The worst experience of our entire life !

The worst experience of our entire life . Incompetent beyond belief. Ken and Diane were particularly useless.
We have used several conveyancers over the years but this company was a complete failure. Rude, refusing calls, deliberate delaying tactics. Above all they lied . They accused us of being aggressive when all we did is arrive at the office and stayed that we would wait until Diane was free. We did state we wouldn’t leave unless we spoke with her. Two days later (2 weeks before our exchange date and 2.5 weeks before Christmas they pulled out on us . Never in my life has this happened to us. The most unprofessional solicitors that we have come across. Their behaviour caused us 6 weeks in extra storage costs, which we should have sued them for and still may

We highly recommended it

My husband and I chose this law firm by recommendation, it was our best choice. From the very beginning, the contact was very good and questions were answered on the same day. Our case was handled with great commitment and dedication by Agnieszka Woloszyn-Clasby, who sometimes worked overtime to do everything on time.

We have used Ken Flooks at David Ebert on several occasions and have always been delighted with his speed, efficiency and communication. Highly recommended for anybody navigating the conveyancing minefield.

Highly Recommend David Ebert

We used David Ebert for both the sale of my property and the purchase of our new home. They were extremely professional and, despite the volume of work they are undertaking, they remained professional, timely and would highly recommend them if selling or buying. I want to thank both Aga and Ken for steering us through many problems and took away some of the pressure and stress of buying 😊

Excellent team

Excellent team. We work very well with them. They are very effective and accurate. We are very pleased with the cooperation with them. Aga and Ken have been absolutely fantastic and professional. We was able to trust them with confidence and they process the work. We will definitely use them again.

Turned out well in the end....

So having used this company for both my sale and onward purchase its only fair that I review both as they were very different experiences.

I made contact with via their website after receiving a glowing review of Ken from a friend that had recently bought their house through David Ebert, and as always you look to word of mouth and the opinions of your peers when researching things.

The sale of my flat and intended house purchase was tasked to a member of staff that shall remain nameless, however warning bells sounded when I received my sale pack through the post with incorrect address details amongst other things. When I received the correct paperwork this was promptly sent off and then we heard nothing, and still nothing, and some more nothing for quite some time prompting me to chase up how our side of things was going. All throughout the sale the service we received can only be described as flaky at best, and enquiries into our onward purchase were either going unanswered, or false information was given. Eventually our sale was completed and as our onward purchase was going through probate we moved in with family on the advice of 'nameless' leaving us to believe that our purchase would be completed fairly soon. I have to be honest when I say our experiences up to this point had left me feel regret that I chose David Ebert for my conveyancing.

As months went by with no updates and no response to my emails I called in January 2021 for some clear updates to be told to some surprise that the person dealing with my purchase had left the company and that their cases were now being dealt with by Sharmeen Quadri. Now genuinely this is where things took a turn for the better, after initial contact Sharmeen promised to call me back the next day, and she was true to her word, and she gave me a sympathetic ear whilst I explained my disappointment with the service received so far, and my eagerness to get our purchase over the line having some challenging living arrangements to contend with that would have been different if I had received the correct advice in the first place. Despite paying for the searches to be done some months ago this hadn't even been actioned by her predecessor and Sharmeen jumped straight on these and all was sorted in a couple of weeks.

With the impending stamp duty deadline on the horizon (before it was extended) I was desperate to complete and avoid that cost and Sharmeen absolutley delivered, always on point with emails and phonecalls, and chasing up any queries. Suffice to say she got us over the line on the 12th March well before the previous stamp duty deadline and its fair to say she restored my dwindling faith in this company.

Like I said previously I had two very different experiences, the sale period in 2020 was definitely a 1 or 2 star rating, but since Sharmeen came on board she's definitely been 5 star all the way. Its clear that this company may have had a few issues previously but if my experience is anything to go by they are well on track to turn this around, and I would recommend them to anyone considering using them for their conveyancing.

Waiting for months but I think they have sorted themselve out now

Sharmeen who took over from the person who left was very responsive and efficient. I would highly recommend her.

However this was nearly a 3 months wait with the last person who did nothing after my payment for searches, claiming the seller solicitor haven't sent her anything (estate agent even had to show me proof that the seller solicitor has done everything) and the senior responsible solicitor confirming everything was in order when I asked for a refund. I was only told by Sharmeen when she took over that nothing was done, adding another 3-4 weeks delay. I think this is probably an isolated incident so I am still going to give 4 stars.

