Don’t not used this company for anything

Don’t not used this company for financing . They are crooks .. they back date their 0% promo to the original balance on the account not the balance owed .. when the 12 month promo is over they don’t start the interest on your balance owed . They retro it back to the original purchase price .. highway robbery

Caution, hidden fees, basically stealing

The most frustrating company! They send out an interest charge weeks after you pay in full!? If I know I'm not spending money I don't check it every day! So then they slap on a $30 late fee! I didn't check for three months once, because once again I knew I had spent nothing. I had to pay $92 for a $2 interest fee AFTER paying in full. I have 7 credit cards/financial apps this is by far the only one that I feel like steals from me.

Terrible customer service to the point of fraud

I never go out of my way to write a review, but this is an exception. I took out the IKEA Projekt Card, which is provided by Bread Financial, and my card expired in early 2025. I wasn’t automatically sent a replacement, so I called to receive a new one and was told it would arrive in 10 business days. Reader, three months and more than a dozen phone calls have passed, and I still don’t have a replacement. Every single time I call, I am told I will receive it in 10 business days. I’ve also been told a supervisor will call me in 10 business days. Neither of those two things ever happened. At one point after I called for the 7th time to inquire what was going on, the customer service representative simply hung up. I pay my credit card on time and I keep my calm every time I interact with them. It should not be difficult to just mail out a new credit card. Or at the very least explain what is going on. Shame on the companies that do business with this predatory financial institution. Whoever runs customer service at Bread Financial is either incompetent, unethical or a combination of both. If you have the misfortune of being involved with this monstrosity, pay off whatever you need to pay off immediately and RUN.

Shady Business Practices

I made a $72 purchase reduced to $68 for signing up for a Michael’s credit card on Nov. 6. Dec rolls around and I haven’t received my credit card or statement. I look online but I can’t log in without the account number which I don’t have without the card or statement. Come Jan. I see a report for Comenity Bank on my credit report. I search for the customer service number and the agent I speak to says she can’t help without me having the account number, so I’ll have to wait for the new card to make a payment or dispute interest and late fees. It has been 3 weeks still no card and statement, I call customer service again this time I’m told the first agent I spoke to was incorrect. Something on their end prevented the cards and statement from being sent. The best they can do is remove some of the additional charges but it’s my responsibility for the others. A $72 bill ended up costing me $96 because I didn’t baby sit them. I’d still be getting interest and late fees applied if I didn’t hunt them down to take care of it. Absolutely ridiculous business practices. Feel crooked and underhanded. I will never sign up for another credit card from this bank.

Disappointing and misleading credit practices

Bread Financial denied my application claiming my “internal credit score” is 490, despite my actual credit score being 840. The stated reasons were baffling: too few credit cards, balances that are “too low,” paying cards off in full every month, and a supposedly high percentage of recent credit inquiries even though I haven’t allowed a hard pull in the last three years and my credit is always frozen.
In addition to all that, they were out of compliance with their Notice of Credit decision not sent out on time (within the 30 days they should be sending it from the day I started my application), and this was sent to the CFPB to handle.

If paying on time, keeping balances low, and avoiding unnecessary credit inquiries are somehow negatives, that’s a serious red flag. Had I known these were considered disqualifying, I never would have authorized a credit check. I was simply applying for a 5% grocery cash back card, not expecting to be penalized for responsible financial behavior.

This experience suggests their approval model favors less financially disciplined customers who carry balances and generate interest, rather than those who manage credit well. I won’t be doing any business with Bread Financial, and I’m sharing this so others with strong credit profiles don’t waste a hard inquiry learning the same lesson.

If there was a below zero rating I would use it. I have been a loyal customer since 2023. I paid all my payments on time and because I decided not to use my card and pay it down, they got upset. There are a lot of complaints with this companies poor business practices. Let me close my own account. You don't do i for me. You won't be around long. I told the CS person to start looking for another job because they are doing some bogus business practices

This company was servicing my…Sportsmans Warehouse Card

This company was servicing my Sportsman's Warehouse Credit Card. (Formerly Comenity Capital Bank) My payment was due on the 28th of the month and I usually paid it between the first and the fifth of the month. After the 28th they would tell me I had a late fee and tell me the payment I paid on the first was too early and credited it to the previous month. I finally got feed up and called, paid my balance and cancelled the card. They then charged me a late charge. I called and said I had made a full payment on November 1 st and they said I paid the balance of $42 dollars after the 28th but ignored the payment made on the first. They then charged me a $48 late fee. I called and complained and was treated very rudely. They refused to discuss the payment I made on the first. Then they hung up. I called back just to pay the late fee to get rid of the problem and they had added another $48 late fee. These people are scam artists, do not open a Sportsman's Warehouse Card.

