rina (Capture One) Feb 6, 2023, 08:36 GMT+1 Hi there, You have upgraded your Capture One key to the latest version (You have not purchased an additional key). Which means your old Capture One key h
Looks like I can only have capture one on one computer. Lucky for me I have Lightroom on both computers.
Lane Ps I have at least 100,000 people see my photographs every year and a small percent of those want to know what equipment and software I use. I guess I will say photoshop.

Not suitable for Olympus users.
Poor camera support, camera works fine in Lightroom but not supported in C1.
(E-M10 Mark IIIS)
Edit:
Ghosted for 7 months with no response since Dec '22 and then suddenly want me to do more work by logging into a forum to ask and plead for basic support after months of waiting.
Why not just add the camera?
If a software company cannot simply research which cameras are on the market I am amazed.

This is not the first time I lost hours…
This is not the first time I lost hours of work after trying to insert a photo into file. I tried to move an additional shot into the session (cossessiondb) and everything turned into a question mark. When I tried to reopen the file it is all questions marks. Now everything is unrecognized. "failed to connect to database . . . the requested document is not recognized" I was just working on it 48 hours ago!
Who in hell designed this program? I have thousands of raw photos, some processed others awaiting. Your program for file creation is disastrous to say the least. When I first began using this I lost 50% of the irreplaceable shots I took of the Boston Marathon. They're gone. For good.

Not Fit For Purpose - Look Elsewhere
I agree with the last reviewer CEX and, like him, I bought a one time licence for Capture One 21 just a year ago in July 2021.
After submitting two support questions last week I got a response almost a week later telling me my Capture One build version 14.4 is incompatible with the latest Mac IOS Monterey v. 12.5 and suggesting I download the trial version of Capture One 22.
I suggested to them that if an expensive product bought one year ago is incompatible with a Mac software update just months later, then Capture One 21 was unfit for purpose under UK consumer law and to arrange my refund.
I have little doubt based on the sharp practice I have experienced, and read from others, that anyone buying the latest version will find the same problem next year and will be forced to upgrade yet again, repeated next year and so on. Nice business if you can get it.
As others have said, Capture One doesn't really offer a one time licence - it's a one time licence for a few months or one year, if you are lucky, or until the next operating system update. That is appalling customer service and not an experience I will ever repeat. As there is no warning of this when you buy, I regard it as highly misleading and unethical.
It took a week to get any response to the initial support question - painfully slow in any event - and no doubt I will wait a further week for a response to my reply to them. Needless to say, neither support question has been answered.
On that subject, I have fixed one issue myself (the instruction is completely lacking in their User Guide or video tutorial) and am entirely confident neither question has anything whatsoever to do with the operating system version. I suspect the ridiculous answer I got is little more than a crowbar effort to push me into an expensive update.
If thinking of buying be aware a subscription is the only half viable option and that in my opinion is grossly overpriced for what it is. As a professional user I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.
I used Silkypix Studio Pro for many years - right up to V.10 before deciding to try Capture One 21 as there was a slight hitch last year with Mac OS, which Silkypix had not then caught up with.
Silkypix is far easier to use, has features which actually work, doesn't rely on the awful, clunky Capture One type catalogue system (a total nightmare) and the support is far, far superior. Updates to newer versions are modestly priced for existing users (just over £50 in the UK from V. 9 & 10 to the latest 11) and don't appear anywhere near as often. All earlier versions fully function and are supported if there are problems.
With Capture it seems there is a "new" version annually, it's very expensive and support is all but useless if you choose not to buy.
I have just downloaded the latest version Silkypix Studio Pro 11 and all works exactly as it should, the couple of questions I have asked have been answered same day (there is an eight hour time difference between Japan & UK, so excellent service) or early next day, and by people who actually know what they are talking about. It is a relief to feel confident in a product once more.
I will be reverting to Silkypix and my advice to any potential Capture buyer is to consider how very expensive it is, is it any better than other software, are you happy to have to subscribe endlessly, or buy a fresh very expensive version each year, and manage with very poor or non-existent support.
If the answer is No then look elsewhere.
Customer service is so poor that I will never use Capture One again
I am a professional photo retoucher working for a major advertising agency and 2 years ago I bought a subscription to Capture One to try out. Although I liked the program I didn’t see anything about it that I couldn’t do in PS and my interest lapsed. 2 years go by and I just see a transaction for C1 on my PayPal account, I was on auto renewal and was not alerted. Wow, I tried contacting C1 and it seems that their customer support is non existent so zero response. I contacted PayPal and started a claim there and it was denied because I never stopped auto renewal. Last year the same thing happened with Creative Live and I was refunded my money creating a positive customer experience. After the way C1 treated me and with their nonexistent customer service I will NEVER use them again.

It's good until you have a software bug...
Also if you buy a newer camera, you will have to rebuy the whole thing.

Captureone breaks slowly!
It seems like Captureone is getting worn out when using the program!
After I bought it, it worked fine. It went so well a year then it worked miserably.
I bought an update that worked fine the first year time after which this also started working miserably. Slowly, with proxy errors, sudden crashes.
Captureone support does not comment the posts on Trustpilot and they answer very late questions on their support.
If inquiries are answered at all !
It seems as obsolescence has been built into the software.
Captureone 21 otherwise facilitate what I need.
Too bad it's unstable.

Support sucks
Software is decent if it works. The moment it stops working or you have a bug or question and try to contact support... well let's just say their 'support' is nonexistent. Weeks go by and no reply.
Tickets left unanswered, the forum is dead, the account management website is trash.

poor product
lack of updates & features compared to the competition
they never add lens profiles
and want you to pay every year for new features after spending almost £300 on a license

Cant unsubscribe
As many others have mentioned they don't make it easy to unsubscribe. The window seems almost impossibly short to cancel and under the law you should have 30 days grace to 'change your mind' however you are reliant on customer services getting back to you in time. Poor.

Beyond Bad Support
I love the software but support is zero and simply don't respond.
After many hours I managed to work my way through a clunky process and registered my desktop software.
Can't get my Laptop one registered.
Despite having an account on their web site - the software doesn't recognise and manual registration fails.
16 hours have elapsed with no response from so called support.
Avoid if you want to stay sane.

Upďated. Solved with community helpMy money flight away and no software to use
I bought the 2020 version of Capture One for Fujifilm but I cannot use it anymore, since I have to install it on my new PC but it is impossible to download that version anywhere. An it is impossible to have any support: if issue your problem, you have to wait for any customer in the community to answer. Of course nobody has such an answer. Solved thanks to the community. A member shared with me a page from which I can download the old versions

There are a lot of tech companies out…
There are a lot of tech companies out there that listen to their clients and provide a great service, this company isn't one of them....
I purchased Capture one (20) and paid a one off lifetime payment, what they don't tell you is that your software is obsolete as soon as a new camera comes out that you want to purchase, They bring out another release and rather than them supporting the new camera for free they expect you to buy another new version of their complete software.....Being as the camera only gets released a few months after purchasing the software its disgusting that they cant at least give some leeway for at least a couple of years or so (at least)
That is a complaint about how they treat their customers, not even started on their poorly designed software.
All of their marketing literature states it to be one of the best 'photo' editors, the issue is that its a RAW editor (yes we know this, that's its main job not that they let you know that on their marketing info) but it lets you edit jpegs too however doesn't even give you basic tools for editing JPEGS for correcting barrel distortion etc that products costing a fraction of the cost can complete with no issue.
Updates? Have a read of the instructions for doing a simple update.
