While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

Contra's Customer Support team is incredible.
Recently had a client interaction where there was unauthorized charge on an account being used where our company card was connected. The account access was provided to review status rather than make any payments. This poor interaction led to me not continuing working with a client.
They needed me to send them another contract for work but I decided not to. Even though we did everything we needed to do in our scope of work, after it was over, they decided to go back to the job in Contra and leave a bad review when we decided not to send them a second contract.
I had fulfill all responsibilities agreed upon in our contract and even took the unauthorized card payment charge without asking for the money back. All I wanted to was moving onto the next client. While this was hanging over my head, Contra was actually the one that reached out because of the anomaly (1 star) relative to recent reviews (all 5 stars).
A meeting was scheduled, and thankfully I had documented everything that happened and sent over the evidence. They promptly removed the review. They are not allowed to act as a judge but in this instance since there was clear evidence of a client going against the contract agreement provided, things were cleared up quickly.
Cannot express how thankful I am to be able to work with a platform that genuinely cares about their professionals. About to get the 25k badge on Contra and will definitely be continuing to stay. Huge shoutout to Isabel.
Significantly better than anything else out there. Cannot say enough good things about their platform already, but this experience truly stood out.
Contra has been a key part of Studio Duo's growth. It simplifies managing clients, sending contracts, and ensuring seamless payments, all while offering a smooth and hassle-free experience. As an agency, we've significantly increased our earnings thanks to Contra's ability to connect us with high-quality clients.
I use contra everyday and it's easy to use and also supports integrating our domain to the portfolio section.
Setting up profile is also seamless and very straighforward.
The amazing team behind Contra, especially Madi and Nia, consistently provides quick and reliable support. Contra is the perfect platform for agencies and studios looking to scale efficiently!
Contra has been a total game-changer for me as a freelancer. The platform is clean, intuitive, and actually built with independents in mind, not just another marketplace race to the bottom. I’ve had great experiences finding quality clients, and the support team has always been responsive when I had questions.
It’s a shame to see recent reviews that don’t reflect the actual value Contra brings to the table. Like any platform, it’s what you make of it, but in my case, it’s helped me grow my business and land opportunities that align with my skills effortlessly.
If you’re serious about building a freelance career without the usual headaches, Contra is one of the best options out there.
And from a freelancer to another freelancer, building dreams takes time. Contra won't magically give you a client, do your best to be the best of best!
I recently signed up to Contra expecting for the first time on a monthly plan, only to be charged for an annual subscription instead. When I reached out to customer services for support, I was told I’d receive my refund once I cancelled my current plan. Despite following these instructions, and informing them of this I still haven’t seen any resolution. This experience raises concerns about the clarity of the platform’s billing practices and the effectiveness of its customer support. I hope Contra takes swift action to address these issues and ensures a more transparent and responsive process for future users. I’m very disappointed tbh

Wasn't able to see the type of work on offer for job applicants before signing up. So I started to sign up but gave up when asked to complete a profile and pay requirements. I sensed a lack of transparency and useless, time-consuming onboarding process. Why would anyone want to invest time on a quality profile with NO IDEA what the company is looking for in their job applicants nor what they are offering (type of job openings).

I spent a few hours putting in all my info which was most of the time redundant. Only to find out that to actually apply on jobs, I either have to pay Contra or wait 6 weeks. Pathetic. Could have let us know earlier. Wasted so many hours I could've put into something else.

I worked with a freelancer who did not deliver on the project but charged me for the full price. He sent a weekly contract stating its just something procedural and he is not capable to send anything else - unfortunately I fell for that, and he did not bother to complete the project.
Despite explaining the case to Contra.com and sending an official dispute - they said that the money was already transferred to the freelancer and there's nothing they can do so.. They are not taking responsibility for this.
Beware - This is an uncontrolled marketplace with zero care for customer - I will not work with them again.

Contra is a suboptimal web app that I left using quite a while ago. I’m no longer interested but still disappointed that the platform has massive wait times to register and become a freelancer on the platform with a lack of transparency regarding application acceptance.
I am a Full Stack developer here in Canada and I am more than qualified to at least be on a job board which should be a basic feature without a pay wall or strict requirements.
Good luck to your platform.

Don't waste your time filling the endless information that is required if you're not paying cause you will not be able to use the platform without paying. I've spent hours setting up my profile and portfolio, spent a month in a "waitlist" just to be informed that "my profile does not meet the requirements to access the Contra Job Feed". It's just another data farming.

It says it can accommodate payments in stablecoin. Okay. I was still on the prep session getting all my work samples uploaded and even had to devise *two* services only to clear the requirements to get exposure to the gigs.
The last one hurdle is they want a custom video of me yet explaining what I do and who I am and all these millennial stuff AND it has to be on Loom?
Why assume everyone has a Loom, or wants to sign up with yet another website only for this purpose? Why even WASTE MORE TIME signing up? How many hours do you want to deprive every new user of with all this nonsense? I already uploaded my national ID, with decades of work experience, if that's not enough for verification then the problem is obviously not me. This is not "work the way I want" as it becomes clear the platform is just as frustrating as the others that are already saturated with cheap clients. If it weren't for the usdc payment option this would've been a 1-star.
I'm ticking the box below to "let them know about my review" and I will log in to my dashboard again in a couple days, see if anybody actually reads this stuff and get rid of the bs protocol. Probably not. Maybe I'll be surprised.