This company appears to be getting back…

This company appears to be getting back on track.
We approached David Ebert in October for conveyancing services on 2 flats, after agreeing to terms and paying a deposit the service was extremely poor during November and December when the conveyancer left without notice. Since a new conveyancer (Sharmeen) took over in January activity and communication has dramatically improved and we completed our first purchase last week with the second purchase hopefully completing in the next fortnight.

Do not use David Ebert’s Hedge End!!

Do not use David Ebert’s Hedge End, Now known as Ackroyd Legal. We waited 6 months for our file to be looked at, nobody would answer our calls since Janet left , we found out our file was sent to the London branch & hasn’t been looked at since September last year. We have spent a fortune on multiple surveys due to Ackroyd Legals poor customer service they kept expiring. We sent 3 complaint emails including one to London & multiple phone calls with no response. We have had no option but to change solicitors. Avoid the stress & cost & go somewhere else. “Under David Ebert’s it was faultless service now under Ackroyd Legal I will never use them again”

Absolutely awful service

Absolutely awful service, started off positively then went downhill fast, now on my 4th solicitor, still waiting to complete purchase of flat 5 months on, they have merged with ackroyd legal, complained to david ebert and ackroyd legal, neither acknowledged my email, sadly would not recommend

Subpar Service

It saddens me to have to write this, but after sending a complaint via e-mail and post (both of which have gone unanswered), I feel as though I have to warn others to be careful when using this practice for residential conveyancing. There seem to be some shining stars in their conveyancing team as they came highly recommended by a number of family and friends, but my experience was anything but easy.

My partner and I used a conveyancer who started off great, but seemingly lost interest throughout the process. This resulted in us losing out on LISA bonuses and having to scrimp to get the funds together to exchange and complete on time. The whole process was unnecessarily stressful and downright frustrating. Once everything went through with our sale / purchase, we were under the impression we were to receive some funds back. This was not the case, and upon chasing we have uncovered that our conveyancer had used these funds towards our deposit without our approval. We also found out that this individual has upped and left the company the day after our completion date.

We have yet to receive any correspondence concerning our complaint, or the paperwork we have been waiting to receive associated with our property purchase.

We are disappointed with our experience, and are still left with a number of questions which we’re concerned will never be answered.

Do not use this company for your house move

We've never come across a firm that gives such poor service & doesn't seem to care about clients.

The actual staff member who was dealing with our move did her best under trying circumstances. To avoid postal issues we drove several times to Hedge End to hand deliver paperwork but this was never passed on & we would get an email asking us to return items that had been delivered days before. Telephone messages similarly didn't get passed on.

We've recently discovered that paperwork was not submitted correctly to land registry & we had to chase up to ensure that this was done. The staff member we dealt with has left, apparently feeling the same frustrations as we did, over the company attitude to it's clients & staff. Nobody bothered to keep an eye on her emails so queries from our purchasers solicitor just got ignored.

Did we get an apology? of course not.

The service received has been very unprofessional & certainly not what we expected for the money paid.

Highly Recommending Aga and Ken!

Considering it has been a rather challenging year for everyone, Aga and Ken have been absolutely fantastic and professional with conveyancing a house that I have purchased. Everything was done remotely via emails and post and Aga has been on the ball the whole time. No questions were too much bother for them. When I was asked of something from other parties, they had my interest at heart the whole time. I was able to trust them with confidence and they process the work quickly for me. I will definitely use them again.

Much improved service now

Just like everyone recently commented, it was off to a rocky start working with them for the sale of my flat, but Sharmeen joined towards the end of 2020 and she has been extremely proficient and helpful throughout the process and I would now recommend them.

They have sorted themselves out, well done.

Do not use David Ebert

I would strongly advise against using these solicitors.

I had one phone call in the entire SEVEN weeks that I had opened a case and I was contacting them. The solicitor confused my case completely when I finally got hold of her. My case was never progressed or worked upon in these 7 weeks and I have now been asking for a further four weeks for an update on my case, however, I have received NO CONTACT from them.

My house fell through and I received no contact or response to the four emails where I was stating this news to them. I then raised a complaint and they then try to claim that they were “letting me know” that my house fell through despite myself telling them four times during the week!

Please do not use this service. I would hate for anybody to experience what I have experienced with them. I am now going for advice against them to help me get my case which I paid £300 for. AVOID!
