Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 31 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful, with agents who lack knowledge and sometimes speak poor English. Customers also frequently report issues with payments, including unexpected interest charges, delayed application of payments, and difficulties with transfers. The pricing structure, including annual fees and high interest rates without rewards, was a major point of contention. Some people also felt that the company's service was outdated, particularly regarding the lack of mobile payment options. A few other people also felt that their accounts were closed due to inactivity, even when they intended to pay off their balance. WOW how to waste an evening and have to do again in 2 days

This was a total waste of time and energy. Made a mistake and had not removed the card from payments on one bank account as we were not using that credit card and I accidently made a payment that was to pay off different account. Not only did the company accept the payment but trying to get them to refund the money. Have talked to 4 people in the Phillipines who have each verified card holder and one person texted cell number for verification . But the next person could not text to verify because the new cell number and wants us to wait 2 days to update the system and call back again. Now I have to go through the painful process again.

It is stupid that they have limited…

It is stupid that they have limited business hours; when the payment is denied due to security purposes, I got a code to verify and fill in the security code. Again, it is still denied. I called them, but they were unable to help until the next day because they were closed at this time. I don't recommend this credit card, NOT 24/7 services.

Capital One choose to pay scammers vs…

Capital One choose to pays scammers vs protecting their clients
On October 25th 2022 I was a victim of a fraudulent phishing website impersonating ASICS Canada. I contacted ASICS Canada, they confirmed the fraud, I reported immediately the fraud to Capital One customer service asking for card cancellation and sent the proof of the scam by mail to Capital One. Despite all my efforts, some people from Capital One, 1-855-800-2815, decided to harass me on the phone, saying that this is a purchase and not a fraud, and charged the fraud amount again on my statement.
As I expected, I have not received from the scammers any merchandise or communication in the last 3months.
The Capital One decision to consider this transaction valid and not a fraud goes against the principle of secure online shopping and undermines the safety and consumer trust in online banking. The fraud was committed without my knowledge, and I reported it immediately I was aware of it.
This is totally unacceptable, to leave the clients who pay fees for the financial services of Capital One to be victims of reported scammers. I don't think I'll continue to use the bad services provided by Capital One.

Amazing Capital One Mastercard.

I applied for a Capital One Mastercard.
I got approved with $300 limit No security deposit. This was credit rebuilding for me. Six months later some jerk patient stole my purse out of my desk, that also contained my vehicle keys. Customer Service was absolutely awesome helping me track the places it was used and cancelling all the charges that were not mine. Issued me a new card promptly.
It has now been two years and I got an email to up to Up my limit “You have earned it” I chose to phone in an accept. (Don’t want the app, too many things in terms and conditions that are out of Capital One’s hands.) Quick, easy and secure by phone. How great it felt to read those words “You earned It”.
Later in years I may apply for a Visa. That said I will never give up this credit card up. They believed in me when others would not.
Customer Service is Superb.
Make your payments on time (even if only the minimum) pay it off on your payday and you will see your credit score go up each month.
First six months is crucial to making payments on time, it’s in the agreement and there will be No problems whatsoever.
Love this Credit Card Company.

Absolutely worst credit card company to deal with ever you give them a deposit you close the account they run around and don’t return your money for 3 to 4 months do not sign up with us credit card. I have signed up with two other companies. This company is horrible. Their stuff will tell you whatever nonsense they can to not have to pay you back the money they owe you for your deposit. Horrible company.

Stole my $800 cash back!!!

I had been a customer with Capital One for over 7 years. I had a cash back rewards card. I updated my address with them when I moved, then they locked my account so I called in and they said I needed to update my address so I did that over the phone with them. Then 2 months later my account was locked again so I called in and they said I needed to update my address. I refused to update it again since I had just done so twice in the last few months and told them it was unreasonable to need to update my address 3 times in less than 6 months. So they left my account frozen. I had not missed a full payment in over 4+ years and paid off my balance again even though my account was frozen. I hoped that bank would be interested in keeping me as a customer and would call to resolve the issue but no luck. Fast forward 6ish months I thought I'd call to get them to issue my cash back payment. When I called they said they had closed my account 2 months ago and that I had "forfeited" my cashback payment of $782. After much arguing they said it was bank policy to steal my accumulated cashback when they closed the account. So not only did they not want me as a customer they also stole nearly $800 from me. I will never deal with capital one again.

