Honestly, I've shopped at City Beach's website - I'm in New Zealand, they're in Australia (duh!) - and never had an issue. Super fast delivery, always exactly what you ordered and paid for, and such... See more

Product faulty, useless customer service
Product was faulty. Staff useless. Customer service non-existent.
Bag fell apart inside 3 nonths of use. Staff instore to busy on their phones, talking to friends or standing in front of mirrors. None of them new how to handle my return enquiry. Online returns no better. Refused to help me even after viewing photos of the bag. Stated I would escalate to ACCC, was asked to return the bag to them at my own expense. Finally issued a refund for the bag only. No the shipping fee. No apology. Will never shop here again

Shocking website
Shocking website. Do not recommend. Took me all the way to checkout once i had filled in all car details before it told me that the item was out of stock. Not to mention their store. I see why people call it ‘Shitty Beach’.

Tried using the click and collect service, items not available in store after receiving email they were ready for collection. Asked for a refund staff in store advised they couldn’t help me had to request refund online. One week later no refund, told my refund would be complete in 24 hours. Terrible service

Ordered some t shirts for my son to take on holiday. Should have arrived yesterday. Contacted customer service who said they have a “technical” issue and that the order hasn’t even been dispatched. We fly on Tuesday so no chance they’ll arrive and he’s gutted. Also they said “we’ll be in touch with an update”… but when? Annoying when fast to take the funds but nothing is coming. No easy way to contact them either, just shoddy online forms.

Rude worker and low range of sizes
I went in today and was trying on some clothes but because of the low range in size none of it fitted, so therefore I went to put it on the rack outside the change rooms and the lady their said “can you just put those thing were you found them.” She was so rude about it as well.

AWFUL ONLINE EXPERIENCE
1st time using this company, purchased online, the website was frustrating as kept removing all items from the cart when I skipping between pages it kept clearing them. The payment process was glitchy, I tired multiple times to pay via PayPal ( three installments ) however it wouldn't let me use my u.k address even though I've never had an issue before so assumed the postcode couldn't have any spaces - after a few time of going in and out it eventually came up with an order number and signs of the payment going through, however when I checked with my bank there were 4 x pending payment withdrawals from city beach - WTF! I never gave authorisation 4 times, just the once there website is a joke, I need my money back in my account - not an overall pleasant experience, online shopping should be hassle free not stressful! Would not recommend as now I have to wait around for them to cancel the other three pending payments and my money to appear back into my account. SHOCKING!

Two weeks old. Hole in the shoe. City Beach said not their problem.
I bought a pair of Nikes from City Beach online. After about two weeks of wearing them normally, the right shoe split along the side. Not scuffed, not dragged, a proper tear in the material.
I got in touch, sent them photos from multiple angles like they asked, and waited. They came back and said it looked like "accidental damage/wear and tear." Two weeks. Wear and tear. On a brand new shoe.
I've worn Nikes my entire life. This has happened to me a couple of times before with similar defects, and Nike replaced the shoe without any fuss. So I know what a manufacturing fault looks like, and I know how a company should handle it.
I explained all of this and pushed back. I suggested this doesn't comply with ACCC. Their response? They sent me a link to the ACCC complaints page and basically said go ahead and report us. Didn't offer to take another look. Didn't ask me to send the shoe back for a proper inspection. Just, here's the complaints link, good luck.
That really says it all. A shoe shouldn't fall apart after two weeks, and a retailer shouldn't shrug their shoulders when it does. Consumer Law exists for exactly this reason.
I would recommend buying direct from Nike next time. At least they'll actually deal with you when something goes wrong.

So after City Beach not sending out my order with every excuse under the sun. They finally sent me an email with a tracking number. I'm tracking it a week later and they say tracking number doesn't exist, I rang nz couriers, they told me it hadn't even been picked up from City beach. I strongly advise not using this company. This is the worst service I've ever had.

Very bad service
Very bad service. We bought a Needoh Dream Drop in blue and after waiting 2 weeks received a pink one instead and now they wanted me to pay £8 to send it back which the whole thing cost £11.99 they know people wouldn't pay £8 to get back your £3.99 I wouldn't so i call it lost but never buy anything from city beach again.

