Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs! We were offered a 0% interest rate by a trusted vendor to purchase equipment through Bread Financial. I should have checked reviews before doing so. Bread Financial ran a hard credit check only to tell me the application was flagged as Potentially Fraudulent Activity. They have a driver's license, passport, and other personal information as proof of ID, yet denied the loan because ID could not be verified. The four CSR agents I spoke to were rude and haughty. There are no operations state-side regardless of the address they use on their website.

Completely useless app

Completely useless app! I have a credit card with Comenity Bank which uses the Bread Financial App. Right after signing up with my brand new username and password, it tells me I don't have the correct credentials. Then, if you click on "forgot password," it says, "we're unable to send a code at this time," and also states that text and email are unavailable. OK? That's really helpful! What's the point of the app then if you can't log in under any circumstances? Of course, tech support is nonexistent. I deleted the app. What a waste of time!

I've never used a worse financial services company, and it's not even close. Their website has been broken for two weeks and there's no telling when it'll work again, if it ever will. Truly awful.

Ripped Off

I would give 0 stars if that was an Option.

When Comenity took over from DELL Financial, I enrolled in Paperless statements, I hate paperstatements. In May 2025 I started getting charged for paperstatements when i never asked for paperstatements. I am asking for a refund of 4 months of $2.99 for statements I never asked for. I am not sure why it was changed, I rarely log in except to download the statements. I enrolled in paperless when The account was transferr to comenity from Dell Financial. If i do not get a refund it is because your bank loves to rip people off. I have done business with Dell for over 20 years. I expected better.

I've had an ulta credit card through…

I've had an ulta credit card through comenity for over a year and had never missed a payment/always set a scheduled payment days before the bills deadline up until both june and this month. Due to my scheduled payment incorrectly saving i was charged a late fee, so on top of paying off my bill in full once I was aware it wasn't properly paid, I paid the late fee (which I should have fought.). I refrained from using my card for a few months until last month, and that was a mistake on my end because it did the same thing to me, however I submitted two separate scheduled payments. Thankful I had enough sense to check just in case, because both were nowhere to be seen when I went to verify that they were still pending. Calling customer service to see why this was happening was such a waste of my time, instead of trying to give me an answer or look into it the woman kept repeating where I could make payments at despite me just explaining I've been trying, clearly I would know where to go to make my payments... I finally had to call the number and make a phone payment and it's finally processing, I barely made it since today is the last day to pay before it's considered late. Never opening another credit card through them again.

Incredibly dishonest company

Incredibly dishonest company. I have a VS account with them. They have been pulling auto pay from the same bank account for over a YEAR. I got a return check charge, called customer service to ask why and they said my bank account was closed. it's not. I called my bank and no one tried to take money out. So I called customer service back and found out that comenity (bread financial) had removed a 0 from the number of my bank account causing it to bounce. They apoligized and said they'd refund the charge since it was their error. I paid in full again after they confirmed the number and I thought all was well...then they got back to me with a interest charge on the return check fee and it still wasn't refunded. I contacted CS again only to be told the refund was rejected and they wouldn't pay because my bank account was closed (it wasn't and the payment had clearly gone through for what i had just bought). I'm now arguing back and forth with CS while they tack on MORE late fees for an issue on THEIR end. I'll be closing all my cards through them after this. Imagine being a financial company of this size and not taking responsibility for your staff's TYPO

Card Fails Everywhere, Support Is Useless

This card never works, not for small purchases like $5 groceries, and not for larger ones like $2,500 rent. It’s absolutely useless.

Even when you pay your balance in full, it may take up to a month for your account to reflect the change. The system keeps showing old balances even though payments are cleared.

That so-called 2% reward is nothing but bait; don’t fall for it. I had a credit limit of $2,200 and barely used it because the card seldom worked anywhere.

On top of that, customer service is a nightmare. You have to call multiple times, and it’s routed overseas, where no one seems able to fix the problem.

Honestly, this is one of the most unreliable financial products I’ve ever used. Stay away.

I paid off and closed my account and then I saw they charged me $9.00 AND I DON EVEN HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM.
The card O have with them is Ilta Mastercard. They don6 give a s... about customers. How do I say that? They have no phone number for contact...and their all over the place. You cant6 log in because the credit card takes you to their site and that redirects back to a whole other name, amenity and that won't log you in. You have to go to an old email each time to get to the Mastrrcard log in...As I said I canceled. O! By the way their auto pay automatically cancels you when you with no warning and then you end up with late fees.

After Bread (then Comenity) assumed the…

After Bread (then Comenity) assumed the AAA credit card account, the glaring discrepancy between a real banking entity and Bread was marked. Their interface is crude and far less-intuitive than every other Bank I use and when I questioned, QUESTIONED the source of a charge (which showed no known source), just to see if it was valid, I was told that my CC had been compromised and that they would immediately CANCEL it and re-issue a new one with a different number. THAT WAS NOT MY INTENTION - I had at least 25 auto-pays linked too that card and trying to find them, let alone change them, without inadvertent default is quite a job. EVERY OTHER BANKING CC I have would have simply provided the actual vendor's name and THEN I would have decided if that was a false charge or not. After MUCH protest I finally got someone to assure me that the card would NOT be cancelled and that they would provide the information I requested. About six weeks later I found several auto-charges denied and was told that the card was changed WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Needless to say I have already spent many hours digging out of this mess and am not finished yet. I contacted my primary financial institution and they immediately issued a high-limit card for me to replace this PITA one. I then paid of the outstanding balance (I have NEVER paid a penny in interest charges for any CC) and CANCELLED THE CARD. Never, in my over 50 year career as a Doc have I seen such arrogant incompetence, and I was unable to contact the "powers that be", always getting he same low-level script-reading "customer service" reps. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE USING THE BREAD FINANCIAL CC and am VERY disappointed with AAA for having switched to what appears to be a garage-based incompetent CC processor. Also found, and I am VERY polite and accurate, the AAA rep to be offensive and dismissive - not anything like the old AAA that I have had for 60 years!

