Castle Trust Bank was launched as 'Castle Trust' in October 2012, and in June 2020 we became Castle Trust Bank – a fully authorised UK bank. We’ve offered fixed-term, fixed rate savings accounts to existing customers since the end of 2020, and launched online savings accounts to new customers in August 2021. Eligible deposits with Castle Trust Bank are protected up to a total of £120,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK’s deposit guarantee scheme. We are also a provider of specialist buy-to-let, and property development mortgages.

I was looking for a trusted bank with a good fixed rate ISA and a good friend advised my wife and I to look at Castle Trust. I was impressed with their top rated fixed ISA and also how simple it was to apply and be accepted.

I am disappointed that i have not been…

I am disappointed that i have not been given the higher rate on my new cash isa as by the time of maturity of my savings account a higher rate was offered which i feel should have been offered to me.

Our interest rates can increase or decrease at short notice particularly in the current environment and our customers can move into the higher rate if this happens within their 14 day cooling off period and they contact us to request the change.

Efficient admin but exceedingly poor interim interest rate

I had applied to transfer my maturing Castle Trust ISA to Virgin Money but this was delayed by Virgin and I ended up reinvesting in a new Castle trust ISA.
Transfer efficiently handle by Castle Trust but I am very disappointed in the 0.1% p.a. interest rate in the Castle Trust Maturity Holding Account during the 4 day delay.

Following the reply from Castle Trust I looked at the terms of their current fixed terms ISA which onclude the following in the section on the Maturity Holding Accounts: '
What is the interest rate?
The interest rate is variable and may change during the life of the product. Please refer to the latest Summary Box at "link" for available interest rates on Maturity Holding Accounts. '

I have looked at the Summary Box for current ISAs and there is no interest rate on Maturity Holding Accounts included.

We're sorry that you are disappointed with our Maturity Holding Account rate. This account is designed as a temporary account to hold funds whilst awaiting an instruction to reinvest (if no instruction to do so is received before the account matures), or whilst awaiting a request to transfer away to another provider. We're unable to extend the Fixed Rate that was payable beyond the maturity date. We're pleased that we were able to reinvest your savings quickly once you decided not to transfer to Virgin Money.

Not the clearest website

It is very difficult navigating your website and folloiwng a clear path to establish an account. I have done this many times in the past and still find it unintuitive.
