I like the ease of meal preparation. The recipies are a little too simplistic possibly, but they taste good. My biggest wish is that they would add more vegetables within each portion . I often feel I... See more

I love this service!! A friend of mine (a busy mom) has been using it for several years and I never thought it would be beneficial for myself.
My husband died a year ago and being on my own I have not been eating properly at all. Everytime I'm in town (I live in a rual area) and should go grocery shopping I can't be bothered so I end up buying canned goods or frozen pizza from the corner store......not good at all.
I finally realized I should try Chef's Plate and what an amazing change for me.
The meals come all ready to cook, with all the spices and sauces included. Now I am cooking delicious suppers for myself that I never would have in the past and the cost is minimal. No waste, everything is package in good sized portions. And there are SO many meals ideas that I have a problem just picking my 3 choices for the week. lol
One item I was concerned about was spinach because it can go "off" quickly but all the meals I've had that included spinach it was been very fresh and lasted easily to up to 4 - 5 days.
This service has really changed the way I think about cooking for myself. My friend calls this the "Response Effort" (she is a board certified psychologist) - "the physical, mental, or temporal cost (distance, force, time) required to perform a behavior, directly influencing the likelihood of its occurrence. Lowering effort increases desirable behaviors, while increasing effort decreases undesirable ones." This really applies to my situation!
And weeks that I want to "skip" were no issue at all.

What i really disliked is my last order was plan for saturday february 21 with out notice it was only delivered on SUNDAY 22!!!
I didn't even get a price reduction on my next box or something...

the meals are great, but lack flavor. Maybe include extra spice for people that like it? Gives the consumer the option to customize.
Also the packaging - have received several items damaged or frozen. maybe pack veggies in paper bags?

Honestly feel its repetitive. Not a lot of options when this is specifically why I re activated.

I signed up online to look at the menu (can't look at it otherwise) and then cancelled my subscription same day, about an hour or so later.
Get an email a few days later and my box was shipped?? What box? I cancelled?! I was gonna say screw it and just try the box anyways, I was interested in the product after all. So I was charged for a box Feb 16th, and it's Feb 25th and I still haven't received anything.
I did contact for a refund today which they said they will process, hopefully it comes. But according to Purolator the box was sent back to the shipper as "damaged"?
So it feels like I was charged for a product I didn't want and would never actually receive. Don't like that. Too bad as this is a Canadian company I wanted to support.

There are many menu options and being able to change how many meals and how many a week I get is helpful. Good portion sizes.
Due to cold weather though my delivery came to me partially frozen (potatoes, zucchini) so be cautious about weather when selecting delivery dates.

The food was fresh, just the right amount, well packaged. Love the turkey chow mein. Cantonese noodles are the best

Some recipes are very good, others are okay. At the end of the day it's a lot of the same.
It's better than other companies, but still a lot of packaging and single use plastic.

Great prices on weekly dinner recipes. Portions are good

Something for everyone in my family!
So much more convenience then going to the store and grabbing things I don't even need!
Veggies have always been good!
10/10

I have only had the quesdillas so far. Ease of preparation and taste was great. Only problem - not enough sour cream. I only had two and didn't even use a half a teaspoon of sour cream on the two that I had. There definitely wasn't enough for six quesdillas.

This is the 2nd time in 6 months that I am not receiving my order as planned. I was supposed to receive a box today and it has not even left the facility yet so for sure I will not be receiving it today and I don’t even know if I will receive it tomorrow. This is very disappointing. I will be cancelling my membership and go back to my previous meal planning supplier.

I recently returned to Chef’s Plate after a couple of years away. Upon logging in, I noticed the website had been updated. I entered my credit card details, browsed the menu, and decided to hold off on placing an order, as I always take time to consider purchases carefully.
Unbeknownst to me, an order was somehow processed without my confirmation. When I realized this the next day, I immediately called to cancel. Unfortunately, the order had already been prepared and handed off to FedEx for delivery the following day (Wednesday, February 18).
A significant snowstorm hit Alberta around that time, causing widespread disruptions. Tracking initially showed the delivery as “on time,” but I soon received notifications of weather exceptions delaying it beyond the 18th. Despite this, FedEx transported the package from Edmonton to Calgary (passing extremely near my location, i can literally hear the trafic from the highway from my front door) on the day of the blizzard, and then from Calgary to Red Deer on the 19th—again bypassing my area—before eventual delivery.
While I understand FedEx has established routes and protocols, this routing resulted in unnecessary fuel use, time delays, and inefficiency. More critically, the prolonged transit in extreme cold conditions caused most of the perishable food to freeze solid. I had to discard the majority of the contents, rendering the order unusable.
Chef’s Plate’s packaging—while including an insulated liner and ice packs—proved insufficient to protect against extended weather-related delays in sub-zero temperatures. There was no apparent contingency for such scenarios, and no proactive communication or resolution from the company.
This experience was deeply disappointing and wasteful. As a result, I rate Chef’s Plate very poorly and will not be ordering from them again. Also, to mention the chef plate site says my order was delivered on the 18th, but that’s not true. It was delivered on the 19th. So FedEx is not divulging that obviously.
UPDATE: chef’s plate got a hold of me as they said they would. They fixed the problem by reimbursing me. I really appreciated that. I am changing my rating from 1 star to 3 stars as something could have been done when you can see and warned about inclement weather forcasted because we have the technology now, and nothing was done about it on either side.
