Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 297 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported significant issues with delivery service, including lost parcels and extreme delays, often exceeding estimated times. People frequently experienced poor customer service, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to reach a human. Reviewers also noted problems with staff, citing instances of rudeness, incompetence, and parcels not being delivered as expected, with tracking often inaccurate. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with specific local post office staff who were helpful and provided good advice. A few other people also felt that the delivery service was reliable, especially for international parcels, and found local services to be satisfactory.

My package containing glass was thrown…

My package containing glass was thrown over our fence which is almost 3m high into an unsafe area, this caused it to become damaged by being run over. Delivery driver was clearly careless and chose to throw the package rather then place it in a safe area.

Spent $100 posting a gift to the USA on…

Spent $100 posting a gift to the USA on the 10th April. Parcel should of arrived between 5-9 days. The tracking shows the parcel left sunshine coast next day for Brisbane and then sat in Brisbane for 14 days. It now shows day 15 it has finally been transferred for a flight. Who knows when it will actually get to its destination. But definitely not within the 9 days and way too late now for the birthday surprise gift I had planned.
How can a company get away with charging for a service that is not provided in the timeframe they quote. Especially when that timeframe is written on their website. Any other company would have fair trading on their case with a please explain.

They will turn you into a Karen when trying to get answers. Absolute classic today. Was reading my senders inquiry with his headset on then said he can not access the inquiry. I called Patrick a lier & was hung up on. Ombudsman will appreciate your patience. Don’t waste your time, unless you like narcissistic responses with no accountability.

It's a wonderful customer service experience every time I go there to send a package...I've sent just over 300 items in the last year from there and the staff do their very best to give me the best price and advise me on the fastest options re delivery dates. I love them!!

Delivered to the wrong address…. whoops

Delivered my medication to the wrong address and then said there is nothing they could do nothing about it. Delivery drivers that literally can’t read the letters and numbers and “support” staff that just try to fob you off. These guys are next level incompetent.

The delivery system isn't working

The delivery system is a huge problem. Even after I told the driver over the intercom, just leave it downstairs, he said, "I can't do that." [update: this is even though my instructions to couriers are printed on the label, and even though the label has "AUTHORITY TO LEAVE" from the sender, so BOTH parties have given the same instructions.] I have filed a complaint with Australia Post and they basically just said "oh sorry" and that they will take it up with the manager of the driver. However, the driver still told me his manager said, you can't leave packages at that address, while the complaints system says it is up to the driver.

The worst delivery service

The worst delivery service in Australia. I received a notification that my parcel would be delivered today, without any time range (as other delivery services provide), which has forced me to stay at home all day, waiting for the parcel. It is now 4pm and I have yet to receive my parcel, which according to them, is scheduled to be delivered 'today'. I urge merchants to avoid AP where possible, and choose other delivery services.

Urgent medication used like Pass the parcel, they should be liable.

1 star only because it eventually gets delivered after several delays. Several of my pharmaceutical orders for medical needs for a MEDICAL CONDITION with paid express insured postage get shipped around in, out and around States and delayed SEVERAL times. I pay extra for nothing!? What should be at least delivered in 2-3 Days, if not even 7 turns into over a week! You would think medical needs would be prioritised when people rely on delivery to manage health conditions. Parcels seem to not be consistently scanned either, and update in random locations? Lazy staff! Poor and rude customer service as well.

Absolutly useless

Absolutly useless. Any time I order anything that is sent to me via Australia post they either don't deliver it and take it to the post office or the one time they did they left it hidden under the wheel of a random ute that then ran over it. Was at home all day waiting on heavy furniture to be delivered and they sent a photo of my front gate saying attempted delivery. The intercom was clear in the photo. The intercom they did not use to attempt to tell me they were here while I waited mere meters away with no idea. Absolutly useless. Called their number and waited for over 30 minutes to be told they could ask for another delivery attempt to be made in the next week or to go get the over 20kg item myself from the post office. The item doesn't fit in my car and if I am not home when they attempt delivery or if they don't use the intercom again they will take it to the post office anyway. When I asked if they would cover the cost of paying someone to collect it from the post office for me they refused and said they take no liability for extra costs.

Website Experience Worse By The Day

Just renewed my P.O. Box and found that there are multiple unwanted "features" added that I don't want. The site says go to (my account link) to update the features etc. It is literally a dysfunctional maze - first add the P.O. Box (that I have had for nearly a decade) to my account, then link the very same P.O. Box then upload my "Digital I.D." - which one - to be able to edit or update any of the options. It also seems to have now set this P.O. Box as automatic for ALL my mail - which was not what was required or requested. The actual delivery service is still sporadic but not becoming worse - the website and digital offerings are a horrendous mess. And it's not like the support is simple and actually offers help - it's one of the worst chatbots ever that will eventually (maybe) rout you through to a human who says that they're the wrong department. When you ask what department they actually are, the conversation ends and you're back with the bot/non-working website. Also, who trusts Australia Posts' cyber-security enough to upload their Digital ID there?

Item posted on the 27th January 2026…

Item posted on the 27th January 2026 and has been stuck in a loop and bouncing between around 20 sorting facility's for the last 65 days, I have raised six inquires for the parcel to be intercepted and the label to be checked and see why it was not proceeding to destination...
I was advised to try and redirect it as that would force it to be removed from the line and a new label placed on it, this did not work...
I was given a manager which I was told would call within 48 hours, They did call but unfortunately they decided to do the one ring and hang up
trick (I had the phone in my hand looking at it when they called and still could not answer in time) and then proceed to send me a email stating they had tried
to call me multiple time but I didn't answer(They called twice as per my phone log) and then stated it should be there by 30th March but if it doesn't turn up
by the 15th April give them a call and they will look into it ..
The parcels can not be listed as missing so I can get a refund as every time it is scanned at a facility it updates the date to a new date, my first due date was
the 4th February …
This is incompetence's at it's finest to go to around twenty sorting facility's all over Australia and have no one able to rectify the problems is mind boggling,
Australia post what a joke...Do Better...
Compensation should be offered to not only lost or damaged items but also to people that have spent hours on the phone repeating the same story over and over again and asking post offices if they could help and time refreshing apps to see where in Australia the item is going to turn up today ...
Item turned up on the 31th March to the original address so they didn't even get the redirection right ...

Apalling customer service.

Appalling customer service and lack of accountability. On two occasions in the past few months, delivery was attempted without any notification card being left. The only correspondence I received was an “Urgent Reminder,” by which point the parcel was already being returned to the sender - giving me no chance to collect it.

I also have the app installed, but the parcel wasn’t registered, so I received no digital notifications either. Customer service was unhelpful and did not offer a solution.

As a result, I now have to contact the sender to arrange redelivery and wait even longer for the parcel to arrive - if it arrives at all.

I recommend avoiding for a positive customer experience

I recommend avoiding for a positive customer experience.

Please be aware that under the banner of a new environmental initiative Australia Post no longer leave missed parcel notifications. It is now the recipients responsibility to monitor the parcel delivery via the app or website.

It is my experience that Australia Post:
- rarely, if ever, use the doorbell
- seldom knock
- often leave parcels at the frontdoor facing the street even when there is a secure and well signed parcel box
-practice is now to return the parcel to a local post office without leaving notification of a missed delivery.