So sorry to have to post this extremely negative comment but I would like to prevent anyone else from having to go though this paperwork nightmare. There are better cards elsewhere - use those.

Unaaceptable Customer Service.

Unaaceptable Customer Service.

After opening this account, I asked for a letter of confirmation of ownership so that I could setup direct deposit from my brokerage account. Bread sent a letter with my account number encrypted with asterisks which was not acceptable by my brokerage. I asked for a new letter with an unencrypted account number. After a month of back and forth messages, which sometimes took days for a response, I was told that they could not generate such a letter. ????? It's your bank, you can do whatever the hell you want. It's obvious they just didn't want to and they will no doubt cite that it's for security purposes. BS! I'm the customer, you know I'm the correct customer, you've confirmed I'm the correct customer... Do as I ask!! It's that simple.

Extremely Disappointed with Bread one time customer forgiveness

Extremely Disappointed with Bread Rewards Customer Service

I have been a responsible cardholder with Bread Rewards for a long time — never missed a payment, and I consistently pay well above the minimum due. Despite this strong track record, I was recently charged a $30 late fee, which was both unexpected and frustrating.

When I contacted customer service to dispute the charge, I was offered a one-time courtesy of just $15 — not even the full amount. I asked to speak with a manager, thinking they might recognize my loyalty and history. Unfortunately, the experience only worsened. The manager was dismissive, patronizing, and repeatedly used phrases like, "I'm sorry you're feeling this way," which felt more like a script than genuine support.

Let me be clear: I was not asking for pity — I was asking for fairness. A long-time customer with a spotless payment history should not be nickel-and-dimed over a $30 fee, especially when it's the first and only incident. Their lack of flexibility and empathy speaks volumes.

If you're considering this card, be aware: good customer behavior doesn't seem to count for much here. I’m seriously reconsidering my relationship with this company.

Replacement Credit Card

I need a replacement credit card for Caesars Rewards. I have been trying since the beginning of June, it’s now the end of August. 2 phone calls to customer service,4 secured messages, 6 promises my new card is in the mail! Never received one. Been a customer since 2013. Do not believe anything they say.

Repeated Login Errors Forced Me To Close Account

I signed up for Bread Financial's high-yield savings account in April based on an article on NerdWallet.com. I have been unable to access my account the entire time (4 months) of being a customer. I have had to reset my password every single time I attempted to log in, and then I would frequently get my account locked for using "wrong" login credentials.

After numerous calls to customer support to troubleshoot, I closed my account. I was unable to even transfer money to this account in the first place.

On my call with them today, I learned their internal policy is to request customers to clear their browser cache and/or reset their password every time they attempt to log in. Since I work for a website developer, I know this is not typical. This is a broken website that's poorly managed to the point where potential customers can't even use their services.

If you value your sanity, don't bother with this bank.

Absolute farce of an operation!

Setup an account 8/5, wife listed as coowner. She completes her part via emailed link. We receive letter dated 8/7 demanding her DL, SS card, and a bank statement within 7 days. Documents produced and priority mailed on our dime. Arrives 8/18, she gets a two sentence email saying her account was rejected on 8/19. First call they want to talk to her, but she's not available. Second call I make (with her present) they change their story and I have to talk to their security department which is closed. Third call I give them the whole back story and am hung up on. Fourth call they say we have to start all over again and send her another email. Complete that, still nothing, fifth call and they can't tell me anything, so I just closed the account. (Still waiting on that because the original deposit is still "on hold".)

Setting up a joint account is this insane? What a farce. I put the funds into in to a Vanguard Cash Plus account. The APY is slightly less, but setup was faster than a single call to Bread, and I didn't have to deal with an utter clown show in the process.

Don't waste your time with this crew. Incompetence to this degree is simply staggering.

Developmentally, they are still in kindergarten!

Website is too rudimentary to allow me to enroll online. So called customer support. In fact, spoke with 5 different people on three different days and got a different set of instructions from each one of them! Then got someone who supposedly knew how to set up the kind of account I wanted, and after half an hour learned that so many days had been wasted that they would no longer guarantee the rate I was seeking when I started. I withdrew my application and went elsewhere!

Unreliable, treacherous, scum company

I always had my account in good standing and they just canceled my card for inactivity without sending a letter or email to advise it was going to be closed for such. I used my card one or twice a year for a big purchase. Their rates are ridiculous, but due to having my card for 10 years, that was overlooked. I would NOT recommend getting any bread financial/commenity cards. Terrible company, not to mention they outsource their help desk and are extremely rude.
