Car NO brain

On a scale wish 0. We are company selling a good pick up truck fully equipped they are low ball. DO NOT USE THEM! Start with a site that does not make you send pics & waste your time! Definately not using any mechanics to do an evaluation.
I will give our business to Peddle. An honest no nonsense Company!

Edvin was very easy to work with

Edvin was very easy to work with and I enjoyed talking to him very much! You don't see many companies with customer service this good nowadays. The only thing CarBrain is missing is a price-match guarantee with their competitors; Copart and Peddle both gave me slightly higher offers. If they changed that policy, there would be no reason to ever use anyone else!

The entire experience was great

The entire experience was great, very easy and timely.
CarBrain offered me more money then their competitors like peddle.
The whole process took less then a week and they literally picked the car up from my home and gave me a check. The money was in my account immediately. Thanks CarBrain

Milo was the best

Milo jumped on the information within a couple of hours. He offered up a phone number to speak to himself personally. The personal touch is what sold me as I had better offer from Peddle . I spoke to him and a few other folks at CarBrain and never went to voicemail. Everyone was professional, knowledgeable & helpful from the beginning to the end.

GUARANTEED OFFER WAS NOT GUARANTEED!!

Update 06/03/2024: After a week of some back & forth, and a BBB complaint. Nancy C @ CarBrain has satisfactorily resolved my complaints and we agreed on a resolution.

I've read great reviews about this company, and decided to go with their offer on my car I needed to sell.
They offered me the highest offer out of Peddle, Wheelzy, and CarBrain... By over a $100. They offered me $450; whereas Peddle & Wheelzy offered me $325 & $335 respectively.

I now know why their offer was the highest; because it seems after reading other reviews they use the common BAIT & SWITCH method.

I was tired of paying storage fees on a car for 3yrs to the tune of more than it's worth.

The initial process was pretty straightforward.
CarBrain website asked a few questions about the car and made an offer.

They did not ask ANYTHING about the catalytic converter!! (this comes into play later)

After receiving the quote from CarBrain; I called BIG-H Auto Recyclers in Houston to schedule the pick-up. The lady was friendly, but a bit short. She asked about the title, if I had keys, if the battery was in the vehicle, and if the vehicle had any flats. Still no mention of catalytic converter.

I scheduled the pick-up for Monday May 27th, 2024 between 8am-12 noon. At about 8:45am the tow truck driver called me and stated he would arrive in approx 30min. I met him at the storage facility; and the first thing he did was back the "roll back" tow truck up to the car; and lift it off the ground. Got out of the truck before asking me any questions or greeting me; and looked underneath the car. He immediately stated that there's no catalytic converter and just a piece of straight pipe welded in it's place.
And that the offer would drop substantially. He got back into his truck, made a brief phone call to someone with his door closed; so I couldn't hear the conversation. Got back out and told me the offer was $215. So they deducted $235 for a catalytic converter on a 25yr old car. I found that astonishing; and was at a loss for words.

I said well I was GUARANTEED $450 by CarBrain and no one from CarBrain or BIG-H Auto Recyclers made ANY mention of catalytic converter. He told me the offer was $215 and if I didn't like it he could just leave; because he "had other sh!t to do". Was very snippy and rude about it. I asked how he was going to change the amount because I was told he'd have a $450 check in hand for exchange of the car, title, and keys. He rudely said "what makes you think I have a check on me". I explained that I was told that.

So he told me I could call them while he did paperwork and see if I could get a better offer. He asked for my drivers license and the title; then proceeded to look over the rest of the car. I called Najari@ CarBrain to express my disbelief; and she pretty much told me it was up to the salvage yard. But had no explanation as to why CarBrain guaranteed $450; and now that's changed. Stated that the catalytic converter is worth most of the price. I explained that scrap prices on a catalytic converter of that age is less than $100. And they told me they could find a different offer, but I would have to start the process all over. And I could call BIG-H Auto Recyclers and see what they say.

By this time the tow truck driver was standing next to me and I felt pressured to go through with the $215 price. It was a very uncomfortable situation. And I would have liked to call the auto salvage yard first, but he didn't give me that opportunity.

So I called BIG-H Auto Recyclers afterwards; and they seemed to have the answer ready. And told me CarBrain should have asked me about the catalytic converter. Yet CarBrain tells me the salvage company should have asked me. By the immediate explanation and response I got from both companies; it seems this is a VERY common tactic. Offer the highest dollar amount; and then lower it once the tow truck driver arrives to pick up the vehicle. I read many reviews of similar experiences. Customers being told that there's a "aftermarket" or "universal" catalytic converter on their vehicle, and dropping the price tremendously. Or finding other minor issues to drop price. Shame on them!! SCAMMERS!

I called Najari @ CarBrain again to voice my disappointment and dissatisfaction with the whole ordeal. And they weren't very apologetic. Again placed most of the blame on the auto salvage company; and had no answer on why they GUARANTEED me a price and didn't follow through. Made NO ATTEMPT at rectifying or making the situation right.
And told me the salvage yard should have asked me the right questions. Then turned around and told me I was asked about the catalytic converter on the CarBrain website. Which is a TOTAL lie! When I called her out on that; she sated that it asks if there's any missing parts. But when I select "missing parts" on CarBrain; it then asks about Engine & Transmission.

