Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 31 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful, with agents who lack knowledge and sometimes speak poor English. Customers also frequently report issues with payments, including unexpected interest charges, delayed application of payments, and difficulties with transfers. The pricing structure, including annual fees and high interest rates without rewards, was a major point of contention. Some people also felt that the company's service was outdated, particularly regarding the lack of mobile payment options. A few other people also felt that their accounts were closed due to inactivity, even when they intended to pay off their balance. Passive aggressive service!

I have tried over and over since 26 May to set up my online banking. On my Mac I gets blank page with the logo and the language, and on the bottom of the page I get the services. My App refuses to let me in telling me after verifying me that I have a login issue.

I have phone at least a dozen times. The only answer I get it… all you need to do is enter your user name and password.

The only way I can access my account is via browser or app Forgot password? Then I go trigger the whole rigamarole of creating a new Username and password then entering my CVV then a code and voila, enfin! I access my account!
Today I phone Customer Service and was told I’m doing it wrong. She just wouldn’t listen to what I was doing! She asked me to try it her way and I got nothing but an error message. She still insisted that I was wrong!
I had an online account with my secured card and it was seamless! This is just frustration and yet everything is as it should be on the account when I fiddle for five minutes to get in!
Over the past couple of weeks since I’ve tried to resolve this problem I’ve had nothing but passive agression from the CSR’s. Ive been polite, gentlemanly and respectful, they have treated me like a naughty child! Bad service! Pushy tiger moms for CSR’s who can’t say anything that isn’t in their script! Humbug. Luckily the card is good but the bank system stinks!

Part 2!!

Well egg on face! After a couple of weeks of frorratikn I found out by going to Safari that I had web blockers engaged! Turned it off and hey presto! Seamless service. Why can’t they tell us that?? Oh well turn off you blockers!!

Rejected by Capitol One

I applied for an Aspire card with Cap 1 after a number of years of having a Gold unsecured Master Card. Originally I contacted customer service to inquire whether my current card could be upgraded without success. I reluctantly applied for the second card and was immediately turned down. I received a form letter about 2 weeks later informing me that their decision was based in part due to negative information obtained from the credit bureau. My credit rating was 809 at the time and there were no issues. After being rejected for the Aspire card, I applied at a major Canadian bank for a no fee card paying cash dividends. I was immediately approved with a large credit limit.

STAY AWAY!!

STAY AWAY!!! This credit card company has absolutely gone to trash. If you want a company that promotes FALSE ADVERTING, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, ZERO CONFLICT RESOLUTION, WASTING HOURS OF YOUR TIME, TONS OF ISSUES, CANT USE POINTS EARNED, FEELING RIPPED OFF then go ahead but I’d recommend staying far away. I am extremely patient and my husband and I both have had our Capital One Aspire for over 10 years, but the amount of issues noted above in just the past 1-2 months when we wanted to both transfer and use our points for travel as advertised we’ve had nothing but issues and ZERO resolution on multiple issues!!! They won’t let us transfer our points any more and we couldn’t even use our points for the airport taxi transfer we booked, even though it specifically states on their website for taxis and the transaction says taxi?! Can you believe this BS?!? Even when I’ve been crying on so many calls totally at my wit’s end with them all the time and energy wasted, they totally don’t care and do nothing to resolve anything, our family is totally done with this credit card company what a huge disappointment and waste of our precious time, money, and energy.

I wish I could give them half a star

I wish I could give them half a star. This is the most disorganized, disjointed and useless "credit card" company. Not only will they charge you ridiculous fees but in the event you need to report fraud, they'll side with the scammer. STAY AWAY!

I have been with this company for years…

I have been with this company for years and they just canceled my account. Their reason was they sent 1 letter~no other correspondence admitted by them well talking with a manager~that 1 letter was needing updated information. I updated my information very recently (within 2022) as I moved. They are closing my account after well over 10 years as a client and as they put it~there is nothing they can do. My money shall go elsewhere

I’ve been a user of this card since it…

I’ve been a user of this card since it was introduced many years ago. At that time it was the best card on the market. Unfortunately this is no longer true. All the benefits have slowly been reduced or removed. The 2-1 earring ration has been cut back to 1.5-1, the yearly anniversary point bonus has been discontinued and for whatever reason, their cash advance limit falls short of other cards. Having recently travelled to Mexico, I was forced to use another card to withdraw some pesos. According to Capital One staff, although polite, there is no fix. This card has slowly went from being #1 to no longer even being on a top ten list.

