I paid for the pack and unpack service which was haphazardly done. Did not arrive to pack until the day the truck came to load my things. That started the rush to pack boxes most boxes just had items (like dresser drawers) just dumped in the boxes then topped off with a piece of packing paper. Carlos was trying his best to keep his helpers working properly. Then he said he was starting the drive to my new home in Florida as soon as they finished packing the moving truck. Which changed my plans to ride down in my car (instead of having it shipped) I had to receive the truck and sign before they could unload. So I paid for an airline ticket (and a $125.00 charge for my dog to fly). As you can guess it was quite chaotic. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you a good review overall…but I do want to praise Carlos..he was kind and considerate to me.

The three men who packed, loaded and unloaded and delivered. Christian, Julio and especially Carlos who finished the job in Tennessee without help. They get a 10 out of 10. Anthony Darden and Armonie Adams who sold me and kept me informed as to where we stood get a big thumbs up from this old man.

Colonial Van Lines did an amazing job with my move from Tennessee to Florida. I highly recommend them.

The driver Wes was exceptional! He was a roll model for hard work and staying focused. He was very skilled in assisting packers with everything from fine China to heavy furniture.

The initial order went smoothly and information provided was accurate. I wish that actual pickup date could have been provided with more than 48 hours notice. The load went smoothly and the team was careful with our belongings. They arrived at the destination on time and the team worked with our delivery requirements. There was very minimal breakage. The Colonial customer service team checked in to ensure everything was going well. Bottom line is that I would recommend Colonial and I would use them again.

This is such a professional company. From start to finish, it was a seamless process and they stayed in constant communication. My movers could not have done a better job wrapping and protecting my furniture. Everything arrived with no damage (from MS to GA) and they completed both move-out and move-in in a timely manner. Outstanding!

Worst experience. Furniture delivered almost 1 month late. But not before being told everything was in storage in NV & to get it out would cost 5k! Almost had a heart attack then talking to rep, found out it's a form email. Damage and lost articles. Insurance was a joke; READ THE FINE PRINT!!

NIGHTMARE! There are too many other moving options out there to risk going through what I went through. First, Colonial doesn’t tell you that they will subcontract your move out, so you don’t know who you’re dealing with until AFTER you sign the contract. The driver/moving company I got was unprofessional and threatening. Driver tried to add additional fees and make me overpay, plus sign blank forms. Complained to Colonial, and the subcontractor’s response to my complaint was to hold my load hostage and not delivery it in a timely manner. Colonial could never tell me where my load actually was. The contract had a very generous 5-day delivery window even though the distance was only a 10 HOUR drive. I finally got my load 10 DAYS later. Colonial’s system overestimates the weight, and they never produced any weight tickets. Spent over $2,000 in additional expenses waiting for the delivery. Load was finally delivered by a 3rd moving company. Customer service at Colonial was useless and after months the company continues to refuse to properly compensate me for all the threats, violations, additional time, expense, and stress I had to deal with. Filed formal complaint with the BBB and D.O.T. Again, too many other moving options out there to risk it.

From beginning to end of our move Colonial (and their contract company Blue Crab), was up front about costs, plans, what they could or couldn’t do, who would be doing it, and timing. They had 3 different people dedicated to checking the volume/weight of the load, checking the changes just before as that would affect the estimate, updating and confirming the arrival times at both ends. After the load was delivered they called to make sure nothing needed further follow up. We had no damage. The crew at both ends packed and unpacked steadily and carefully. The two who unloaded included Alexy and William. They spent 5 hours unloading and carrying furniture up stairs as needed after driving for 8 hours. Priscilla and they stayed in touch with me about arrival time. The only thing that was a surprise was they changed and repacked the truck before they departed. However, no harm done. Helps to have wrapped everything in blankets and taped them tight. The quote and weight estimate was very close to actual final weight and price. We paid an additional 71$ for overage. Load was picked up on Saturday and delivered the next day 500+ miles away. Kudos to the team and thank you to Colonial and Blue Crab movers. Julia

They picked up when they scheduled the pickup and wrapped and bar coded everything for an inventory. They delivered when they said and everything went very smooth.