Stay away at all costs

I wish I could give a 0. This company is a joke. I had 4 different card accounts with this company and they closed all 4 due to lack of activity, according to them. It had only been a couple of months that I carried a 0 balance on them. I was trying to save what little limit I had, to purchase Christmas gifts only to find out they closed my accounts. Bad enough that they lowered all of my limits to only 100 dollars, after having 300 to 500 dollar limits. I never missed or had a late payment either. So I guess they want you to be sure to use your card, no matter what, all the time, even if you know that you will not be able to make the payment, so I was to ruin my credit and good standing with them, just to keep my accounts open?

They can only do balance transfers electronically so if your credit card company only does balance transfers via mail in then you won't be able to do a transfer because Bread wont mail the payment

I would give zero stars of if I could

I would give zero stars if I could. My monthly payments are made timely. With the ease of using the Internet; most companies send out a reminder along with minimum payment due and date. Bread Financial sends a notice with the full balance on the notice. Having Bread Financial as a creditor is similar to working with a collection agency/repossession. They could use a course in customer service. The person(s) who designs the monthly notices should be terminated. My payments have been made timely; they changed my interest rate to 39.99%. I closed the account, but will continue to make payments until the balance is 0. In my opinion; it’s usury!

Difficult and poor customer service

Difficult and poor customer service. Signing into the website is difficult and more complicated than other online banks. Slow to activate accounts and, upon acceptance does not provide the necessary account number in order to access transactions.

My checkbook got stolen

My checkbook got stolen. I called them immediately. They said the automatic payment was in process and couldn’t be stopped. I offered to pay them from my new checking account, but they said they could not accept. I guess the bottom line is I notified them immediately. I offered to pay them and they charged me finance charges and return check charges and they won’t remove them.

Be aware of crook online banks!?

I transferred cash from my Wells Fargo bank to my new savings at Bread savings to open a CD. But when I went to use the cash transferred funds, I was told the cash is on hold for 10 business days! Why cash transfer from Wells Fargo to Bread savings bank would have to be on hold for 10 days when the Brad financial already has over 2 times of the amount in my other CD!? I think one of the reasons may be that Bread Savings offers higher cd rate to pull the money in, then freezes it so they do not have to honor their cd rate!? Bait & switch!? A very dishonest tactic!. BE aware of the online crook banks!? Very unfair to consumers!?

Bread is ok as long as you leave your money there. Once you try to withdraw it is a very slow process and the Customer Service is no help because all they do is read from scripts. They take forever to let you access YOUR money when you make a deposit. It is YOUR money. Not theirs!

Poor Customer Service

I just made a phone call to their customer care team regarding my Dell pay credit account with a promotional balance that is soon ending. I tried to get the information I needed in order to make the best decision possible and once again their customer service team that is not a part of this country obviously is less than helpful and this time they hung up on me. All I can say is it's a shame that Dell pay credit transferred their accounts to them because they definitely do not have very good customer service. I've been in retail as a district manager I understand what it takes to deal with the public, but their personnel in a foreign land do not know how to handle the questions and the detail that needs to be understood by your clients and customers. I hope they will do something to change this and rectify this immediately!

If I could give this bank a 0 review

If I could give this bank a 0 review, I would. I got nothing from this bank but a headache. I tried to pay off my entire balance through their app, and they kept saying they didn't receive the payment. The first time it happened, they didn't inform me until it was due, and I was charged $40 in interest for a late payment. The second time, the payment did not go through again, and they informed me, but they just charged me $30 for a returned payment. That had never happened to me in my entire life. I always make sure I have money in my bank before paying or buying something. $30 is a ridiculous amount. Usually, if the payment is not received, they just inform you that the payment was not completed. This bank would try anything to get money in all possible ways they can. If you try to pay them via phone, it's another $9; so greedy.
