Hi Karen - thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you're disappointed with heat output from your Napoleon Purview 50. Electric fireplaces are designed to provide supplemental heat, not as primary heat source. With any 120V electric fireplace, the maximum heat output is capped at 5,000 BTU, regardless of brand or model. In typical conditions, that level of heat is meant to supplement comfort in smaller rooms, but the real-world results can vary quite a bit depending on room insulation, ceiling height, drafts, exterior walls or windows, and where the fireplace is positioned in the room.
We do have other options that heat more efficiently, including infrared cabinet heaters like this one: www.chadwicksandhacks.com/products/konwin-cabinet-infrared-heater-1500w.