I was very impressed with movers Eric and Jullian with K&J Movers in Albuquerque who were in charge of my move from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Raleigh, NC.
Professional, kind, meticulous and caring from start to finish! Many thanks to them!!
Colonial is a highly rated Van Lines for good reason. The only glitch in the process for me was too many texts, emails, etc. from various people on the "team". I had thought that I had my one contact, Brittany, throughout the process. Apart from the opening conversations and contracts I never spoke with her again but rather with a variety of "team members" following up on different aspects of the move. I finally just stopped replying . In spite of that the move was fine, my household arrived as hoped, and in a timely fashion. However I did attribute that to the local movers from New Mexico more than the corporate overseers along the way. I think my best compliment to Colonial is that they vet and supply top notch movers to execute their moves.

This company practices extortion and damages your personal items. Priceless antiques destroyed. I would never hire them again. They're locked in rate of 33 hundred dollars turned into 66 hundred dollars on delivery . Do not trust Colonial.

We wish to provide a description of the very negative and unsatisfactory experience we had with Colonial Van Lines associated with our long distance relocation. We hope this information will be help others select a more reputable and professional moving company.
Our issues with Colonial Van Lines included, but were not limited to; inadequate staffing for weight and size of the items to moved, not providing a reasonable level of care in the handling our belongings, a very serious language barrier (including the fact one of them was unable to speak or understand the English language at all), and a complete disregard for instructions given them. These were among the problems that resulted in the significant damage done to our possessions as well as our new home.
An independent adjuster and furniture restoration professional hired directly by Baker International Insurance Company appraised the cost to repair the damage done to our furniture at a value of $11,212 (Eleven Thousand Two Hundred and Twelve dollars.) This does not include the damage done to the walls of our new home. We wish to stress that this damage was completely avoidable and a direct result of the gross negligence of the Colonial Van Lines hired personnel which we observed first hand.
When we contracted with Colonial Van Lines for a long distance move of our household belongings, the company employees we dealt with over the phone prior to the move seemed very professional competent and knowledgeable; however, these individuals, and the individuals that the company hires to actually effect the move could not be more different. It is clear to us now that the company presents a thin superficial façade of professionalism to obtain the contract and then sends low skilled and either unqualified or marginally qualified individuals to actually effect the move. This places the homeowner in the inescapable bind that Colonial Van Lines counts on, and which we believe is part of their business model. When these movers arrive at the home, there is no practical method to turn them away no matter how incompetent and unskilled they are, as all the homeowners’ plans and events hinging on that moving date have already been set in motion.

Colonial van lines sent a group of 3 people to pick my belongings up on September 30th. I was advised the delivery window would be Oct 2-10 but the woman, Yuliya, who was there with the 2 male movers told me her husband was driving the 18 wheeler & assured me our delivery would come on the 3rd or 4th. After the movers completed partial packing & loading the truck, another assurance for the said delivery date & they left. When my husband got home, we loaded the car with our suitcases & dogs then cleared out the empty boxes we didn’t use in the garage. Behind the boxes, there I found one of my mirrors busted, facing the wall, hidden. I contacted Yuliya & told her this was unprofessional & I was upset because they should’ve said something. She then proceeds to call me multiple times, which I ignore & text saying I won’t have any undocumented conversation now because the trust has been broken and I was upset. It is now the 6th and our stuff is not here. I contacted colonial several times over the course of 2 days with no call back. Finally I spoke with someone & they said they’d contact dispatch. Dispatch stated they are STILL in Texas & haven’t even left for Indiana yet. I feel this was intentional due to me calling Yuliya out on her unprofessionalism. The company hasn’t offed to make anything right regarding the broken mirror. I’m worried our things are being mistreated; perhaps even gone thru & stolen. I will never use another moving company. This is by far the most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. It takes 1-2 days to drive to Indiana & they’re still sitting in Texas. Hard to get ahold of & no compassion at all. I recommend doing it yourself or finding a different company. This is NOT okay.

Initial communication was great! The move itself went well, and the movers were very helpful and respectful. When my account was sent to scheduling there was a small breakdown in communication, but overall things went well.

Anthony and his crews on both ends were phenomenal! Professionals in every sense!
