Outstanding Support and Diligence
Working with Hasnain Shafi at Clever Accounts has been a consistently excellent experience. Hasnain is diligent, always on time, and genuinely goes the extra mile to ensure every detail is clearly explained, no matter how complex. His respectful and knowledgeable approach has made managing my accounts straightforward and stress-free. Even when he’s been away, the rest of the Clever Accounts team has stepped in seamlessly, providing prompt and thorough responses to my queries. Highly recommended for anyone seeking reliable, client-focused accounting support.

I have been a client for two years+ , whilst acknowledging that as a new business owner inexperienced in accounting and business practices i needed help with this area. I have had a number of accountant over my time with Clever Accounts which is not ideal and did not allow for continuity to be established with a dedicated accountant over a longer time period due to these changes. With this said my experience has been mostly a positive one, i have recently been teamed up with a new accountant "Kiran" who has been extremely helpful and efficient, i am really hopeful that i will continue to work for an extended period with "Kiran" who has been a pleasure to work with, in the past there has been on occasion difficulty in getting the information i require in a timely manner, this is not the case with "Kiran" she has shown patience and understanding and takes time to explain the intricacies involved in the accounting/tax world which is greatly appreciated from my side.
I look forward to continuing to work alongside "Kiran" and appreciate her professionalism and help.

I found Clever Accounts to be an overly expensive and unnecessarily complex solution, especially considering how much manual work I was required to do myself. Inputting and categorising every expense and payment felt like I was doing the job I was paying them for. Their support was unhelpful and disorganised, and it took them over six months to close my company — a closure I believe they were partly responsible for due to excessive fees, lack of support, and poor management. To make matters worse, they even attempted to invoice me after my company had already been closed.

Don’t recommend one bit. I had no accountancy work done for me so I can’t speak on behalf of that but what I can say is I paid over the phone first phone call with them on the 29th March. I had an accident fell and ended up in a&e with broken ribs so obviously no longer needed their service as I wouldn’t be working untill better. Requested a refund maybe a week after paying, a lot of bad communication wasn’t receiving half of the emails what was supposedly sent to me. Finally get told my refund was been processed and will take 2 weeks. It’s now 3 weeks later since I got an email to say it’s been processed bare in mind I paid in March and it’s taken this long to actually get an email to say it’s been processed. I rang up today to ask about the refund as I hadn’t received it to then get put on hold then hung up on! And I decided to ring as emails clearly aren’t a good option with half of emails I wasn’t receiving, after then getting told they had been sent..
Looks as if I’ll be going thru my bank to get this refund.
Just makes you think how many people this is happening to, have to pay upfront on the phone then takes about 2 month to finally get told your refund will be processed within 2 weeks then not actually receive a refund.

Avoid there a shambles not even properly qualified I've had an accountant do everything wrong not worth the stress go somewhere else!!!

I found my experience with this company extremely frustrating and disappointing. Over the course of a year, it became clear that their business model focuses more on locking clients into overpriced monthly subscriptions than actually providing helpful or transparent service.

Whenever I asked questions to understand the process, their responses felt deliberately confusing — as if the goal was to make things seem more complicated than necessary. Basic communication and guidance, which you would expect from an accounting service, were consistently lacking and often condescending in tone.

One of the most concerning aspects was the lack of proactive communication. I was not notified about an important filing deadline and only discovered it myself by logging into their platform — something a professional accountant should flag well in advance. Despite charging monthly, they often left submissions and paperwork until the last moment, showing little respect for client timelines or peace of mind.

In hindsight, it would have been far more cost-effective and less stressful to hire someone for a one-off service rather than committing to their ongoing fees. Most of the basic information I needed, I ultimately found myself — directly on the HMRC website.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend them. Their approach felt more focused on retaining clients for steady payments rather than providing clear, ethical, and valuable service.

Can’t recommend Suhail enough!

Suhail is a brilliant accountant, effective communication and also breaks everything down really well. End of year accounts were done swiftly and anytime I need support he encourages calls and consistent communication.

Would reccomend, third accountant I’ve had and by far the best :)

Can not reccomend elli-mae enough! After setting up my first business, and, as we all know, not being taught a thing school!
