Terrible service, woeful customer service and complicated policies..... would not recommend.
We hired a van for a period of 4 days, on day 1 we were involved in an RTI; which was not our fault. Despite this fact, we were charged an excess - even though the third party admitted liability and had a dash cam!
What Camptoo don’t tell you is that they outsource all insurance to Alan Boswell. This is in turn, further outsourced to Markerstudy; where essentially regardless of the circumstances of the incident the renter will lose their £1000 excess if the owner decides to claim using the “renters insurance” rather than that of the third party.

Trying to claim back an excess for an incident of which you had zero liability seems complicated and time sapping. This must be a common thing for Camptoo - yet they, and Alan Boswell seem completely uninterested in helping!
Each company try to push responsibility to the other, and 2 months later we are still looking for direction and guidance to recover the costs we have suffered.
I genuinely think you’re better off renting privately rather than relying on Camptoo to provide any oversight!!

I rented out my can with camptoofor much of the 2021 season. It has gone well, renters have all been well briefed by camp too before, arrival, well mannered on arrival and respectful of the van always returning it pretty clean and I've had no significant problems at all. Pleased therefore to leave a wholly positive 5 star review.

The first time we have hired a Motorhome, we hired the Motorhome through Camptoo which went very smoothly.
A deposit was returned immediately after we returned the Motorhome after inspection for damage.
Very impressed with the service received and wouldn't hesitate to use it again in the future.
The Motorhome was as described and more! it was luxurious and well-appointed and you would comfortably travel the world in it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and found it very relaxing with no rush to worry about.

Great little camper . It gave us an insight into the life of being on the road and answered some questions on the ideal size of a camper we would need. The people we hired it from communicated with us on all the relevant aspects we needed to know. They were very obliging.

It was a pretty easy process to rent and the owner of our van Nigel was excellent, in fact he saved the day.
We discovered quite by chance (two days before we left) that to take the van to France we didn't need a green card but now needed another form which was really important if we were stopped by police.
Camptoo were useless and rather than say let's see what we can do to help, suggested we should have seen this info in a blog. As we have said, we weren't becoming "Followers" we were just renting a vehicle.
We were given the number for the insurers who had to call us back the next day. They told us we needed the form and to try RAC. Holy Moly!! they were asking for information we just didn't have.
When you're knee deep in work and not at home this became very stressful. We were calling everywhere including the owner.
Literally a few hours before we met, Nigel (owner) also realised and had to very swiftly sort it for us.
It was a horrible start to the holiday and we feel Camptoo should have had this information to give us as standard, it's pretty important.
We really thought we wouldn't be able to go.
The van was brilliant and we would definitely rent again but I must say this is purely because of Nigel the owner, the attention to detail and his lovely VW Betsy.

I’ve used Airbnb for years but didn’t realise there was an equivalent for camper vans. As a ‘first time’ van-user I found Camptoo invaluable in brokering the perfect van for the trip we had in mind. They were efficient and effective and I’ll definitely use them again - unless, bitten by the bug, we get a van of our own!

Very good website. Easy to use. Found what I was looking for. Booked up without any problems. Had great weekend away. All within a week start to finish. I recommend Camptoo. Keep up good work for campers 👍

So for a novice camper and finding where to hire one online, Camptoo ultimate bliss from start to finish. So many vehicles to choose from, all well illustrated so we could decide which one to have.
