I've conducted many funerals over the past 25 plus years with many funeral directors: David exemplifies the best of a funeral director- calm, compassionate & with a keen eye for detail. When I've worked with David, it's obvious that for him this is more than a job, but it is a vocation. I cannot speak too highly of him.

I would not hesitate to recommend David Knowles Funeral Service to my friends and family. I have known David personally for the last 32 years and can hand on heart say that he is 100% committed to providing the best possible service to families at the time of need. You will not find a nicer guy to help you through the arrangement of a funeral.

As an Anglican priest for some twenty years I have come across plenty of funeral directors in that time - and the very best are marked out by their compassion, their empathy and their gift for communication. It's been a real pleasure to get to know David in my almost three years as Rector of Yarm and he certainly has all the gifts and qualities one might desire in those called to care for bereaved families at their lowest moments. An absolute gentleman with a huge heart and a big smile. I wish him every possible success in his new venture.

I had the privilege of working alongside Dave for the last 15 months. His benchmark was to treat everyone who came into his care with the same respect, honour and dignity as would be afforded to a family member, exceptional in every way. His professionalism, passion, empathy, and conscientious approach were infectious, inspiring others to deliver the same quality of service. He was held in high esteem by his colleagues and I would have no hesitation in recommending Dave to family and friends.

Words can not express how highly we recommend David Knowles. As a family, we felt safely guided by him. Throughout the whole planning and implementation of our father's funeral, David was personable, empathetic and extremely professional. He always made himself available and dealt with any requests we made efficiently and promptly. Indeed, on the day of our dearly beloved father's funeral he conducted it on his day off. David was always five steps ahead of us and as such, the whole process ran faultlessly. There were a few technical difficulties our side - all of which were sorted and just disappeared under David's gentle care. By the end, we all felt David had become part of our family. We parted, thanking him with hugs - full of heartfelt appreciation and admiration for the important part he played in the whole journey. He made a difficult time actually a joyous memory for us. I have known David Knowles since he was a boy and he always had the ambition to be a Funeral Director. I am so thrilled for him that he has now got his own business, after working for 2 well know funeral companies, as this was his dream. He is dedicated, professional and excellent at his job. He has taken 2 family funerals for me and they were done to perfection. David understands the grieving people are going through and he is very helpful in achieving the funeral you want for your loved one. I have no hesitation in recommending David to deal with the funeral you require as it will be taken fully to your satisfaction. When I lost my lovely Dad I was, understandably heartbroken. I was also very anxious as I had never before had to organise a funeral. David Knowles came to visit me and my family at home to discuss our requirements. He was so warm, thoughtful and considerate that we were immediately put at ease. He was so patient, kind and understanding with my elderly (and very deaf) mum, and
helped us to make all the arrangements necessary.
On the day of my Dad's funeral, David carried out his duties with true professionalism. He was so very respectful and courteous, whilst still showing warmth and genuine support to us all. My Dad was treated with absolute dignity throughout and David helped us to ensure he got the send off that the family wanted and that he deserved .

David Knowles took care of my Mum's funeral. I could not fault the service. The attention to detail was exemplary and was perfectly accompanied by the personal care shown to all my family.

I want to write this review as I feel compelled to share my experiences as I believe that I was extremely fortunate to have had the care and services from David Knowles, I honestly don’t think I would have coped if it were not for him. I am aware that I asked a lot from him as I couldn’t cope with my loss at such a raw and heartbreaking time, but nothing, absolutely nothing was too much. He guided me and my mother through the hardest time of our lives, he took on every aspect of dad’s care from collection to walking in front of the hearse with uttermost respect shown throughout. I don’t write reviews very often but I feel this is one that could help someone in their time of need and I know how lucky and fortunate I was to have found him.
