Avoid

1/5 stars - Avoid

"Terrible experience with this insurance company. Unresponsive, uncaring, and completely uninterested in helping customers. Phone calls go unanswered, online forms are a waste of time, and complaints fall on deaf ears. They'll happily take your money, but don't expect them to lift a finger to help you when you need it. 2 months+ waiting for a GP call that never comes? No thanks. Don't waste your time or money on this company."

I have attempted to make three claims…

I have attempted to make three claims so far on my Bupa policy. EACH time I must fill in a Moratorium Pre-Authorisation Form to fill in which must also include evidence from my NHS GP that my claim is not for a pre existing condition. If It could get in to see an NHS GP, I would have no need for private medical insurance. All three of my claims have been turned down. In addition, every Bupa representative that I spoke to all gave different reasons for turning down the claims. There was absolutely no logical consensus in there reasoning. It seems they’re just instructed to stonewall and block claims. I’m disgusted and would give them zero stars if possible. AVOID Bupa at all cost!!

Unhelpful - disingenuous - AVOID.

After 6 years with BUPA I feel badly let down. I have hip pain and was given authorisation to see a consultant. He sent me for an MRI. I saw him again to hear his diagnosis. He said an ultrasound guided steroid injection would cure the issue. To my surprise and disappointment BUPA said this was excluded so I paid £460 for it. BUPA has since said that on page 16 of the small print it says that “temporary relief of symptoms” is excluded. This is disingenuous of BUPA and unacceptable. I have cancelled mp policy forthwith.

recent experiences with Bupa are that

recent experiences with Bupa are that, at least administrative it is not what it used to be., Had to lodge complaints now three times - over having been given the wrong information on which consultants I may use and whether they pre-authorise or not. Endless phone calls with long waiting times ...

bupa is a fraud

due to high cover cost I decided to move to another health provider,
I contacted Bupa via email and WhatsApp in order to cancel my cover but both advised me that I have to call Bupa directly for this,
for two days trying to contact Bupa over phone but as soon as selecting the number for cancellation they put you on hold for hours, eventually able to get in touch by pressing the number for new member registration in order to cancel my order which I did!

Poor service from BUPA

I would Iike to give BUPA less than 1 star for the poor service and advise I have been given. This is now the second time that I have been provided a unsatisfactory service. My complaint was not dealt with fully and the correct calls for not listened to. As a result there has been a delay in me receiving the necessary treatment I require.

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would.

Bupa has been charging me TWICE every month — not once, but two times — and apparently sees no issue with it. When I tried to get my money back, they promised a refund, but instead of a proper electronic refund (like literally every other business in the world), they insisted on sending a paper check. Welcome to the 1980s.

It’s been over 3 weeks, and surprise: the check never arrived. This has happened more than once, and every time I reach out, I’m met with radio silence. No follow-up. No escalation. No refund. No one seems to give a single damn.

The support is useless, the process is broken, and the attitude is basically: “We’ve got your money, now go away.” Honestly, it feels like I’ve been scammed by a company that pretends to be professional but can’t even handle basic billing or communication.

Do yourself a favor — stay far away from Bupa. Once they’ve got your money, they’ll disappear. And if something goes wrong? Good luck ever getting it back.

BUPA Dental

BUPA Dental. Unable to make an apt. easily on the phone. Subjected to a very patronising message on the answer phone. Received an email telling me to ‘complete one task’ I. e . filling in a medical questionnaire. As I am a regular customer all these details should already be on your system! The demand was phrased as ifvI am a child at school - it felt quite disrespectful. I hope your customer services will be improved. Irene Stanbury Dip.Cot.

Even one star would be too much for this disgusting company where you would face disrespectful and unprofessional staff fully ignoring your attempts to attract their reasonable attention.

Rubbish! Twice now I’ve tried to get an appointment to see a consultant for myself and a family member, I live in a big city but I’m still being sent 50 miles away! I don’t know why I waste my money.

Promised anytime day or night GP appointements

When I had Richard Washington’s letter promising “ no more waiting “ & access to GPS anytime night or day “ I was delighted with my new BUPA Benefit.
When I tried it however 2 weeks ago I was told to wait from Friday to Monday for an appointment. Upon writing to complain, I had a letter from and then a conversation with Sophie Dobbs who told me the fault was with their contractor eMed and she would pass the complaint to them, she didn’t agrees with my assertion that it was up to BUPA to provide, one way or another, that which they promised.
On 10th January I had a call from John Roebuck ( 01784 466 188 ) who told me that BUPA don’t use eMed and they deal with matters themselves. They however don’t offer “ anytime GPS day or night “ He went onto say that Richard Washington shouldn’t have made the promise !
All very confusing and unsatisfactory considering I have been a member for over 50 years and paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to BUPA.