Dear Nicholas Ervin,
To clarify, our offers are based on the detailed condition of the vehicle as provided by the customer during the initial evaluation. One of the crucial aspects of our engagement process is ensuring that all vehicle components, including the catalytic converter, are accurately reported. If any parts are missing or not disclosed, the offer may need to be adjusted during the pickup inspection to reflect the actual condition of the vehicle. In your case, the original offer of $450 was based on the questionnaire in which you answered there were no parts missing. Upon inspection it was determined the catalytic converter was missing which resulted in the adjusted offer of $215.
We apologize for any misunderstanding regarding this aspect of our process. We will review our procedures to ensure better clarity and transparency in the future.
Regarding your interaction with the tow truck driver and our representatives, we are deeply concerned about the unprofessional behavior you described. This is not the standard of service we uphold at CarBrain. We are taking your feedback seriously and will address this internally to prevent such incidents from occurring again.
We understand the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused you. A member of our management team will reach out to you to further discuss your experience.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We value your feedback and are committed to improving our services.

Stress-free way to sell a car on Planned Non-Operation!

CarBrain was surprisingly lovely to deal with, especially as a femme who doesn't know much about cars!

Josue was my file manager and he was persistent, patient, and kind. He made it very easy for me to just text him the details about my car, and gave me a pretty decent offer ($595, which was $50 higher than the instant offer I got from Peddle). I appreciated how he reached out by both email and text message, and was completely in sync with whatever I'd put into the website.

I could certainly have made more money by selling the car privately, but I didn't want to deal with all that would have involved, since my car was on Planned Non-Operation for 4 years.

They paid me via Cash app and also offered Venmo. It took a bit longer than I expected to have the company come to pick it up, but everything went smoothly and the pick up person was also very kind (especially about me becoming emotional saying goodbye to my trusty old friend).

Only things I'd say to consider:
- Check online to see how long your offer is good for, because when I looked online it was good for a couple days longer than I'd been told verbally.
- CarBrain has a car marketplace if you want to go through CarBrain but sell for a higher price than their offer. If I'd known that earlier, I probably would have wanted to do that (seems easier than selling via eBay / FB Marketplace / etc).
- I had some technical glitches with the website, where it wouldn't let me enter a confirmation code. Hopefully they'll fix that, but the customer service was so excellent that it didn't impede me too much.

Great folks to work with.

Everyone I spoke to, directly or via email was so courteous and polite. Made selling the car so easy compared to Peddle honestly. Eddison was amazing and checked up on the process many times throughout. Would highly recommend.

Bill and Car Brain were great

Bill and Car Brain were great! I received an offer for more than the offer I received from Peddle. The towing was seamless and received the check from the driver. We were a bit skeptical in the beginning, but ended up being 100% pleased. So glad we found Car Brain and highly recommend them to everyone.

Predatory company

Predatory company, especially with COVID-19. Felt like they were praying upon my situation hoping I would be desperate. Go with Peddle, way better experience.

So, I entered my VIN and stuff but did not have any pics at the time and was going to put them in the next day. It said based on everything I would be offered $4390-$2500 and would need pics for more value.

Before I could submit pics they already sent me an offer for $2250 later that next day. I emailed Angela (very unprofessional, never answers direct questions and replies with generic responses) sent her the pics and everything. My car had nothing but an engine problem; the exterior and interior was pristine. I told her I was expecting to get closer to the 4 range for my Mercedes. She replied and said she would update my file and shop with buyers. A few hours later, CONGRATS you have an offer for $2250. I was like so you are giving me the same exact price as the one with no pictures. She replied with a generic response and said that was all that the buyers could do basically. I knew what my vehicle was worth and even if you wanted to part the thing out. It made no sense. Either she didn’t want to update the offer or her manager is praying upon my situation from the email I sent.

Anyways I got $1800 more on peddle and they are very thorough with the details you enter before they even give you an instant offer. And you have the option to list it.

I never review companies but I really felt the need to because I don’t want people getting screwed. Would never recommend this company and will always recommend Peddle.

Reply to Carbrain:

I have not used any negative language other than the fact my experience with you all has been negative. And please quit calling my number and trying to contact me. I have no more business with you all other than the your low ball offer that I respectfully declined/questioned. You should just accept the negative review and get better at being fair. And I would be happy to post all the conversations I’ve had. But there’s no need I explained it thoroughly and honestly enough.

My advice to others: read what the low reviews say because they are all very similar to my experience because I feel like they pump up their 5-star reviews on this site just like an amazon product.

Dear Jacob,

We reviewed all your communication with Angela, and at all the time, she was attentive and tried to get you the highest possible offer. You are using a strong negative language, which is based on the fact that our buyers could not get you $4k for your non-driving vehicle.

Our company is one of the most respected in the salvage vehicle industry.
The fair market valuation takes into account the condition of your salvage vehicle in your current location.

Feel free to call us back to discuss your case in detail: 877.877.7911.

Shall you have issues with using other company to pick up your vehicle, we will be happy to assist you.

We wish you all the best.

Please don't use this company

Please don't use this company. The towing company they set me up with kept me waiting for eight hours!!! I had to drive 2 hours to meet them where my car was stuck and then waited for eight hours before the guy contacted me and told me he was 2 hours away and wanted to re-scedule for the next day. I wasted 12 hours of my life. The women who were the contact for the tow company were USELESS. Call Peddle if you have a car to sell. They were excellant!!

Dear Aidan,
We apologize for the bad experience you had with the towing company. We are currently investigating what went wrong to prevent this type of issues in the future. We do our best to provide fast and reliable service; however, we do depend on our local partners. Our manager will reach out to you to understand better what could be done to avoid this situation. Thank you for your feedback.

I almost never do positive reviews but…

I almost never do positive reviews but felt compelled to do so because this can be a trying process. First of all, I am so glad I went with Carbrain over Peddle. Bill was attentive and helpful. He offered to communicate however I wanted, even text message. He even helped me get a better offer when Peddle tried to swoop in. Thankfully Peddle’s reviews are terrible. The towing service Carbrain set me up with worked with me to make sure the transaction went as smoothly as possible.
