Incredible experience with Detours Madagascar.

Super organization by Cynthia. Super flexible and attentive, organising the tour as we liked and giving great tips.

Extremely well guided by Tahiana during our 2 week trip. Super attention,very knowledgeable, always with a smile, ready to help (even helped me fixed my phone mid tour!) and probably the best driver in Madagascar 💯

When we come back we will repeat with Detours and hopefully Tahiana and Cynthia!

I had the incredible opportunity to embark on a 16-day tailored discovery tour between land and sea in northern Madagascar, organized by Détours Madagascar. From start to finish, the experience was seamless, thanks to their exceptional planning and genuine care.

From the moment I reached out to Détours Madagascar, Cynthia was exceptional. She was responsive, attentive, and incredibly organized. Every detail of our itinerary was meticulously planned, leaving me free to immerse myself in the beauty of Madagascar.

Le Belvedere (Nosy Be)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Staying at Le Belvédère felt like a tropical escape. The rooms were spacious and surrounded by a magnificent beach. Breakfasts here were a highlight, featuring fresh local fruits and delicious coffee.

The hospitality at this hotel was outstanding. The staff (Rosie & Marco) made us feel welcome and relaxed, and the location was perfect and quiet.

Rustic Lodges in Nature

The lodges during our excursions were exactly what I hoped for: comfortable, environmentally conscious, and perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings. Waking up to the sounds of wildlife was magical.

Tour Highlights
Nosy Be: A perfect blend of culture and relaxation, with lively markets and pristine beaches.
Nosy Iranja: Stunning marine reserves, with snorkeling at Nosy Tanikely being a standout experience. I even swam with a wild turtle.
Grey Tsingy, Ankarana, and the Amber Mountains: Unique landscapes that were as challenging as they were rewarding to explore.
Andasibe: Hearing the haunting calls of the Indri-Indri lemurs in this lush rainforest was unforgettable.

Review of Evarista (North)
Evarista brought so much positivity and care to our trip. Always on time and highly professional, he ensured that every journey was smooth and comfortable.

What made Evarista truly special was his genuine interest in making sure we were happy. He was always ready to accommodate any requests, from extra stops to taking photos. His friendly demeanor and ability to navigate even the most remote roads with ease made him a standout member of our trip.

Review of Harison (Antananarivo & East)
Harison was the perfect companion on this journey. As a driver, he was incredibly professional, punctual, and attentive. He made sure every trip felt safe and enjoyable, even with the little bumps we had with the car.

What set Harison apart was his warm personality and depth of knowledge about Madagascar. He didn’t just drive us—he engaged with us, sharing fascinating stories and insights about the places we visited. His kindness and sense of humor turned long drives into moments of joy. It felt like we were traveling with a lifelong friend.

Final Thoughts
Détours Madagascar exceeded all my expectations. From the incredible drivers (Harison and Evarista) to Cynthia’s flawless organization and the breathtaking destinations, this was the trip of a lifetime.

If you’re looking for a seamless, personalized, and immersive experience in Madagascar, I cannot recommend them enough!

Our experience was absolutely perfect. We had a tailor-made tour and they organized It down to the smallest details. Olive listened to our requested and create the perfect trip for us. It was an individual tour and our guide was always very professional and willing to respond to any request. He was extremely careful on the roads, and we appreciated that.
In addition, all the accomodations they choose were beautiful.
On the first days there was a change of an accomodation for reasons that didn't depend on them: they refunded us for a difference in price immediately.
This Is a sign of great professionalism and honesty.
We higly recommend this to everyone who is interested in visiting this stunning country because we absolutely loved their commitment to creating the perfect tour for us.

Perfect!! Hortencia from Detours was a life saver! We only mentioned what we want to do and see and she came with some customized options- perfect!!!! Also very flexible, we encountered some flight change and she could organize everything! The guides that we had were also very nice people. Very very very reliable. Honestly - impossible to enjoy Madagascar without her help!!!!

We had a wonderful 7 day tour in Madagascar with Detours exploring the East, Andasibe, the Pangalanes Canal and Sainte Marie. We travelled East from Antananarivo by 4 wheel drive, boats and various taxi's. It was exceptionally well organised and every step was managed by the company, we just had to turn up and the locals took care of our every need. The roads are very poor throughout but all the drivers took care to try and avoid the worst of it. There was even someone at the airport in Antananarivo to take us to our hotel when we returned from Saint Marie, which we weren't expecting.
Some of the journey wasn't particularly well explained beforehand and the journey from Tamatave began with a taxi pick up 2am which took us to a local bus depot. We set off at 3am and reached the port at 9.30am. If the timings of this leg had been explained during the booking process and lead up to the tour it may have put us off, but as it was everything went smoothly other than the roads! I think it would be prudent of the company to explain some of the journey times and start times within tour details. This part of the journey also took us to a different port as specified in the original details.
We put our faith in Cynthia who answered any queries during and after the booking. We would recommend them, just ask for a little more detail if you feel it's a bit vague.

Honest, organized and prepared. Detours will take you to areas that require that additional logistical effort and local knowledge. They establish durable relationships with their contacts in the field and appeared respectful of the ways locals like it. Possible that someone could offer more competitive versions of a trip but Detours demonstrated its worthiness through their preparedness on the ground and those aforementioned relationships. In our case they also proved very flexible in setting up a custom trip that met our initial requirements (group size, skillset, envies and schedule).
Communication of the general plan for our specific trip was a little fuzzy but in perspective that had more to do with people from different backgrounds learning to function in that group setting.
Also used Detours for additional front country touring after our hiking trip . We received good advice and had a smooth itinerary lined up. Pretty sharp given the possible unknowns you can encounter in Madagascar.

Detours Madagascar organised a tailor-made 7-day trip to Tsingy de Bemaraha for us. We stayed three days in Tsingies, one day in Kirindi and two days in Morondava. From the very beginning they were very responsive and quickly adapted the itinerary and hotels according to our requests. We were very happy with our driver and our guides. We highly recommend.
