I’m writing this review because my my 13 year-old friends were falsely accused of robbery of a Lego set and then rudely into a CCTV room as they then pushed and pushed and tried to cover for each other. It was it became clever and Clara that it was slightly racist and was targeting my mate. My mates are very angry. I want one of them even push my other mate this was the most horrible and racial disgusting pool in experience I’ve ever had. I will never come back on this ferry as it is racist and extremely biased it needs to be shut down and she needs to be fired thank you and this is why I’m giving my generous review of one star🤬🤬🤬
So this boat is very rude. The cashier accused my 13 year old friends of stealing this Lego set and then said let’s check the cameras upstairs.they then took them upstairs to apparently show them CCTV that they didn’t actually have so they lied about that and accused my mates but it turns out they actually bought it.apparently the cashiers that looked very similar swaped out coincidentally. Then they rudely apologised and did not even give money back or anything just a rude bad apology but actually they apologised to the teachers not my young mates.this is why I’m giving a generous review of one star.MY MATES ARE ABSOLUTELY APPALLED AND ANGRY!!!!! This is why I don’t recommend this ferry for future travels.(and maybe a little racist).
Absolutely appalling. Both of my friends was getting a Ferrari Lego set and Paid with cash and this lady cashier decided to accuse them of stealing. They were 12 and 13. They would never steal anything. They accused them stealing and took them into security room and framed them, they went on the cameras when they didn’t even have any cameras in the end they found that they did pay for it. It was a horrible experience and always bring receipts and don’t go here again. they framed my friends as well and said that they’ve stolen it they got them on camera and they didn’t even have them on camera. and they were racist to him because he was Asian. They made these guys cry and they were so upset.
Belinda at checking /bookings was amazing we were unable to sail with issue with dog Freya, she reassured us and re booked us next day and put on standby for pet friendly cabin which wasn't available at time of re booking so our dog would need to go in a kennel which was going to be very traumatic as she had never been in a kennel, the whole experience was very stressful and upsetting but Belinda was wonderful and did everything she could to help, we sailed the next day and a cabin became available, we cannot thank her enough and customs who put us at ease with another issue. Belinda you are a star and amazing at your job, I hope you read this. Thank you.
Efficient and comfortable crossing with good clean facilities. Would have given 5 stars if free or affordable drinking water was available. 500ml cost £2 . When I asked staff where I could fill my own water bottle I was directed to the TOILET! I feel this is un hygienic. Two staff told me there was drinking water in the toilet but the taps are warm water for hand washing.
telephone contact with customer service not good.
Last conversation was a with a trainee who was not knowledgable on my questions. An email came in from a William but it's impossible to respond directly to William, as it just goes back to a generic email.
Also his suggestion to use an insecure method of payment seems unprofessional.
I honestly don’t understand how these ferries are still operating. I always used to use DFDS Ferries, but I’ve been taking the train for the last few years. Out of curiosity, I compared the prices for this year today. Ticket prices are practically the same as the Eurotunnel, maybe a few pounds cheaper (I checked the exact same dates). A dog costs £6 more than on the Eurotunnel (and they have to sit alone in the car for two hours), plus the crossing takes an hour and a half longer. On top of that, there's that rat race just to grab a sofa to lie down on. One star for providing an alternative way to cross. I don’t see any other plus points...
Company maybe ok, but Dover port, full of chaos and poor quality to reach ferry!!!
Smooth sailing!
We purchased quite a bit of Duty Free for a forthcoming wedding. A very helpful and polite staff member called Julian helped us take it to our cars in order that we didn't have to carry it all around the boat with us.
That left it free to enjoy a smooth sailing on a beautiful sunny evening. Fabulous company for a day trip.
We had some issues whilst in the UK and had to move our return journey several times and they were so helpful, particularly a gentleman called Martin who was very patient and super helpful every time and a credit to the company
the Dover terminal, queuing process is awful. plenty of checking points but zero organised. staff dos not care , just avoid them.
It was a trouble free comfortable voyage in the executive club, which is well worth the surcharge. Time passed very quickly, rested and refreshed for the four hour journey ahead.
We travelled to France by ferry with our dog and paid extra for a pet-friendly cabin. The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, and had proper beds, so no complaints there.
However, the designated dog relief area was extremely small and located in what felt like an unsafe spot. Considering the high extra fees for pet-friendly cabins (£85+ on top of a passenger ticket that costs around €35), I expected much better facilities for pets. It honestly felt like the bare minimum was provided simply because pet owners have no other option.
If you choose not to book a cabin, your dog must either stay in the vehicle—which is unrealistic for a 3-hour crossing since cars are inaccessible and not running, meaning no air conditioning—or be left in the kennel area. Personally, I don’t think leaving a dog in a small cage in an unfamiliar environment is ideal either.
We were happy to pay the extra cost because having our dog with us on holiday is worth it, but I really think the ferry’s pet policies and facilities could be improved. Providing a cabin is appreciated, but limiting dogs to such a tiny toilet area does not feel fair and could be much better thought out.
Friendly staff at check in as we arrived early she put us on the earlier one, and young lady in 7 seas restaurant.
Easy booking and booking management via the DFDS app.
Easy check-in on arrival. On-time departures. Clean, comfortable and modern ferries. Well stocked duty free shops onboard. Good restaurant and food.
All good. I travel with DFDS frequently, having tried P&O, and Irish, and been disappointed with them.
Unfortunately Dunkirk border control is a joke - diversions signs fallen on the ground to get there, 5 border stops (the first one hadn't got a clue about needing a share code for an EU passport to UK). From Hoek v Holland it's organised but then it's not in France. The saving grace? Hourly crossings which is a life saver for 1000 mile away journeys. Would travel further to Le Shuttle but then we'd have to navigate French road signs!
Traveling with you was excellent and worth the 5 stars!
Unfortunately I cannot say how bad the situation was at the port of Calais was, poor signage for docking bays numbers 1100 upwards at the one roundabout?
A friendly and helpful chef at the cafe.
Cleanliness in the toilets was not good.
DFDS were fantastic, we unfortunately missed our ferry due to a breakdown and it was quick & easy to reschedule. Check in was painless and the kids got an activity pack too. Would recommend!
