BAD REVIEWS ARE MANY........

look at the total of bad reviews,,,all the other than 5 stars. if you wire your home with control 4, you are basically stuck for life. I've tried to find a way to revert back to standard lighting, tv, stereo. it just can't be done without tearing out all walls. JUST DONT DO IT.
I have no living room tv and must wait for 2 weeks for a "scheduled visit"

Don't get Sold a Bill of Goods. Control4 STINKS!

I read the reviews of the people who gave Control4 only one star. I have been a customer using their products for 20 years. They are by far the worst. Every review is the same, poor quality products, rotten or no customer support, and over-priced. Oh, did I mention unreliable? They care about the initial sale and that's it. And, all the complaints I read had the same formatted response from Control4. I expected to see a few people write additional comments following a response from Control4. There were NONE! I hope others read the same honest reviews as mine and others.

A supposedly ‘commercial grade’…

A supposedly ‘commercial grade’ reliable system. Haha. Very expensive and absolutely useless. I now call it “ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL 4” It fails constantly so you never know if the TV/AV will work when you turn it on. Worse still for me is that it runs the network here in a big house and when that’s compromised the security and lighting systems are affected. Worse than that, I cannot access the Control 4 system myself. Only the installers can do that. I asked to be given the ability to do that eg to check what’s going wrong and fix it myself as I’m technically minded, and they said I’d have to take out a special Control 4 license to do that which costs £10,000. It’s the most expensive system I’ve ever had and by far the worst. Netgear routers and wifi extenders with Harmony remotes for TV/AV were old fashioned but at least they worked and if something went wrong I could at least get into the system and find out what was wrong and fix it. The Network is down again tonight and I’m relying on 4G so I’m livid with Control 4. DON’T BE FOOLED INTO GETTING THIS RUBBISH SYSTEM. AND WHAT A RIP OFF TO CHARGE £10,000 FOR A LICENSE TO CONTROL IT !!! It’s after midnight and I can’t call the installers. Useless system.

SINCE I POSTED THIS REVIEW CONTROL 4 POSTED A STANDARD RESPONSE IDENTICAL TO ALL THE OTHERS SO WATCH THIS SPACE FOR WHAT THEY DO SINCE I REAPONDED TO THEIR LINK SO IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE IF THEY FOLLOW THROUGH ON THEIR APPARENT WILLINGNESS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES I’M HAVING

Non Intuitive

This system is not easy to run. It's not intuitive. I read instructions on how to integrate Spotify and other streaming services, and the icons supposedly to be used don't show up. I use plenty of software and listen to a boatload of music, and I really dislike this system.

Good in Theory, but just doesn't work properly

Was 'upsold' Control 4 by a Control 4 dealer when seeking quotes to have rewired.
Demo system in another house we saw looked fantastic, but unfortunately whilst we like the idea and the functionality we have had nothing but problems with Control 4 since we installed it. Problems we continue to experience include:

1) Not being told until after installation had started that the ipad style panels they were installing were subject to a product recall. Told replacements would be in situ no later than 31 August 2021. Almost 10 months later no sign of them;
2) Regularly switches not doing anything when you press them, and/or inordinate delay between hitting a button and anything happening;
3) speakers regularly not working;
4) Lights coming on randomly when no switches pressed.

whether the faults are due to the dealer who installed, or the system, I don't know but frankly the system just doesn't work properly, and represents a poor product.

Control 4 customer service is poor. When you email them they reply saying they will contact the dealer, and then you hear nothing from either control 4 or the dealer.

As designed/installed it seems to be a system designed so that you have to have electricians round repairing the system every 3-4 weeks.

I've only given 2 stars because we like the engraved light switches, but we have reluctantly had to decide to remove this system after a year as our 6 year old is terrified by the random lights that come on during the middle of the night.

Having spoken to a number of electricians, the consensus seems to be if you want a smart home electrical system you ought not to install Control 4 as too many customers have similar problems to those that we have experienced

Nothing but problems with these products, keep shopping somewhere else..!Recently moved into a new house less…

Recently moved into a new house less than 5 years old, was looking to build up the current home audio/video & automation features of the house. The house was currently using Control4 equipment so upon the advice of the tech that sells & installs the systems, we continued to use Control4 equipment..what a mistake!! Over the past 2 years, I have had to replace almost every single piece of hardware that came with the house, as one by one troubles & failures with the pieces became evident..I have spent thousands of dollars on the system and have had nothing but trouble, now my central audio system has quit and have learned that it is another expensive component that has failed, and without it, the rest of the audio features is useless. What crap!,..For anyone out there considering getting a Control4 system for your home, keep shopping, or be prepared to waste your time & money on their products..!

Some good things about it

Some good things about it, but it is not dependable. Every few weeks things will not turn on or not turn off. Very frustrating to have to sleep with the bedroom lights on.

The product lacks the smooth user…

The product lacks the smooth user interface/experience found in Savant, but it has a much wider variety of drivers available for integration. I hope the team will create a more seamless user experience like found in Savant OS.

Problems not resolved

Had problems with Universal controls for our 4 TVs liked to Wyrestorm matrix. Engineer suggested we purchase Control4 remotes as they are more capable of integrating with other systems. Engineer integrated system, worked ok for 24hrs but now very little use at all - newest Panasonic not registering anything, others (Samsung) may get one Sky box and not the other, may get Apple TV - or not!!! At least the Universal remotes were working all boxes and Apple TV.

UI is not as quick or intuitive as…

UI is not as quick or intuitive as remote control from the tv or cable box. I end up having to use those controls as well as the control4. The MoIP Binary setup adds a delay to the comands and response time. I just got the system so will give it more time to play around with it.

Reasonably happy

The System is setting down now. Much more stable. What I really would like is the ability to make changes or add myself, rather than having to contact the installer. i.e. the blinds come down at 3pm each day. What about if I wanted to make it 3.15pm instead. That should be an easy change, but I have to do this via the installer.

What I would really love is some online tutorials or zoom training etc so that we could be educated.

New Control4 system

We are still learning all the capabilities of our new system, but are very happy so far. Jimmy of JW Automations has just been the best...helping us through our learning curve, supply chain issues and generally just being on call and genuinely demonstrating a true caring of our happiness with the system and ability to use all its capabilities our enhance our entertainment, efficiency and convenience.

The worst system I have ever experienced

This Control4 system was in my home when I moved in and it has failed regularly. The installers refused to return so I contacted another C4 agent. He has attended the system for the past 2 years as one component after another failed and was "upgraded" to the new protocol.
The audio panel failed, the camera failed, the video distribution failed, one of the 3 wall touch pads failed, the theater controller failed etc etc.
It is without doubt the most useless and unreliable system I have seen in my life!
As soon as I can find a replacement system the better.
