I purchased this to walk my 3 year old rescue German Shepherd as while petite and fine with dogs and people, she is quick to spot and lunge at squirrels and other wildlife. I was careful to read online reviews which indicated the collar could help with my situation, e.g, a a review mentioned preventing lunging at cats. She certainly is happier wearing this collar compared to a Halti as it is much less restrictive around her face but it has not helped in any way with her pulling when seeing something she wants to chase. The final straw was her being able to pull away from me to chase a squirrel while wearing it, despite my trying my utmost to hold onto her, resulting in a nasty fall and a broken arm and tendon damage for me, which 6 weeks on I am still recovering from. I will be returning to using a Halti as I don’t find the collar adequate enough for a dog determined to pull after a trigger. I’m disappointed as I really thought it would help.

What a difference the canny collar makes for walking. I've got a 9 month old central asian shepherd puppy who is 51kg at the moment and was pulling me like a train. An hours walk was like a 10 hour tug of war. Then I came across the canny collar. Bought the colossus size as he has the potential of weighing 120kg, so a massive dog. Within 3 days of wearing the canny collar, he was a changed dog. Walking with me and not pulling at all. The canny collar is exep well made and very well priced. It is worth every penny. I would highly recommend the canny collar for any dog that pulls. It's such a pleasure to go out for walks with him now. Thank you for such a good collar.

Lola, my rescue dog, has been with me for a few years now. She’s a Labrador-Springer Spaniel mix, and she’s incredibly energetic. Before I adopted her, she spent the first two years of her life chained up in a garden, which left her in desperate need of both physical exercise and mental enrichment. Over the years, I’ve tried countless aids to help make our walks easier, but none of them worked quite right. At 24kg and with a lot of energy, she’s strong and a little reactive to other dogs, making walks challenging. I've struggled with back and shoulder pain, especially when she pulls, and I’ve often found myself walking at odd hours just to avoid other dog walkers and the stress of managing her.

Due to her pulling, especially on rougher terrain, I’ve had to leave her behind for hikes with my partner, which has been a source of guilt for me since I always envisioned taking her on epic adventures when I rescued her.

I’ve tried everything – the Halti harness, which rubbed her raw behind her front legs; the face Halti, which worked better but caused her to drag her face in the grass, leaving her muzzle sore; two regular harnesses, which either caused her to refuse to walk entirely or let her pull freely; and even a martingale collar, which I couldn’t stand because I hated hearing her choke. In the end, I resorted to walking her with a training lead tied around my waist, but that was still uncomfortable due to her constant pulling. Walks started to feel more like a workout than an enjoyable outing for either of us.

Then, one day while shopping, I saw someone walking their dog with a Canny Collar. It looked like a Halti but different, and when I asked, the owner explained how much their dog hated regular halti-style harnesses but took to the Canny Collar easily. They even let me walk their dog for a bit, and it was effortless. Still, I was hesitant to invest in something new, especially after previous disappointments. I added it to a wishlist and thought no more of it.

Recently, after a nasty fall while trail running, I ended up with whiplash, and I found it impossible to walk Lola without immense pain. My partner can’t handle her, and I couldn't risk further injury, so Lola ended up not getting the exercise she needs. I resorted to using the Halti again, but the guilt of seeing her muzzle red and sore was unbearable. That’s when I remembered the Canny Collar. I found one on an online marketplace, nearly new and at a good price, and decided to give it a try.

I can’t express enough how much of a difference it’s made. While Lola is still getting used to it, she’s already walking so much better – calmly beside me, with far less pulling, and without rubbing her face into the ground like she did with the Halti. It’s been so much easier for me to maneuver her around other dogs, and I’m no longer in pain after walks. The collar is simple to put on, and even if I had paid full price, it would have been worth every penny.

This product has completely changed our daily walks. What once was a stressful, anxiety-inducing experience for both of us is now something I look forward to. I can’t wait for Lola to become more accustomed to the collar, and then I’ll finally be able to take her back to the hills and mountains, as I always hoped to do.

I did find it a little awkward to set up especially as my dog is a lively excitable terrier. Introducing it to him a little at a time day by day, he does get stressed.

We bought our dog this canny collar as advised by our dog trainer,our reactive dog has been a very strong puller ,with this he has changed so much it's unbelievable no more hard pulling on the lead ,very grateful,thanks .

Excellent lead

I watched the video but needed someone who had the colar to show me how to use it. I put it on but puppy can get the nose band off. So haven't used it. It is good quality but just not for my very lively clever puppy