Do NOT subscribe to Capital One Cards-

This is the most disorganized financial credit company i have ever encountered. customer complaints are handled by customer service people in every other country except Canada. paid off the account, destroyed the card and they still wanted $8.49 interest
They don't build credit- they destroy it!

I have been struggling paying my card…

I have been struggling paying my card off. I finally paid it off the day before the due day this month. And guess what!!! I got charge interest this month. Called customer service, she said because I didn’t make the whole amount minimum payment for June. Then why didn’t they charge me whatever necessary in July. Now is November after I pay off my card, then they charge me. And I’m sure this is not from June because it’s cash advance plus puchase interest which is not from miss minimum payment. She wants me to make a complaint. But for $40, it’s the principle I am mad at but not worth my time to go through the process of complaining. I prefer cancel the card. Credit card companies should know and I know they know that their profit income is coming from people like me who still want to pay off the card making minimum payment at least til capable, not from people who always able to pay their cards off or people who default.

Payed my security funds for a secured mastercard on Sept,30th,2022 and nearly a month later still haven't received my card! And dont bother calling Capital One Customer service. You will be connected with a representative in India that will speak english with such a heavy dialect that you will not understand a word they saying. Once I finally receive my card, I'm withdrawing the funds I placed on it and tossing the card in the trash where it belongs.

Don’t ever try to change your address…

Don’t ever try to change your address with this company. I have been with them for years, never missed a payment, excellent credit. Changed my address to new address and both cards have now been restricted. Sent in photo ID, and they said it would take five days max to review. After two weeks, called in and they activated my cards… went to use my card: declined, called them back. Reactivated! 1 hour later got a call back from their security office (sounded like an ex cop who hasn’t lost the attitude yet) and got grilled in the tone of an interrogator! Eventually I told him just to cancel my account and send me a check for the many points I’d collected! “We can’t do that until you prove your new address)! The biggest frustration with this company is that in every email, they say that Customer satisfaction is priority for them! No, no it’s not. You become just another slave of Capital Zero when you do business with them!

Tried to get the 2 step verification…

Tried to get the 2 step verification code turned off as it's only me that uses my phone and I use my fingerprint to access the account, only to be told that's not an option. Then was told it only comes up of there is something different like location, device, etc. Explained all this was the same and capital one customer service would not acknowledge that there may be a problem with this new system. People should have the option on their own accounts if they want the 2 step or not. Instead capital one has decided to treat everyone like they're children and make the decision for them regardless of the person's wishes

I find that with banks like this

I find that with banks like this, you really don't know how good they are until you have to contact customer support for whatever reason. In an ideal would, I never would have to call customer support for an issue. I'd like to be able to do all my banking with no hassles and never having to contact support. Unfortunately, stuff happens, and I had to contact support... Honestly, I think they have the worst support I've ever seen. Even buying things oversees and having a huge language barrier is better than this. First of all, good luck finding their hours. The hours seem to be listed as something different everywhere. Second, if there's something wrong with your card, customer support will ALWAYS tell you they're CLOSED. Try calling at 1pm on a weekday... closed. Always. So basically, I had to go to their website to try and contact someone via their chat. They told me to just call them. Why bother having an online chat if you're just told to call? So anyways they gave me a number which ended up being for their fraud department. Fraud department told me to call their other number which is always closed for me, so I asked them to just transfer me instead. They did, I explained my issue, and now they told me "someone will call you back sometime next week during business hours." What I'll never understand is how people are supposed to talk to support when they're only open when everyone is at work anyways. I work in a warehouse and I'm not allowed my phone on the floor... Do you expect me to take the entire week off? The funny part is I'm trying to pay my entire balance. I've never had so much trouble trying to get someone to take my money!

I would give zero stars but my would…

I would give zero stars but my review would unlikely be seen. After some two decades of using capital one I have seen fit to fire them
1,some years ago I asked to up grade my card to some kind of rewards based card. I was refused….. not pleased
2, a few weeks ago It came to my attention that capital one is charging interest bi monthly. Not pleased. Resulting in a 6c charge after paying my card off on the same day I got the bill. Again not pleased
3, I terminated our relationship.
A, any automated payments would be honoured even if the card was cancelled and I could not physically use the card. Not pleased. And left wondering how the hell that works. After all that am the obligated to make monthly payments for streaming services donations etc
B, up to me to remove balance protection as that is through”a third party”.. You can guess how I found out about that. A charge with ZERO balance to protect
It seems like capital one is a lot like a bad case of the clap…..it just keeps coming back to haunt you/cause pain
