They will give you a quote and then once they receive the phone quote you $100-$150 less than the original offer. Offering $230 for my iPhone 15 pro unlocked in good condition is insane. And the original quote was $415 .. absolutely not

They claimed my phone was in worse condition than it was and tried to lowball me on quoted price. I had them ship me the phone back which they did which gives them the 2nd star.

5/29/2026 Update

Now I’m feeling completely cheated. I just received an email claiming my device had “deep scratches,” which is completely false. There was not a single deep scratch on my phone — only normal light wear from regular use. The device was fully functional, had no cracks, and an 82% battery health. I even took photos before shipping it because I was already concerned after reading similar complaints online.

The biggest complaints I saw were lack of communication and companies bait-and-switching quotes after receiving devices, and unfortunately that appears to be exactly what is happening here. You quoted me one amount to get me to choose your company, and now you are attempting to reduce the payout by $140 based on damage that simply did not exist.

The phone was professionally packaged, cleaned before shipping, and carefully prepared before being sent. I have documentation and photos to support my claim.

At this point, I will be adding my experience to the growing number of negative reviews and filing complaints with the BBB and any applicable consumer protection agencies.

I usually use Gadget Pickup because they are honest and the quoted price is the price you actually receive. I regret making the mistake of choosing this company instead.

I have called every phone number and emailed repeatedly for a week with no response. Last email was telling me my phone was received and since nothing. I’m so thankful I took pictures of everything before sending it off. With all these reviews saying they got scammed or don’t receive contact I’m beginning to worry if I need to open a BBB complaint! Selling my old phone was a simple and easy process. They provided the shipping label for me to send in the phone and notified by every step of the process.

While quoting a high purchase price, BuybackBoss did not deliver for me. A screen protector had been used on the device I sent them, so their claim of deep and numerous scratches on the screen was bogus. Apparently, if you complain enough, they will slightly increase their offer, so watch out.

Got a good value with easy shipping and payout.

I have sold several phones to Buyback Boss, and I have purchased several refurbished phones from the company. I have always found the company to be fair and honest. When I have sold them phones, they have evaluated the phones fairly and paid promptly. When I have purchased refurbished phones from the company, they ship promptly, and the phones have always been in good condition

Wow!! What a true scam this company came out to be. Its shocking and disappointing the type of shady business behavior they are committing because based on other customers experiences and MY own experience with this company is EXACTLY the same scenario. Meaning they practice these antics frequently. I will actually reference a customers review from his experience because it’s exactly the same situation that im dealing with now, almost word per word, not joking.

“ I was quoted $401(i was offered 415 because of a promo code for extra $10) for my iPhone 14 Pro Max, that was in almost brand new condition. When they got it they claimed it had "dark spots from the camera lens". I have now seen other reviews with the exact same situation. BEWARE! They are a scam!!!! They wanted to offer me $120( my offer was $118)for it after that. Then I told them I wanted it back. DO NOT USE BUYBACKBOSS EVER!!!!! . DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THE SCAMMERS AT BUYBACK BOSS.”

I purposely took video of the phone right before shipping it out to them specifically after reading all these reviews including videoing every important function of the phone including using the camera to take a picture and video and no issues at all or “black spots” as they claim.

Honestly, I really recommend everyone to go and do business with someone else. Don't waste your time with this company, they aren’t truthful and doing people wrong.

Update 04/29/2026
Just received my phone back in the mail and surprise, surprise the phone has no such “dark spots” nor any other defect as they states. The camera lens are completely fine and takes amazing pictures. Im actually noticing that the phone is actually nicer than i thought haha. I stand by my original review in the company trying to pull a fast one and make up lies to do a lower payout but luckily I read everyone’s reviews and documented everything. Coming to the unfortunate conclusion that this company did try and lie to give me a lower payout which is not ok. I suggest wheover is reading this and thinking of sending in your phone to perhaps look somewhere else because based on my experience, they are not trustworthy. My honest opinion.

Buyback Boss - they are a scam. They quoted me to purchase my iPhone 13 mini back in December and provided me a shipping label which has tracking. They received my phone on January 9th, I have proof of all of this. I have yet to recieve a payment or have my phone shipped back. I'm assuming they either lost it or just try to wait people out until they give up. I have exchanged a couple of emails saying they would research and get back to me and now they have stopped responding to me at all. This is 4 months later and still no payment. Do not use them, they will take your phone.

Having never sold a phone before I had MANY questions. Buybackboss got right back to me (and it was on a weekend!), and made the whole selling process very easy. I will use them again!

I returned 7 phones in good condition. Buyback Boss assessed all of them as fair claiming heavy scratching and supposedly one reported as stolen. They purposely assess the condition as the lowest possible in order to lower your payout. Do not waste your time unless you want to get a fraction of the value from your devices. Go with a different company.

Easy to do business with. Great communication. Great follow up. Good price for phones. Quick responses and follow though. Would definitely do business with again

This is just my personal experience. Yours may differ.

Unfortunately, my second transaction with this company was disappointing. They downgraded my device and reduced the quoted estimate, claiming the camera was damaged. I had fully tested the phone before sending it in and found no issues, so this came as a surprise.

I asked for proof and requested the phone be returned. They did make a counteroffer with a slightly higher price, but it was still only about half of the original estimate. After getting the phone back, I had it inspected by a local repair shop and no problems were found. I then sent the same phone to another buyback company and received payment matching the original estimate that BuybackBoss offered.

Leaving 2 stars because at least the communication was good.

Great service. This is my second time I sell Buyback Boss an iPhone. They made and paid me a competitive offer. I was emailed a prepaid mailing label. Shipping was easy and their evaluation and final offer was quick. I had questions about the payment offer and they quickly responded and paid me via EFT in a prompt manner.
