Everything going very well for a long time. Then we had to change a tutor. Then the tutor changed another two times it was a bit disruptive. Hoping things settle down now.

Beware

Beware — this feels like a scam!
I was told over the phone to set up a payment for an assessment session. I specifically asked whether the charge would go through only after confirmation, and was assured it would. However, my card was charged instantly without warning.

The representative said each session would cost $60, but failed to mention that the rate would jump to $99 per session right away. After receiving a generic welcome email, I was hit with six separate charges totaling $120 AUD—all without any notification.

To make matters worse, I couldn’t reach the salesperson or anyone else after that, and no confirmation email about the transaction was ever sent. This entire experience has been incredibly misleading and dishonest.

SCAM! charging more, charging for the free sessions!!

They called me and told me to set up a payment for the an assessment lesson. I confirmed whether the payment would be confirmed before being processed, and they just "ping" my card. The salesperson told me Yes, no worries. Also, he told me the sessions would be $60/ session, but did not mention that the price would increase to $99 / session right away. After sending the welcoming email, I was charged 6 times for 120 AUD!!!!!I wasn't even notified of the payment. After this nonsense, I couldn't reach him or anyone by calling back, nor could I get any confirmation email about the payment. This is a total SCAM!

My Yr10 student who is preparing for VCE mathematics is finding the Cluey tutorial extremely helpful. The tutor is flexible when it comes to changing up topics being covered on any particular session.
A great experience for my YR 10 student.

Content Parent

Cluey learning is convenient, and my daughter says her tutor is very helpful and explains until she understands.
For working parents having the convenience of extra tutoring is key and Cluey learning ticks those boxes.

I’m glad I’ve been reading some reviews and others have experienced a similar problem with mine, I cancelled a lesson a week in advance I misunderstood that the lesson was online. Very terrible experience with customer service and I’m very disappointed that you need to pay for a trial.

Extremely bad customer service

Signed up for a 2 hrs trial but cluey charged me for 6 hrs even before the first trial tutorial took place. They do not reply to emails and if they do the answers are generic and not on topic. The phone customer service is always busy. STAY AWAY.

From the beginning Cluey provided excellent communication so I was very clear on all aspects of tutoring for my grandaughter. The online process is easy to use, interactive and professional. My grandaughter has improved her understanding and results at school along with greater confidence in her abilility. Classroom learning can be difficult so this one on one lesson has been irreplacable.

Carl rocks!

I was sceptical about the value of the maths tutoring sessions but from the very first one there was measurable improvement in my son’s comprehension. Carl took the time to explain the concepts (trig) and my son picked up in 15 minutes what he had missed in 7 learning weeks at school. Highly recommend.

It’s a long one cause it’s been a crap experience

It’s a long one… sorry, not sorry. Hopefully this review could help someone else avoid making the same mistake i did by doing the “Trial” two weeks
We are only 1 lesson into our 4 “trial” period sessions. 2 x English and 2 x Math. The tutor (english) was lovely and my normally very anxious 10yr old son responded very positively to her. There wasn’t any flexibility in what we picked for the trial, you have to do 1 x english and 1 x math per week for the two weeks. Math wasn’t really one i was going to trial but after seeing how the english one had gone i was looking forward to seeing the math class and understood it’s important for their business that we get to see if both areas would benefit our children.

Unfortunately it all went down hill from there very quickly .

His session was 4-5pm. I’m a single parent with 3 kids, as soon as the lesson was over it was straight into dinner, bath and bedtime. I had figured I would log back into the “hub” the next afternoon when i had a second free to look over the option to continue after the trial period. By the time i woke up 5am the next day I had been charged for the maximum rate of a single week by week session. Now i was informed that i needed to specify what i wanted to do moving forward BUT I truly understood that to mean by the end of the trial time…. so by the end of the second session and not before we had even had a chance to trial the math tutor. I called and the customer service lady canceled any future payment and put in a request to refund. Now again i’m a single parent so budgeting week by week i can’t afford to have a surprise $90 come out two days before payday. I would only be able to afford cluey high cost if i took up the multiple sessions in advance price but i hadn’t even been given 12hrs to make a decision (most of
that i was asleep for). Later that day i received an email stating that i would not be receiving any refund . I have attached the response below
Jarrod clearly outlined the structure of the enrolment during the call:
"Just so you know, we're enrolling into ongoing lessons for English and Mathematics. We're doing the first four one-hour lessons at the discounted rate of $47.50 each."

When Emma confirmed her understanding, Jarrod continued:
"Once you've met the tutor and experienced what we do, you can go onto the portal and choose what you'd like to do for Lesson 5 or Week 3. At that point, you can press the stop button and nothing further happens, or you can choose between the $70, $80, and $90 plans."

He also mentioned:
"You can adjust the schedule—if you want to drop back to one lesson a week or alternate weeks, that’s possible too. Just be aware that if no selection is made, it will default to our standard $90 plan. This setup allows you to cancel at any point with two weeks’ notice."

Based on this, the terms were clearly communicated and acknowledged, so we’re unable to approve a refund.

Heres the thing….. i don’t recall being told i had to do this within hrs of the first lesson and i requested to have that part of the recording of our conversation emailed to me due to very much not having understood the time line as straight away but rather by the end of the trial/before “week 3 or lesson 5”. Obviously i haven’t had any communication back and these people truly don’t care that i desperately needed that money in my account for our food top up for my kids lunches and dinners before payday NOT a completely un budgeted for payment of $90. I fully intended to participate in the cheaper bulk sessions package with my sons father and my parents offering to chip in to make that financially possible if we thought it was worth it. I hadn’t even had a chance to talk to them so honestly couldn’t believe that i was already being charged for the 5 lesson. Can’t really call it a trial period if it’s decision that second or charged maximum cost! And then be all slimy at refusing to refund the money. Unfortunately given the terrible customer service for such an expensive service i will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.
Definitely do mot recommend the business/sales/customer service team of things….. don’t do it! Look around, i will be.

Poorly matched tutors

Was assured my daughter would be matched with a tutor who was an expert in the subject in which she required support. Tutoring session lasted less than 15 minutes as he didn't understand the topic. Was then allocated another tutor whose profile said she was an experienced tutor for primary students and early secondary students. My daughter is in year 12, so clearly not an appropriate match. Very disappointing.

Tailored Teaching: How This English Tutoring Class Made a Difference

Outstanding English Tutoring Experience! I am incredibly pleased with the English tutoring class my son has been attending. The tutor is knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about teaching, creating an encouraging learning environment that has boosted my son’s confidence in his English skills.

Since joining the class, I’ve seen noticeable improvements in his reading comprehension, writing structure, and overall communication abilities. The lessons are well-structured and tailored to his individual needs, making learning both engaging and effective.

I highly recommend this tutoring service to any parent looking for a supportive and results-driven English program. It has made a real difference in my son's academic progress!

If I can, I will give zero star

If I can give zero star, I would. Is my worst ever experience. Nothing works. Can't even talk to a real human when help is needed the most. Cluey will call you when they want to. But we do not have the option to talk to a human when we need to. Zero flexibility. Promised the world but can't deliver. After just 1 trial class in Maths, my child had such bad experiences in the technology and I decided not to try the English lessons since it is using the same learning platform. Cluey refused to refund the trial class for English that hasn't started. For classes to be reschedule, it only allow rescheduling within the next 7 days. There is no option to reschedule beyond that. I totally regretted trying Cluey.
