There are times in life when you have to make one of the hardest decisions you'll ever face—finding a place where someone you love will spend the final chapter of their life. Our family was blessed to find Brightview Dulles Corner.

The building is beautiful, the food is excellent, and the activities are wonderful, but what truly makes Brightview exceptional is its people.

Every member of the team—from the nurses and caregivers to housekeeping, dining, activities, reception, maintenance, and leadership—treated our mother, Marilyn, with genuine kindness, dignity, and love. They didn't simply care for a resident; they took the time to know her as a person. She was never just another room number or another task to complete. She was Marilyn.

What impressed us most was that this wasn't the kindness of one special caregiver—it was the culture of the entire community. Everyone shared the same commitment to treating residents as individuals, understanding that each person has their own story, personality, and needs. That kind of culture starts with great leadership and extends throughout the entire staff.

The greatest gift Brightview gave our family was peace of mind. Every time we left after a visit, we knew our mother remained surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her. That kind of trust is priceless.

Even after our mother passed away, several members of the Brightview family attended her Celebration of Life. They didn't come because they had to—they came because they truly cared about Marilyn and about our family. That simple act of kindness spoke volumes about the people who work there.

Our mother spent her life caring for others. Seeing that same compassion returned to her during the final chapter of her life is something we will always treasure.

If you are looking for a senior living community where your loved one will be known, respected, and cared for as an individual—not just another resident—I can recommend Brightview Dulles Corner without hesitation.

I was hired as Front Desk Concierge, at my previous employer I worked as a Console Operator, at that position I worked in the Command Center with another Operator, we monitored 4 big screen tvs with cameras covering 50 buildings (interior & exterior), the property perimeter and all parking lots. Also Monitored Classified room alarms, perimeter door alarms, fire and water alarms and the alarm in the Bio area. We also took in external phone calls and internal phone calls from a staff of 8,000 employees. Additionally we served as the first line of Supervision for 16 Security Officers per shift...at Brightview Hunt Valley after minimal and average at best training I was asked to work a 10 hour shift my first day because they were in desperate need, I agreed to do so without hesitation. I did not know everything but did my best and solved many issues by looking at materials provided and felt I did a adequate job considering the circumstances. However I was told by HR that other Directors there though I was overwhelmed which was a insult, that place is one Community with 5 floors one small screen monitor for cameras and a population of residents and staff of about 200, compare that to the situation I was in previously for 18 years and that is a joke. I guess I didnt fit in with the cliq that seems to run that place. I'd also like to add my first shift employed there it was reported to me that 2 of the Directors were in a meeting on one of the upper floors and the screaming could be heard from staff and residents (is that a good look?) it was also reported to me that a aide on the 4th floor in assisted living was drunk, i told them to report it to the Supervisor, later they told me they reported it but the aide was allowed to continue working. (again is that a good thing?)...I really wanted that job, I felt i had the skill set to be very good at it and my goal was to be the best. If I was you i would be hesitant to apply for employment there or expose my loved one to possible aide by a drunk. I gave it a 2 star instead of a one because there are some really good people there, but it seems a cliq of people have control and if you are not accepted by that click you will not enjoy your time there.

My dad had already been diagnosed with dementia when he moved into assisted living at Brightview Fair Oaks and I always expected that he would eventually end up in their memory care unit. What I did not expect was Brightview’s management team making me feel very pressured into moving my dad to memory care before I thought it was appropriate. I felt like they were argumentative and abrasive in their meeting with me, and their reasons for wanting to move him were alarming and scary. I wish I had known at the time that as a family member you have the right to see the staff’s written reports about your loved one, you don’t have to take management’s word for it. In my case, I installed a video camera in my dad’s room which proved to me that their assessments of him were not accurate. They added unnecessary additional stress and worry to what is already an incredibly hard thing to go through, and they made me fearful because I could no longer trust them. I removed my dad from Brightview’s care as quickly as I could and he is now living in a new community.
