CanaDream RV - Halifax Reviews 

We received an old camper with lots of small defects, which we had to repair ourselves during the trip in order not to loose too much time. The space in the camper was fine for two people and the staff in Halifax was punctual, but helpfull. The staff in Toronto very friendly.
It would help if Canadream would invest in more up to date campers.

We got a pretty new camper, that was fully equipped and worked perfectly.
The service was very friendly and helpful and I felt professionally accompanied and adviced.
There's only one thing I might critisize:
The required online check-in did not work properly in the beginning, because the system didn't recognise my sign-in data; and the online check-in really takes some time and should focus on less topics (for instands: to me it seems obvious to respect traffic rules).
I'd recomand Canadream and would (and certainly will) travel with Canadream again anytime.

The main reason is the equipment, and the women whom we dealt with in Halifax. She handled a difficult , and challenging situation, as multiple people were waiting for their rig.

Customer service was very poor! From charging to pick-up the RV, making us wait to get the RV even though it was ready while we waited in the tiny waiting room very tired after a long flight. The MINIMAL rented supplies of 1 knife, fork, spoon, plate, cup, etc. per person was tight fisted meaning we had to clean items constantly. The bed was light weight so had to buy additional blankets from the store and the pillow was TINY. I have throw pillows on my couch that are bigger. The rented chair was broken as well. All the items left from previous renters was picked over by staff, even saw them discussing and diving up who would take what from a returned RV when a door was left open (the butcher meat was hotly contested). Other places leave the items out for new renters to take on their trip. Then the final kick in the teeth charging us A LOT of money to return the RV!!! Never in all my life have I been charged to return something i have borrowed/rented. A small charge if wanting a late return etc. is acceptable but $200-400 to return the RV at 9am!? C'mon!! Have Happily told many people on our trip about the experience and since returning home. Most people note they will avoid using Canadream.

Before returning the RV, make sure to report every single scratch or minor damage to your insurance company.

If you don’t report it yourself within 24 hours, they may withhold your $5,000 security deposit and refuse to return it.

I have already been fighting this issue with Canadream for the past two months.

They are refusing to return my $5,000 security deposit, claiming that because I did not independently report all 25 scratches to my insurance company within 24 hours, they are entitled to charge me approximately $6,000 for replacement parts and labour.

I acknowledge that I signed the agreement without fully understanding all of its terms, and I take responsibility for not reviewing the contract and its requirements carefully enough before signing. I regret my lack of diligence in that respect.

However, there is one question I simply cannot accept: How was I supposed to know that these relatively minor exterior scratches would ultimately result in a $6,000 repair bill?

If I had known in advance that minor scratches on the exterior of an RV could result in thousands of dollars in replacement parts and labour charges, I would never have rented an RV in the first place.

After this experience, I am genuinely afraid to rent a motorhome again. The possibility that ordinary, minor exterior damage could lead to a $6,000 claim and the loss of a $5,000 security deposit has completely changed my perception of RV rentals.

I understand that I have responsibilities as a renter, and I am willing to accept reasonable and properly documented costs for damage that I am responsible for. However, I believe there must be a fair, transparent, and proportionate way to assess the actual damage and the reasonable cost of repairing it.

Two months later, I am still fighting to understand why 25 relatively minor scratches have resulted in such an extraordinary repair claim and the withholding of my entire $5,000 deposit.

Great experience from pick up to drop off, nice staff and no problems at all

We can recommend CanaDream Halifax for everyone who loves adventures, with nothing to worry about.

Nice and friendly people at the desks. Great camper. Kitchen kit a bit minimal for 2 people.

We are very satisfied with Canadream's service. Picking up and returning the RV was straightforward, efficient, and very professional. There was nothing to complain about regarding the RV itself. We would be happy to book with Canadream again in the future.

CanaDream provided us a package on a class C RV rental that was in a good price bracket. The Halifax site gave us quick and efficient service both getting ready to rent and upon return. The staff were knowledgeable and polite. The RV was clean, as promised, had the appropriate extras we had requested and worked as expected.

