This was a three night stay with free…

This was a three night stay with free breakfast for me and my three year old daughter. It was easy to find, but as I'm from Rochdale originally, I already knew where it was. I had to enter my registration into the small screen to get a three day permit. I didn't like being asked for ID, as this wasn't specified that it was needed on Hotels.com, then a form, which the staff said was in case anything happened. It was awkward because I had so many bags and I had to put these down in order to fill in this form with my name and address.

Onto the room itself. It was very basic. I liked the separate table and chairs, and the large chest of draws, which had ample tea, coffee, milk and a good sized kettle that boils water fast. I used a few of the drawers. I liked the cupboard and shelves. I plugged in my mini fridge and it kept my cheese, salami and milk cold the entire time. In fact, I don't know why hotels don't add a mini fridge into rooms. It would be so handy for people and they could eat some decent food, instead of rely on snack stuff.

I liked the big sink in the bathroom, but the toilet roll was very thin and there were only about 100 sheets on each toilet roll. They gave us three rolls, and I had to ask for a fourth. I had blocked sinuses so used about a full toilet roll to blow my nose.

The shower was awful. Drippy and scalding hot. In fact, it took me about ten minutes to get it to a temperature where I could step in without burning my skin. The bath fills up very fast, but the water is extremely hot. The floor is also very slippy so I had to use towels just to make it safe during shower or bath time.

Now onto the beds. They were terrible. Very lumpy and uncomfortable. I wonder if it was memory foam as memory foam makes me sweat, and I hate it.

The bathroom needs some new grouting.

It was so annoying that we could hear the doors banging at all hours. FFS, invest in some doors that close quietly, so as to be considerate of other guests.

Overall, you would think at the prices this hotel is charging that they could renovate and modernise the rooms. If this was a room via airbnb, it is doubtful that they would even be booked.

Although the breakfast was “free”, they seemed to make an effort on the first morning as the full english breakfast appeared hot and fresh, but the second day the beans were very vinegary, the bacon rock hard, and the sauaage and hashbrown okay. I didn’t bother going down for breakfast on the last morning.

Overall, I would not stay again. I’m not a snobby person, but they need to invest in new mattresses for their beds because a good nights sleep is very important.
