Horrible Customer Service

One of my flights has been cancelled by the airline, and I got this email from BYOjet with a new flight alternative "The airline did not provide a flight for the cancelled segment so we checked for another flight that we can offer as alternative. This flight however is subject for airline approval. Please reply back to this email with your authority to accept the new scheduled flights or options provided". I replied saying I accept the flight change, but have had no updated itinerary sent to me, and no confirmation if I am booked onto the new flight. I reached out a few days later with no response and was told by an agent that I would get a reply on Monday. It is now Friday. When I go to manage my booking, the online chat isn't working for me, and I have been on hold for 2 hours now trying to call. I have also emailed a further two more times. All I want is confirmation of my new flight.
I am happy to make this a 5 star review if someone can please help me!!!

Outstanding Persistence & Final Resolution by BYOJet Customer Relations

I recently had a complex booking issue with Aunt Betty/BYOJet involving a genuine passport name discrepancy for a Singapore Airlines booking.

The process was initially stressful and communication along the way was at times inconsistent, however I want to specifically acknowledge Brad from Customer Relations for ultimately taking ownership of the matter, continuing to escalate the case with Singapore Airlines, and persisting until a positive outcome was achieved.

After extensive follow-up and review, the original ticket refund waiver was approved by Singapore Airlines, which I greatly appreciate given the circumstances.

Travel issues can be complicated, particularly where airline policy restrictions are involved, but I appreciated the professionalism shown in the later stages of the process and the willingness to continue advocating on my behalf rather than simply closing the case.

Thank you again to Brad and the team for helping get this resolved.

No response from the "urgent" helpline

I have called, filled out the help request form and emailed multiple times but have not heard back regarding changing a booking urgently!!

Unable to do so via their website despite being redirected there at every point. It's extremely frustrating. Also no response despite trying the "urgent" enquiries line.

Now my flight date is quickly approaching and there is no way of making the required changes despite being happy to pay the fees involved.

Would not recommend this service at all if you need any form of assistance with your booking. Used to be so much better service when it was just StudentUniverse.

All I can say positive is that the flights are cheap, however that clearly comes with major drawbacks.

Any follow up from the team would be greatly appreciated.

Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience. A schedule change caused a misconnection between my flights, and the support I received was completely inadequate.

Only one email was sent about the misconnection, and the message included no alternative flight options. When I requested assistance, the reply arrived three weeks later, by which time all prices had doubled.
When I finally received a response, it again included no alternative flights, even though at least two suitable options were available that matched my planned schedule.

The call centre was not reachable from New Zealand during normal work hours, making it impossible to get timely help.

And as a final bonus, I was charged a cancellation fee despite having paid for CancelProtect at the time of booking.

I had to cancel my flight due to a…

I had to cancel my flight due to a serious medical emergency, and I specifically paid extra for fully refundable tickets. after I submit all the documents that they required, a refund confirmation letter was issued back in January 2026, yet to this day I have still not received my refund.

I have followed up multiple times over the past few months and received absolutely no response. This level of customer service is completely unacceptable.

To make matters worse, I have now been waiting on hold for over an hour with no one answering the phone. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered.

I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this company to anyone.

Refund still not processed after nearly 2 months and 20+ contacts

One of my flight segments was cancelled due to bad weather, and the airline has confirmed in writing that the unused portion of my ticket is eligible for a refund.

Despite this, it has now been nearly 2 months with no refund processed.

I have contacted BYOjet more than 20 times via phone and email. On multiple occasions, I spent over two hours on hold just to speak with an agent. Each time, I was given different and inconsistent explanations for the delay. At one point, I was even told that no refund request existed, despite having made several requests previously.

This level of delay and lack of clear, accurate communication is extremely disappointing, especially given that the airline has already confirmed refund eligibility.

Due to the lack of progress, I have now had to escalate the matter to NSW Fair Trading and my bank.

Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others before booking through this agency, particularly if you need support during disruptions or cancellations.

I got my flight canceled and I wanted to have conversation either to reschedule or refund but no reply to my email and I waited on queue for 1 hour for my calls to get responded but no reply, I don’t, i am not able to make any live chat. Never has this much bad customer service. Very bad experience till might change my mind with overall result

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS…

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS GODFORSAKEN COPPANY FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR WALLET. I got robbed by BYOjet. I wanted to make a change to my booking immediately after booking my flights but it's set up to F*** you over. You can't change the booking online and when I sent an email to ask to change my booking they didn't get back to me. I had to call the next day and they told me it would cost more than the cost of booking a new flight to change the booking. They refused to waive the post 24h fee despite not having gotten back to me when I reached out within the first 24h. An absolute scam.

Title: WARNING: BYOJet's cancellation window can be (arbitrarily!) as short as 2 minutes

I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner and consumer advocate. I'm writing this review not only for myself but for every traveler currently navigating a world disrupted by conflict, rising fuel costs, and flight instability. At a time when compassion and human decency matter most, BYOJet chose profit over people — and I want you to know about it.

I booked two flights through BYOJet on April 24, 2026 and discovered a date error. I called within 21 hours and 47 minutes — following BYOJet's own published instructions to phone immediately. They verbally confirmed cancellation but refused any refund, citing a "same calendar day in Barcelona time" policy that appears nowhere in their written terms and conditions.

Here is what this internal, not verified, policy actually means: If you book at 11:58pm Barcelona time, you have 2 minutes to cancel. That is not a cancellation policy. It is a TRAP.

Their alternative offer: change the date for $2,400 on a $1,213.40 bill for two tickets.

I have filed complaints with the US Department of Transportation (OACP Case #2026041426484), FTC, CFPB, Colorado Attorney General, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and econsumer.gov. My Visa chargeback is active.

Major US travel agencies including Expedia honor a 24-hour cancellation window even on non-refundable tickets. BYOJet chooses not to. This is a deliberate business decision that traps consumers worldwide.

I am not alone. I have read so many 1-star reviews. The pattern is identical: smooth booking, then a wall of scripted denials when anything goes wrong. One reviewer submitted a hospital medical certificate and waited months for a $732 refund. Another was charged $250 to cancel flights that had never even been booked with the airline. Another watched BYOJet hold their refund for months after the airline had already issued it.

Book directly with airlines. Use BYOJet only to search. Never, EVER give them your credit card.

I recently needed flights to Sri Lanka…

I recently needed flights to Sri Lanka for July and first contacted a local travel agent for direct flights, but the prices were quite high. I then checked a few flight comparison sites like Skyscanner and found slightly better prices, but when I tried booking through one of those sites, the booking was rejected because the fares had changed and ended up being even more expensive.

I then tried Kayak, which showed me a lower fare through BYOjet. I decided to give it a go, and the whole process worked smoothly. The final booking ended up being around $600 cheaper than what the travel agent quoted me, which was a big win.

Yes, the ticket was non-refundable, but that’s something I was comfortable with because that’s what travel insurance is for. From my experience, no complaints at all—good price, smooth booking, and significant savings. Would definitely use BYOjet again.

PNR/Ticket booking

Booked a ticket, money deducted from account and haven't received any PNR/ticket yet. No reply from customer service.
Usual process is that after booking you receive all the details within less than hours even if it's 3rd party/agents.
