The logic/journey used on sms needs improvement. Since I’ve contacted several dealers about different 4Runners, I think the auto text message should include the link to the car, not just the ID number... See more

Wanted to sell a car
Received email from Car Gurus:
"Congratulations, your offer is here! $26,525
Valid through 10/27/2024
Audi North Miami...
View full reported vehicle condition below"
Went to see Audi North Miami, who
- said they did not generate offer,
- amount was "computer-generated"
- proceeded to low ball my their "appraisal"
What has odd was Audi North Miami had posters up saying "No haggle no hassle pricing policy...We do not play pricing games."
Apparently this only applies to the price THEY put on used cars, not the OFFERS CarGurus forwards with their name.
Interesting. CarGurus response was the "offer" is an offer of the kind that the dealer can change for any reason. Not really what the word "offer" means.

Bait and switch. Online sell your car offer from local dealer. Made an appointment. Drive 25 miles the local dealer to complete transaction. There is fine print that “The dealership will verify the condition of your vehicle before proceeding with the sale.” Upon arrival said he wasn’t sure where Cargurus got that number and they could offer significantly less (never looked at the condition). This is classic bait and switch and a dishonest business practice. Shame!

I've never seen a business decline so much in just a few years as these clowns! You used to could list your vehicle(s) on there & offer at a fair price & gain a good audience of potential buyers. They held both seller & buyer to interact with integrity. Sold numerous vehicles through CG's & it was a legit platform for buyers & sellers. Now; for whatever reason; the new clown leadership at CG's only wants to have you enter your vehicle info so they can offer to buy it from you! I mean they offer like 35-40% of the vehicles value & dont allow seller to post it on there site unless they GIVE it to them! What a CROCK! Just like many other businesss; some egg head has obviously taken over who thinks they can get sellers to give them there cars & let them sale them to make all the money the seller deserves. Just one more good thing that has went south due to these stupid new egg heads who know nothing except IT!

I made an offer on a car and no one ever got back to me to say come and pick it up, or tell me no.

I dont understand how a vehicle coming from a dealership is a great deal @ $30k, but the same vehicle from me, a private party, is overpriced. The vehicle is still under factory warranty, and I offer all the same things as a dealer except financing! This website is totally getting kickbacks from dealers that it sends people to get screwed on selling their cars for $5k less than they are worth!

If you are selling, just go with a different service. They are not making you a real offer and will give you very little time to decide, so that they can take advantage of you.

These are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. Eli in New Jersey won't return your call and was actually a dick to deal with. I went to carmax and put down 40 thousand dollars in cash and they were extremely happy to finance me a new truck and there interest rates are much better. Someone in Chicago was also very rude about a truck they were selling. I will never use this rude company again. Do yourself a favor and contact Carmax for better selection nicer people and better rates. I got a much better offer for my truck from Carmax as well actually 5 thousand dollars more. Stay away from cargurus. Should be CarGoobers

On 8/12/2023 my wife and I purchased a used 2021 Charger from Ft. Myers Mitsubishi. We took a test drive and decided we want the car, after signing the paperwork we left the dealership. About 1/2 mile down the road the overheat light came on, then the service shifter light came on. We took the car back to the dealer. I also notified them that the A/C isn’t cooling in the seats and the memory seat isn’t working, they assured me that they would repair the car. One week later they called to notify me that everything was taken care of. I realized right away that the A/C still wasn’t working and neither were the memory seats, and the service shifter light was still coming on, they apologized and said they would take care of the problems. One week later I went back to get the car, everything seemed ok at this time, since we finally got the car home, I decided to add my Sirius subscription to the car, but it wasn’t able to connect to the satellite. I called Sirius to isolate the issue, after some time they informed me that either the radio or the antenna was causing the problem. Since we finally got the car home i started looking the car over and noticed a hump in the dash near the windshield. I also noticed that the A/c wasn’t cooling on the passenger side, so I decided since we purchased a platinum service contract [ United States Warranty Corporation] who has a BBB rating of D. I did take it to a Dodge dealership. The Dodge dealer reported that someone added the wrong type of Freon and will cause total A/C deterioration, the Key Fob was not original, it’s an aftermarket, and the satellite antenna is not working. The Dodge dealer called my Warranty company, which told them that all charges over $750 had to be done by the selling dealer. Total cost of repairs would be around $10,000. I took the car back to the Mitsubishi Dealer again. The dealer advised me that the warranty company would not cover any of my repairs, but the dealership will replace the antenna at no charge. Fort Myers Mitsubishi informed me today 09/23/2023 that car is ready. The satellite radio still didn’t work, they said the antenna they installed was wrong, so they had me wait 2 hours for the replacement, then they informed it wasn’t working. The Dodge dealership offered a trade for a 2023 Dodge Charger, but he could only offer $9,000 trade in for the car I purchased at Ft. Myers Mitsubishi, a few weeks earlier, for $22,000.

