Our Heartfelt Thanks to Co-op Funeralcare, Shipley
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at Co-op Funeralcare, Shipley, for their exceptional care, support and professionalism during our mother’s funeral in January and, more recently, our father’s funeral in August.
The level of care, attention to detail and professionalism shown by the whole team was truly remarkable from start to finish. In particular, Lauren & Ebony went above and beyond, providing outstanding support and guidance at every stage. Her kindness, compassion and attention to detail meant a great deal to our family during an incredibly difficult time.
The whole team ensured that we were kept informed every step of the way, while offering reassurance, comfort and genuine compassion throughout the process. You helped transform what were two incredibly sorrowful occasions into beautifully organised and dignified farewells for both our mother and father.
Having sadly had to use your services twice within such a short period of time, we cannot thank you enough for the care and support you showed our family on both occasions. Your kindness and professionalism will always be remembered and very much appreciated.
With our warmest regards and heartfelt thanks from the family of the late Thelma & Peter Sanderson.
Thank you all for everything you did for us.

My experience with Carrie was excellent. She was friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable and listened.

Very easy to set the plan up and the co-ordinator explained the options and what was included in each one. There was an offer of £50 off the plan we wanted plus another £50 for being Co-op members so that was a good saving. Peace of mind now that we have the plans in place as it does make it easier at a difficult time.

When our eldest son, Chris, died unexpectedly, we chose Co-op Funeral care. They could not have done more for us, or Chris. Colin, the gentleman we mainly dealt with was all the things we needed at that awful time. The staff all were respectful, considerate and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, they've been in the business for so many years and know all the ins and outs. Thank you for making a very painful time a little easier.

I had a very good experience with Vicki in Downend, Bristol. Every member of staff I spoke to was so kind and respectful of my Dad.

We used the Thorne branch for our mum Pauline Woods final journey and we could never put into words how supportive Aaron and Vicky were or show enough appreciation for everything, they listened and went
above and beyond to make sure every little detail was covered to make our mums last farewell amazing if I could give them 100 stars then I would I will never be able to thank them enough for what they did for us everything was perfect for my mum🥰

Overall, I was satisfied with much of the service we received from Co-op Funeralcare in Loughton, but there is one significant issue that has left me extremely disappointed.
My mum had specifically requested to be embalmed as part of her final wishes, and she had paid for embalming within her funeral plan. Despite this, I was contacted on the last working day before her funeral and told that they had not arranged for her to be embalmed in time.
I find it incredibly upsetting that something my mum had expressly requested, planned and paid for was simply not carried out. By the time I was informed, there was effectively nothing I could do to rectify the situation.
When I visited my mum at the funeral home, she did not look like herself. Of course I understand that death itself changes a person’s appearance, but I also have to live with the knowledge that the preparation she specifically wanted had not been carried out.
What makes this worse is the way the situation was handled afterwards. I asked what Co-op Funeralcare intended to do to compensate for the failure to provide a service that had been paid for. I was told someone would get back to me. Three months later, nobody has contacted me about it and it appears to have simply been forgotten.
Losing a parent is difficult enough without having to check that their funeral provider has actually carried out the wishes they entrusted them with.
I genuinely hope my mum would understand that I did everything within my power to respect her final wishes. Unfortunately, in this instance, the funeral provider she trusted and paid did not.
While there were many aspects of the service from the Loughton branch that I was happy with, I would advise other families using a prepaid funeral plan to check well in advance of the funeral that every requested and paid-for service has actually been arranged. You should not have to do this, but sadly my experience suggests that you do.
Everything went very smoothly, good explanation, very easy to understand

Huge thanks to Zoe at Sutton-in-Ashfield branch. She has been so caring and attentive to our family’s needs and overall reassuring to our family’s extremely difficult situation leading up to the funeral. Also, a huge thank you to Savannah, who on the funeral day led it with such dignity and had time to sit and chat with family. We cannot thank you enough as to how grateful we are.

The service of providing a basic funeral package over the phone was quick, simple to understand & did not involve any pressure to purchase extras. Though I am sure that will come later. The 2 call handlers were clear possibly a little bit loud and concise.

Helen came to the Polegate branch to arrange a pre-payment funeral for my auntie. We were greeted on arrival by friendly cheerful faces and offered a drink. Helen was clear and professional throughout our meeting and explained everything thoroughly. We would highly recommend them. Thank you.

Absolutely terrible! Our Mother passed and the Coop Funeralcare in England were booked. She had left money in her estate and did not want family members to have to pay. We were not informed that you have to pay upfront for this but later on we were then told that the cremation could not go ahead until full payment was received . Staff need better training to make sure they inform people upfront. Our Mother passed at end of July. She was shipped off to a crematorium in Havant and they then refused to go ahead with cremation till they got our money. It’s a disgusting way to treat the dead. No empathy, no customer service! Also they don’t reply to many emails. Our solicitor got the bank to transfer money from her estate in the end. We would have paid by credit card if we were informed in the beginning.
The one star is for the quick collection from the care home and the lovely lady at the Wendover branch who tried to help. Avoid going to them for a direct cremation unless you are willing to have to pay upfront.
My dog had a better send off than my poor Mother has had. It’s been a terrible, stressful and upsetting experience. Nothing like their adverts!
Very easy to do online. Easy to understand the terms and conditions. Clear information about the process.
Liked that a copy of the Plan is sent to your designated person.
As advertised, the Direct Cremation Plan was sent to me within the stated timescale and all details are correct. The information pack is good and answers all the questions I have.
I chose to go with the Co-Op, as I am a Member but also know that I received good service with the Co-Op in managing the funerals of parents and friends. Importantly, I trust that the Co-Op, as an organisation, is big enough and secure enough financially, that no matter when I die, my relatives will have no problems, either financially or practically, with all the hassle that comes with a death.
Good price for a Direct Cremation.
Highly recommend.
Highly recommend.

Arranged my funeral plan online, only took a few minutes. So easy and much cheaper than other funeral plans I looked at. Paying in instalments over 12 months makes it very affordable. Also, I like that with the Co-op, it’s local.

The process of buying the funeral plan was strsightforward. Obviously I have not tested the product out yet, but hopefully that will be many years ahead! However my mother had a plan bought 15 years ago and when we had to use it last year everything went smoothly.
