I didn't have a bad experience over all, but it was disappointing in the end, resulting in my request to cancel my membership.
For the past 6 months, they have been taking $9.95 out of my account and sending me emails with eGiftcards for a website called ShopFuzz.com. Every time I got the monthly email, it would list all the eGift cards with a balance of $99 on each one and a note on each one saying there had been no activity on it. Not one of them said anything about an expiry date, and neither did my emails.
To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with that site's selection of products, and I found things to be incredibly overpriced. ($29 for a pillow cover and $39 for a mini backpack???) so I asked my daughter to take a look through to see if there was anything she might have wanted for her children or herself. It was a hectic summer, and neither of us really had a chance to sit down and send an order, but last weekend, as I was looking through my email, the couponpilots email was there, showing a total of 7 giftcards at $99 each, so I thought I should use them up. We finally had a chance to look at things together and made up a list that was close to $400. It didn't total all of the cards, but at least it would use up some of them.
AS I entered the first gift card number, it showed that I was only getting $77 applied to my order. I tried entering another gift card, and apparently, that site only allows one gift card per order, as the number for the first card disappeared and I got a message saying that the second card number was invalid and I needed to check it. I had copied and pasted from my email, so I knew I had not entered it incorrectly. I tried entering the next 4 card numbers from my email, and they all came up as invalid as well. I tried the final number from my email, and it worked, but, again, I was only being given $77 credit for the $99 gift card.
I contacted both CouponPilots and ShopFuzz. There was nothing on the ShopFuzz site that said it only allowed one gift card per order. If they did allow only one card per order, then I would have to break up the order to use up all the cards, and shipping charges on each order was $56. I would basically be paying over $300 for shipping to use up all my gift cards, and on top of that, would be receiving $154 less than the face value. I still have not heard back from ShopFuzz, but CouponPilots did respond within a couple of days.
Unfortunately, they did not have good news for me. Apparently, I only actually have 1 valid gift card for $99, as all the previous ones had expired. They say that the first number I entered should have showed as expired also, and the fact that I was able to enter that number without a problem was probably a computer glitch. I only had one month to use each card up, even though there was absolutely nothing in my email to say that, and every email came with all gift cards showing a $99 balance.. They agreed to cancel my subscription and return the levies, but they didn't say if was the levies for all 7 gift cards, or for just the last one. They said if they do refund the levies, then the last giftcard will no longer be available to me. That's fair. If they are refunding me the $9,95, then I am not entitled to the product purchased, but still, it really does not seem fair that they have continued to take $9.95 from my account every month and then send a very misleading email that led me to believe I had all of these gift cards available to me when I didn't. I am just one person. Imagine how much money they make with other customers like me who might get too busy to check online for the monthly offer (which for months was just Cadbury chocolate bars) and then, when they do try to use what they have purchased, are told it was too late.
It was just very disappointing and expensive for me in the end, and I really wouldn't recommend this company to anyone else. In my experience, I only ever received 2 offers that were of any value in the couple of years or so that I have been a member.