They sent an offer for my car for $19k only to get the “real appraisal “ from Crest Nissan at $16k. Useless, both of them

Every seller contacted through this app/service, and every competitor, has responded with a boilerplate reply that ignores every question written them, and most ignored references the specific vehicle my inquiry was sent in regards to their listings. The standard reply is to attempt to push a 'personal appointment to answer questions.
Worse, even with vehicles costing over $20k, most dealers absolutely forbid permission to have the vehicles inspected by a third party off of the lot. Whem questioned, each "graciously" allows the buyer to hire a mechanic to come TO THEIR LOT, with their own tools, to inspect the vehicles. I didn't bother pricing this 'service,' an inspection on that third party location is likely $250. Hiring a mechanic away from their normal location, is likely a minimum of $500 amd likely at least a multiply of this number. Frankly, I think this, "offer" is insulting as is the attitude if, "we don't trust our customers to get an independent inspection, but the MUST trust these sellers w/ no return or warranty policy. These used vehicles are tens of thousands of dollars and are strictly sold, "as is", meaning that after ine signs the paperwork, they are just screwed if the engine falls out, and they'd likely charge to have the vehicle moved or stored.

A car dealership told me I should try and sell my 2023 car to Carmax- they give the best prices. So I went to Carmax and got a written offer within an hour. It was exactly the same amount a different dealership offered me. So I’m pleased to know Carmax didn’t try to low ball me.

CarGurus gave me an offer to purchase my car and I accepted. Two days before pickup of car they wanted to change (lower) their offer. In the meantime I had passed on two other offers. They gave no real reason for change of offer. Would only communicate to me via text. Seems very shady...at lease the San Diego office.

I had a great experience with CarGurus. I actually tried Vroom first and CarGurus beat their offer by over 2x. Process was simple and quick. I would highly recommend.
When you consider to sell your used car to cargurus, price seems competitive and promising. Until the car delivery moment, the process seems flawless. They communicate you and send you documents as well as organize zoom chat with an agent. After that they give you a three day window when a driver come to pick the car. On the first appointment, they gave a time window on Friday 1-3pm. The driver did not show up. When I called them why the driver did not come, they do not know why and they do not have any direct contact with the company doing the car transportation. What they tell you is simply to reschedule. Since I did not have any choice I did another appointment for Monday 9-11am. No one contacted me on this day too. The driver did not come. When I called to cargurus, they give me the same response: they do not know and asked me to reschedule. Their system is very poor and disorganized. The customer service agents are not cooperative and informed. You could literally wait forever until a driver come to take your car. I do not want other consumers stuck like me. I advise you avoid cargurus for selling your used car.
Decent experience getting a offer to sell my automobile. Had to provide several forms of identification on vehicle so that might discourage some from process. I got offer within minutes that was very close to KBB value estimates. I accepted offer but received little communication immediately on when someone from CarOffer would actually pick up vehicle. I eventually after couple days cancelled offer because I could not find a new vehicle to purchase in stock and could be months waiting for one. This appears to be a acceptable way of bypassing a dealership on bickering with trade in value. At least you can get a online offer relatively easily to compare if you go to a dealer.
I will say they're useless. First many vehicles are already sold due to the car business. As others stayed many are just paid advertisements by dealers. The biggest thing that bothers me is on every car description it shows (get Pre-authorization} from Cap One or Westlake. Westlake is always higher rate FYI. But I spoke to several dealers after they get your number and when asked about the pre-approval they all said to that means nothing. Either they use their own banks, don't offer financing at all, cash only,or they have to run your report to get the real numbers. So my point is why bother giving people using the site the false sense of a budget when in reality it means nothing unless of course you want the highest rate anyways. The one dealer in Ohio has a Ford 150 with holes in frame. Don't ya think that should be in the vehicle description? Nothing bothers me more is when companies waste their potential customers time and hits to their credit and lose points. They should have enough experience in the finance department to know what historically will be required and how much down etc especially if you already know your score.