Can't get any treatment approved, waste of money

I have had Bupa for about six months, and I believe it has been a waste of money. It is practically impossible to use their services. Every time I try to book an appointment, they claim it’s for a pre-existing condition. The way they phrase their questions feels like a trap. If you don’t know the exact date your condition started, they won’t cover your treatment, even if you were referred by one of their specialists. As a result, I have been paying for private healthcare for all the treatments I need, in addition to Bupa. I do not recommend their services; it's better to stick with the NHS to save money.

BUPA abuses customer loyalty

I have had a BUPA policy for many years, initially through work and later privately. Their customer care has continuously deteriorated. On my latest renewal my premium was increased by more than 30% despite having BUPA having paid out less than £300 in 12 years. When I consulted a broker I was offered a new BUPA policy at a much lower price than I have been paying for years. BUPA abuses customers loyalty and has become an exploitative organisation. I have cancelled my policy and moved to another insurer on significantly better terms. I urge anyone covered by BUPA to shop around and regret having been exploited for so many years as a result of not having done so before now

A very Positive '1st time' experience

I've had BUPA cover for nearly two years and July was the first time I needed to use it for two separate ongoing medical conditions.
On both occasions on I found their service to be excellent from my initial telephone call to the medical treatment itself. BUPA telephone responders were unfailingly polite. courteous and helpful and as this was my first claim, they explained the procedure in terms I easily understood.
As I was subject to pre assessment (Moratorium) BUPA authorisation to proceed with treatment was immediate once NHS had returned the forms.
So far my contact with BUPA has been very positive

They are continuously sending spam emails

They are continuously me sending spam emails and asking me leave a review at Trustpilot for a service I have never received. I am not even a Bupa member, why are sending me these spam emails continuously? I've sent several optout and unsubscribe requests but no change so far. Dear Bupa IT management, here is the Trustpilot review you have been asking from a non-member. I hope you enjoy it deeply.

Waste of Money

Was given Bupa as part of a work package, paid extra for family to be included. Unfortunately wife became ill and tried to use the service. Was given options of professionals to see, however they kept missing online appointments, then given a list of people to see, only never able to get an appointment. What's the point. Complained to Bupa only to be told it's not there fault and it is what it is. Thank good for the NHS who managed to help my wife. Will never sign up to these thief's again.

Great service and patient care

Hi - I am fortunate to have BUPA through my company employment and I have recently utilised for surgery on my shoulder.
The BUPA team were great and helped me through all the planning. The triage calls, pre-authorisations and the overall experience was 5 star for me.
Getting through on the phone far better than any experience I have had in a long while. But what really got my heart and drove me to write this review was the fact Jodie in their customer services team sent me flowers post op. At a time when I was in recovery from a painful procedure, feeling low and in need of a pick me up - that did it. Thank-you Jodie and BUPA

4yrs ago great - now awful, no customer service at all

We used Bupa 4yrs ago for an opth appt & all went well. This wk however we have tried to make an appointment & they have been extremely difficult with really poor customer service. Humans are rare (1 lovely lady tried but everything has to go through tech now) & we have been redirected to their 2 apps "Bupablua" & Bupa Touch" - both of which have constant errors & we haven't been able to use! We tried their tech team to be told our acct won't link (?) & that's kind of it ?! We have emailed, tried chat - waited 40minutes without help etc etc. It's been a really difficult process, we still haven't been able to make an appt & we won't renew at end of this yr I think we'll cancel, They really seem to have gone downhill & there's just no-one to actually help or talk to, to get things done. Very disappointed 😟

A terrible I joined them by an advisowhat a…

I joined them by an advisor and what a mistake I made a wasteful organisation likes to take your money but don’t like to pay back when you need
If you make a claim they want past 5 years of your medical from your GP and when you try to ring them as I did twice and each time I had to wait over an hour for someone to pick up the phone and answer you call and the agent is no good to talk without any help
I want people to know not to waste their money and save the money for private treatment if they wish
My GP surgery is 100 times more efficient than BUPA and it takes me less than 5minutes to get to them
Finally people please don’t waste your money BUPA is shamble and not very professional organisation just like to take your money and hand them to their buddy’s