No help with a sentimental birthday…
No help with a sentimental birthday present — absolutely disgraceful.
My sister passed away last week. We recently received her birthday present for my daughter, and I was trying to continue that sentiment by buying something she would have loved to give her — a simple bag for her upcoming birthday. That’s all I was trying to do.
I went to to purchase a bag that was advertised with 20% off. But their website is completely broken — the checkout just loops endlessly, going round and round with no way to actually complete the purchase.
I contacted customer service, explained everything, and asked for help. Instead of actually doing anything useful, I was told the item had “probably sold out.” At the time I was trying to buy it, it was clearly still showing as available — no warnings, no low stock notice, nothing. Just another excuse.
I asked for escalation. I asked for someone to actually assist me. Instead, I got the same copy-paste responses over and over again — like they couldn’t care less. No ownership, no effort, no resolution.
The only thing they offered? Increasing the discount from 20% to 25%. Completely useless when I still couldn’t even get through checkout.
Honestly, it felt like they went out of their way to not help. Dismissive, unhelpful, and completely indifferent — even after I explained the situation and why this purchase actually meant something.
I will not be shopping with City Beach again. If this is how they treat customers trying to make a meaningful purchase, they can keep their products.
Absolutely appalling experience.

I recently made a purchase during a promotion and unfortunately forgot to apply the discount code at checkout.
I contacted customer service straight away, while the promotion was still running, but was told no adjustment could be made.
While I accept it was my mistake, I was disappointed there was no flexibility or goodwill offered, even as store credit.
I’ve shopped here before and didn’t expect this level of inflexibility over a simple human error. It felt like a very rigid approach and not the level of customer service I’d hoped for.

No confirmation email and no order showing on website.
Won't use the website again. placed an order. I did not receive a confirmation email and was kicked off their web page. When I got back on it said i hadn't placed an order. Very, very annoyed. Gave it a couple of days and was about to ask the bank to reverse the charge when I received an email saying the parcel was on its way, get your act together!

City beach what a joke.…
Was ready to spend a few healthy dollars at city beach Rockingham store but walked away with nothing. The service in this store is appalling (if any service at all). Not 1 member of staff acknowledged me at all & i was even made to feel like a bother when asked for assistance. Already a bitter taste in mouth but proceeded to purchase the several items I had then i get to the til & theres 1 person serving. There are 2 other staff members standing behind counter but when asked if they could put us thru was told they weren't allowed to serve us. What??? There were 3 customers infront of me & 2 behind. Myself & the man behind me both just put dumped our stuff & left store. What a disgrace. All kids working, where are the adults supervising these young kids??? Your clothing is highly priced, surely you can afford to hire some senior staff. Honestly this store is a joke, I will never step foot in a city beach store again.

Kustom thongs- will shrink in the sun!
Purchased a pair of Kustom thongs. Wore them twice, then left them on the deck for a day in the sun and the rubber soles shrunk to the point that they are unwearable. Contacted customer support and after numerous back and forths, they determined that it was 'accidental damage'. If you cant leave a pair of thongs in the sun in summer without them self destructing, theyve been made with the wrong materials and arent fit for purpose. Pretty disappointing.
Edit: I also let them know that I have the exact same model of thongs purchased 4 years ago, that have had the exact same treatment and have not had the same issue. They are very comfy, but now a bit tired, so that’s the very reason I bought a new pair. Clearly they have changed the materials used in manufacture, so I’m not sure how this cannot be classified as a manufacturing fault. Your thongs can’t handle the summer sun- do your board shorts dissolve in water?
And to make it extra laughable, following their ‘assessment’, yesterday they went to the effort of posting back my clearly unwearable thongs back to me in the post!

No “Beach” in these stores
I’ve tried a couple of City Beach stores. Perhaps remove the “Beach” from the name. Not one single women’s surf/beach brand tshirt within three stores. Advertised online but returns/exchanges are difficult and need to try on. Just stick with Ringers Western (cult 🤮) or your “eshay/hoodrat” uniforms. Surf culture gone. Better to go to Surf Dive and Ski

I bought this bag and within 3 months it broke, no compensation given
I bought this bag and within 3 months, the first buckle broke off. I contacted CityBeach. They are not able to give a new buckle, a partial refund or a full refund as they are of the opinion that their products don't need to last more than 3 months. After several emails in which they asked for more proof of purchase, they responded they could not assist me, looking at the photo I sent in the first email , meaning the other 3 emails with more proof of purchase were unnecessary. So not only, no compensation, but also poor customer service unfortunately. unnecessary. So not only, no compensation, but also poor customer service unfortunately.
As you can see below, City Beach has responded and apologised, but does no attempt to solve the issue, which proves my point again.