My card has been declined/frozen…

My card has been declined/frozen multiple times because apparently, even though my husband and I are both account holders, he is primary (we put his name first on the card first- didn't think it mattered), and he needs to "approve" my purchases. We both called customer service because this is ridiculous, but she said there is nothing she can do. I never know when/if my card is going to be declined. When I'm out shopping, I need to call him when I'm at the store and ask him to go to his emails and approve the transaction- that's insane!
Just started happening in the last year or so. When my Costco membership renews, we going to ask for a regular membership card and get rid of this ridiculous M/C!!
Also, BEWARE, when we called today to unfreeze my card, the lady started asking us to list our other credit cards and tell her what institution they were held at...that is absolutely none of their business!!! My husband was furious and told her we weren't going to answer that question- what the heck!!!

Capital One Canada has thee worst

Capital One Canada has thee worst customer service. As well as customer relations.
Ive had a Capital One card now for 3 year’s and not once have i been offered and credit increase. Not only that they decline if i ask for a credit increase from $300 credit limit. Even at zero balance.
I have 2 Canadian Tire Triangle cards the silver card and the world elite.
And had both of them a year and Canadian Tire Bank has offered me increases on both.
Combined credit of 10000 and they both have zero balance. So yes and i have a credit score of 700 thru Transunion which is the agency Capital One Canada uses for credit checks.
Also when i speak to agent at Capital One Canada the only answers i get it i dont know why it cant be done. Or they say im sorry sir hang up everytime.
Or they get mad and hang up on me.
Im trying so hard to find a true reason why I continue to keep this bad relations between Capital One.

I asked about cancelling my account

I asked about cancelling my account. Approximately 4 years ago I opened the account and paid a 75.00 security deposit and received a 300.00 limit. I have paid an addition 700.00 in security funds. Now I am told that in order to receive my security funds back I have to pay the entire balance of 950.00 This sounds like double dipping to me. As far as I am concerned. I actually only owe 225.00 which is difference between my initial deposit and limit I received. It appears they are getting my funds twice. Very poor explanation. The girl on the phone said I actually only owed them 195.00 my limit with my payments made extra is 999.00 So I would except a cheque for the difference if I close the account. Very confused.

Crapital One Customer Service

I applied June 22, 2021 for a Capital One card and was told I was approved online.

A verification package was sent and received some time after. I did not note the date.

I went to Canada Post a few days later and they verified my identification and sent the verification back.

I checked the Canada Post tracking number a couple weeks later and it showed that they had received my verification. Again I did not note the date.

I waited and waited and I never received my card. I called several weeks later and was told they never my received my verification, despite the fact Canada Post tracking confirmed delivery. The Agent sent a new verification package.

Nov 12, 2021 I went to Canada Post and they verified my identification and sent the verification back.

Nov 17, 2021 The second verification was received by Capital One according to Canada Post tracking.

Jan 5, 2022 I spent 33 min on hold, had to tell the agent my phone number and story 3 times. She tried twice to send me to a supervisor and was “not given permission to connect my call.”

Finally a Supervisor answered. He advised me my account was closed Dec 17, 2021 as they stated the second verification was not received and was told to reapply.

Awesome customer service - NOT.

Very disappointed in this company…

Very disappointed that this company awarded a dispute charge back to the company who defrauded me. The merchant/company submitted a 5 page document with evidence, while I submitted a 40 PAGE document with all our emails and evidence. Despite my thorough evidence that was submitted (and months of waiting to hear back from Capital One), they still awarded the case to the merchant, despite all of my evidence containing months of emails of me requesting follow ups for services that were never provided to me.

Dealing with Fraud department over Dispute

Dealing with Fraud department over Super8 Courtney BC after many phone calls to Capital One they were to email me the reply from Super8. After a few weeks, I call to advise that I was still waiting for email. The Representative asked after providing briefing (again) asked if I was the primary cardholder; Neither I nor my wife was aware who was. Stated they do not email info. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she refused my request, Called back and was granted permission to consult with a supervisor but after 55-minute wait, the phone call was terminated from Capital One

Enemy of people

THREE WORDS: ENEMY OF PEOPLE. I really wonder how no public organization and no politician has been involved to look into the huge problems such a small and low-key credit company is creating for people and causing problems much larger than what they themselves know are creating. This is a financial catastrophe. What sounds strange is that they definitely know the problems they are causing, but no one knows how they would benefit from it. I strated with three words and finish with three words: DON'T TRUST THEM.

If I could give them negative stars I…

If I could give them negative stars I would. Signed up for the card at Costco and only used it once. They didn’t send me any statement balances after I paid my account in full when I received my cards with first statement. Put the wrong amount by 2 dollars and now have 4 missed payments over it. My mistake I know but an unfortunate honest one. “We could only help you if it was our fault!” Only there for themselves just to make a buck. Don’t know how they sleep at night! Go with a reputable company that actually cares about their customers not this low life group!