Renting RV from Canadream was an easy process. All the options and charges were explained beforehand. There were no surprises. The RV we rented was in great condition. Everything worked well expect for missing TV remotes. Had those been provided the RV experience would have been spotless

Service was excellent

We had an amazing experience with CanaDream for our round trip through the Maritimes, picking up and returning the motorhome in Halifax. This was already my third experience with CanaDream, and once again, I would definitely recommend them.

Our only real issue at pick-up was that we had to wait around two hours because the previous customers had apparently left the motorhome in a very poor condition. The wait was frustrating, especially as we were only able to leave around 5:30 pm, but CanaDream did offer us a two-hour compensation without additional cost. We had to discuss it a little, as there were quite a few details to sort out, but in the end they agreed to it, which we really appreciated. Being able to return the motorhome at 10:30 am instead of 8:30 am made a big difference for us.

The MHX was a great model for four adults. The slide-out was a huge bonus and gave us so much extra living space. The storage was also excellent, both inside and in the large exterior compartment, which was perfect for our suitcases and camping equipment.

The beds were very comfortable, and overall everything worked very well during our trip. We never needed to contact roadside assistance, which was great. The vehicle was also very pleasant to drive. The rear camera was mostly useful when leaving the campsite, but we found the motorhome easy and enjoyable to drive overall. Of course, when it was windy, you definitely had to pay attention and keep a firm grip on the steering wheel!

There are a few things that could be improved. The kitchen kit was a little too basic for four adults: we had exactly four forks, four knives, four spoons, four glasses, etc. Having six of each would make a big difference and would mean less constant dishwashing.

We also had an issue with the sliding door separating the rear queen bed area. We couldn't lock it properly, so it would rattle and occasionally slam while driving. It seemed like a small part may have been broken. It wasn't a major issue, but it was definitely annoying on longer drives.

The speakers were another small downside. The driver and front passenger could hear the music well, but the passengers in the back couldn't really enjoy it. A few additional speakers in the rear would make the experience better for everyone.

For the rear passengers, we also found the seat belts and seating position a little basic. Sitting on the dinette seats, especially when they are being used as a bed, doesn't provide much support for the head and neck compared with the driver and front passenger seats. On long journeys, this could become uncomfortable, especially since there isn't really an option to rotate between proper passenger seats in the back.

Finally, although we were told the motorhome had received a deep clean after the previous rental, we did still find a few small bits of debris under the bed. We understand that they were probably trying to get the vehicle ready as quickly as possible to minimise our delay, so this was only a minor point.

Overall, though, we had a fantastic trip and were very happy with the MHX. It is a really good motorhome for four adults, with plenty of space, storage and comfort for a longer road trip. Despite the delayed pick-up, which was clearly not intentional on CanaDream's part, everything went very smoothly once we were on the road.

A big thank you to the CanaDream team for the experience and for being flexible with the return time. We had a wonderful trip through the Maritimes and would happily rent from you again!

Extremely efficient and friendly process at check-in and drop-off.

The booking process of the UK was really easy. Lots of useful inforamtion on the website and the how to guides an videos before we arrived explained it all clearly.
We arrived very early and were made to feel welcome and grab ourselves a coffee.
Our RV & check in process started at 1pm, the exact time of our booking. Everything was explained very clearly and we had prebooked the step by step tour, which was done by one of the Canadreams rep was brilliant. Even though it ws pouring with rain, they let us an umbrella which came in useful for the rest of our trip.
The retrun process was just as easy, return the RV to the lot and wait for it to be checked by a memebr of the team to confirm everything was ok. We were only slightly over on our milage!
My receommendation to anyone hiring it to take the 'drop & go'. This meant we had no faffing about on the monign we returned the RV with having to empty black/grey water & rubbish.
Any unopened food was dontaed to the food back and we left some bits of the offive team including the milk and tea bags. They couldnt do enough to to help.

Everything was perfekt organized. From the Pick up of the Camper to the drop off was great. Also the staff was very helpful and friendly. Excellent.

The camper and experience itself was great. The check-in experience was horrible:
- it took 4 hours despite the pre check-in
- they kept saying they were short staffed but we saw people sitting around doing what appeared to be nothing
- there was no sense of urgency
- they forgot to leave us our camper manual and paperwork for the campe
I called to complain and got zero response back. I will likely choose another company for your next trip.

Update to post reply: So your response to me not hearing back from guest services is to reach out to guest services again!?!
