!!! I started to get the impression that Mark was being condescending towards me and I should just listen to him as he knew best. I requested the contact details of the company he arranged the finance through so I could cancel the agreement with them, he told me to Google it when he gave me their name, I still have not located the company so am worried that I still have a ghost financial responsibility that can’t be cancelled because he wouldn’t give me the contact details!!! Very immature attitude.

I told him that I wouldn’t have bought the car had I known it did not have any service history, this is a big 3.0ltr engine so I was expecting to get this as per the garages advertisement of the car. I told him that I was covered by the remote purchase deal and if he couldn’t provide service history I wanted to return the car and cancel the deal, I even asked him for the details of the other Infinity he had in stock which he said he would get back to me but never did. this all took place on the arrival day of the car. His attitude changed completely towards me thereafter.

I asked him if he could arrange to pick the car back up but was abruptly informed that he wouldn’t be doing that and that I would have to get the car back to him, even after I explained that I couldn’t get transport to get home, he suggested I get the train back which would include two taxis and two trains to get home!

Lots more detail to narrate but not a lot of time, to summarise additional to the above:- not paying my deposit back in full nor reimbursing me for the £70 of fuel, stating that he would pay a % of my deposit of £3000 with the balance paid when I get the V5 back to him, which ended up not being paid back when he received the V5 because according to him DVLA had messed up and he couldn’t sell the car without the correct V5, (although it was advertised again the day after I returned it to him at a higher price) stating he would SORN the car (although it’s in my name so not sure if that’s even legal for him to do that without my permission) he got the car back within 2 days so I would have expected my full refund paid back to me directly.

Mark has been nothing but unprofessional once he accepted that he had wrongly sold this car to me with published misinformation regarding very important service history, not responding to messages etc. I will be informing Citizens Advice, the Financial Omnibusman, auto trader and Trading Standards of the attitude of this garage and it’s sales people, in the hope that they may retrain Mark in his attitude and management of customers, at least they will know what he’s been up to! I have messaged the directors by email but suspect they don’t receive this as the details were given to me by Mark!

Late reply due to no knowledge of such on Trustpilot until informed by third party.
Ernie, your disappointment is apparent, but it's relatively clear that your main issue was the lack of evidenced previous service history. Understandable, as we had advertised that there was, without, on this occasion, checking thoroughly.
This then resulted in two Stags butting heads, none of whom prepared to give quarter. Differing points of view, that's all.
In our defence, it was traded in by a previous customer who declared that he had maintained it meticulously, and we had no reason do doubt this given the remarkable condition of the car and the past relationship with the owner. Lesson learned from this: Check all documentation thoroughly.
Having said all that, previous history may be a benefit on an 11 year old car, although it's absolutely not crucial.
Once given the name of the finance company, and you never having heard of this "ghost" company. I'm sure the marketing department of the northern Spanish bank beginning with an S and ending with an R, and having a very distinctive red logo, will be horrified to think that they spend millions on marketing, yet they are unheard of in Scotland.
You have declared how immaculate the car was and how superbly well it drove, however, you didn't mention that the car had been newly M.O.T.'d. It had just been fully serviced. We had applied a one year warranty and paid for 12 months road tax. Furthermore, we had also delivered the car to your house free of charge.
Finally, and most importantly, you got every pound returned to your bank account.
With this in mind, I fail to understand on what basis you feel the need to waste time writing to regulators.
We then sold the car within a few days to a local lady, who is absolutely delighted with her purchase and couldn't be happier.
Hopefully you managed to buy a car that suited your needs.
In our opinion, your scathing review, although not totally without foundation, is certainly uncalled for, once the full narrative is provided.
No humans were physically harmed during this process, and we move on. Thankfully we remain in business and, as a consequence, longstanding employees livelihoods have been preserved.

Excellent Service

My wife and i recently contacted Braidwood motors regarding a Mini Cooper that was being advertised on their Website, after a quick chat with Mark on the phone we headed through the following morning to see the car and go for a test drive. The car was waiting for us and looked fantastic, Mark handed us the keys and let us have a really thorough look over it on our own before heading off on the test drive, upon our return we spoke with Mark and checked over the paperwork, previous owners, service history etc and decided it was the car for us. Mark is very laid back and at no point did we feel under any pressure like we were dealing with a salesman, other that to say he was polite, courteuos and professional, everything that was discussed and promised was delivered, including the Mini which arrived at our address a few days later looking better that we remembered. Dealing with Braidwood Motors was a very easy and pleasant experience and would not hesitate in recommending them to friends and family.

Absolute cowboy !

Absolute cowboy !

Please don’t ignore this review and make the trip to Scotland to buy another lemon from Mark in Livingston . Sadly I was drawn in by the promise of a top notch car at a good price , Mark refusing to drop a penny from the asking price because the car is so pristine with after market extras etc …
The car looked nice upon first inspection , Mark also threw in a gold plated warranty for added peace of mind . We drove away feeling happy with our purchase but that’s where it all went wrong ….we didn’t even make it home to London before the first engine management light came on and nearly £5k later and 8 months on , and diagnostic checks with Land Rover (£200 a visit ) Mark refuses to respond to any communications now after initially promising to ‘look after us ‘ and has no interest once you have left his yard . Here’s the list of issues we have :
Rusting brake discs
Replacement Nox sensor (£1100)
Replacement timing chains (£1700)
Replacement DPF filter (£1400)
Replacement EGR filter
Problems with electrics
No Bluetooth
Service history not in line with Land Rover guidelines which means that the gold plated warranty will not cover any of the above work ! Worthless piece of paper and terrible dealer - avoid at all costs , please !

Amazing company.

Amazing company.

Despite living quite far from this company, they made my purchase really easy and hassle free.

The customer service I received was top notch, I was contacted multiple times with updates regarding my purchase and delivery and they were always polite and cheerful.

They delivered the car to my door step with no issues whatsoever and on time.

Would really recommend them.

The reason car dealers get a bad name

Brought a Rangerover from this company in Livingston from a guy called Mark, i would avoid this company at all cost unless you don't mind being lied to, i'm writing this review as an ex car dealer myself, the one condition of buying this car from Braidwood was that they get the cambelt changed, the reply i had was we have just had it done and there is a bill to prove it and the car is being serviced at the moment while we speak so it will be all ready to go, so i replied, so the cambelt has been done and i don't need to worry, i was told yes a date for delivery was arranged so i paid for the vehicle, when it didn't turn up i phoned up asking why it hadn't turned up and was told the delivery company that were going to deliver it had broken down (when asked they knew nothing about this as they delivered a couple of day after the were called) when the car did get here i phoned the garage and asked where the bill for the cambelt was and informed them that although the car is only 6 years old there is no compressor for the range rover puncture repair system and if i get a puncture i will be in trouble, i was told he never said the cambelt had been done and he would had a look in the other Rangerovers and if there's one in there he would send it, when the car got here first thing i did was check the oil which was black n thin and hadn't been changed along with the filter for a long time, i went to landrover and asked about the cambelt change interval and was told this engine is chain driven and as we all know don't need changing like a cambelt so the dealer really didn't need to lie, i after reading this you still feel the need to use this company i would like to advise people about the distance selling law, i knew about this but the garage forgot to mention it, it only works if you buy online or over the phone Google it!!!
