Poorly trained staff - unprofessional & rude

Eli in Queenstown was rushed, didn't know the van properly and was inappropriate in his discourse and physically touched my person. Not OK. Frankie took over, was initially a little frosty, but ultimately knew what she was talking about. Outrageous that they don't give you the van house battery fully charged - they actually suggest finding a site close by to charge up overnight! Had great support during the trip when the van had a few glitches - online & by phone - thanks!
Drop off in Christchurch was chaotic. Lolita was unprofessional, rigid and passive aggressive. Glenn drove the airport shuttle & was friendly & very helpful - thanks! Like so many companies it seems that finding staff is an issue. Britz is part of a large conglomerate THL which includes Maui, Hippie, Apollo & Mighty. I won't use them again. Will try a smaller independent company instead.

Booking hassles, but quality of van and service was excellent

Booked Britz via my travel agency and it was a bit aid a challenge trying to agree everything from the UK with the time zone difference and differences between NZ and Oz van specs.
To get confirmation of extras was really hard. Also, they seemed to change the models available between the person I booked and the the pick up time which wa 6 months.
When trying to change the model,it took a very long time (a week) to get confirmation and there was a difference between what was booked and what Britz said was on the agency booking (free 2nd.driver).
However having agreed everything at the last minute, when we arrived in Melbourne the whole checkin process was as smooth as clockwork.
The service assistants were very kind and helpful, giving us advice and support to arrange everything necessary for our trip.
The quality of the van was excellent, with everything working and most little things covered.
The cost of the van for 5 weeks was nearly $7000 which is not cheap at all.
Also, on returning the van to Sydney, it was similarly smooth with excellent service.
So, overall I would recommend and return to them for our next trip, just take into account giving time to get the booking accurate and agreed.

Be careful before parting with your money

2020 we gifted our son, daughter-in-law & two granddaughters a two-week holiday with us to New Zealand. We put aside spending money & purchased flights to Christchurch for May 2020 Shopping around for the best deal for two campervans, Britz came back with the best offer & in January 2020 we paid the full $4,040 for the hire of the vans.
Like many, our plans & granddaughters’ excitement was dashed by the closure of New Zealand due to Covid-19. We were disappointed further when Qantas and Britz refused us a refund, but were reassured our trip would be honoured when borders reopened.
In August 2022 we were able to confirm new dates in April 2023. We incurred $50 extra for Qantas to reschedule our tickets.
What horrified me was the Britz van hire trebled from $2020 to $5,963.00 each in less than 3 years!

That's right, a 300% increase.
We either forfeited what we'd already paid & our airfares, or paid up.

This took much of our spending money, significantly impacting our holiday. I understand increases, but this appears little more than price gouging considering Britz retained our full payment for 3 years, refused a refund with a commitment to honor our original booking when travel resumed. We took Britz at their word, but our good faith was not reciprocated.

Virtually impossible to deal with

Virtually impossible to deal with.
Took over an hour to pick up the van.
They were not even busy.

Since returning it I have needed to contact them and have...

**Been on hold for an hour.
**Left 8 voice messages for them to call me back.
**Sent mail via their web-chat feature.

NO REPLIES, NO CALL BACK, NO SERVICE.

YOU GUYS SUCK.
