They are not sending the tracking

They are not sending the tracking! The delivery guy is so much in a rush leaving! He rung our intercom so i ran immediately to the door, when I opened the door he was surprised as he was almost done writing the ‘we missed u’ note!!!!

Wrong Delivery Address

DHL was really good to start off with, very quick delivery, then was delivered to the wrong address along with driver signing for my package. thankfully customer service was awesome and helped solve my problem. but could’ve been an absolute shit show if didn’t work out.

Not good enough

My main issue with DHL is the ongoing lack of communication when additional documentation is required.

For the past five years, the same issue has occurred every Christmas: my shipment is placed on hold with no contact or notification from DHL to advise that further information is needed.

I receive shipments via DHL every 6–8 weeks from the same manufacturer throughout the year, and this problem only ever arises during the Christmas period, when a commercial invoice is required to process import duty. This is particularly frustrating, as my manufacturer has confirmed that a commercial invoice is attached to every shipment without exception. Yet, without fail, this issue seems to surface only at this time of year. We are not a retail customer, we paid just under $2000 to get these 8 cartons shipped. A simple email would have fixed this and we would have the shipment by now.

While I appreciate that it is a busy period, this does not excuse the lack of communication, especially considering the premium rates charged for DHL services. We are a business, and the delay to this shipment has directly affected 20 customers who are currently waiting for their orders.

If there is an issue, customers need to be informed. We cannot resolve a problem we are not made aware of.

Update after 24 hours

Twenty-four hours later, there still appears to be no urgency to resolve this issue, and I am continuing to wait for the import clearance to be completed. Unfortunately, this mirrors the same experience I have had for the past five years, where nothing progresses until staff return from the holiday period.

This lack of accountability is not limited to one department. We also have experienced delivery attempts being falsely marked as “business closed”, despite the premises being open during the Christmas, New Year period. This week alone, I have received two successful shipments from FedEx, which highlights that alternative couriers are capable of delivering during this period. As a result, I will be using FedEx going forward.

Additionally, while I understand that delays may occur when additional information is required, there is no clear reason why the shipment must remain in Auckland during this process. Forwarding it to its destination city would reduce unnecessary delays and seems like a practical solution.

Update #2

It has now been three days since DHL reopened following the holidays. I emailed the requested commercial invoice immediately and followed up with a phone call, during which I was advised the matter could take up to 24 hours to resolve. Despite this, there has still been no progress.

By the time this issue is finally addressed, the shipment will be an entire week late. This level of service is unacceptable, and I will continue to update this review until the matter is resolved.

Update #3

I followed up again this morning, six days after discovering—through my own diligence—that additional paperwork was required for this shipment to move. Unfortunately, there has been no progress, and I am effectively in the same position as I was six days ago, despite being advised that this would be resolved within 24 hours.

At this point, I will be calling regularly until this is actioned and the shipment is moved.

Again, I will update this review as I know DHL management monitor this platform. Just to be clear, this 8 carton shipment arrived in Auckland on the 26th December, it is now the 5th January.

Well, hopefully this is the final update. After 11 days, DHL has finally sent me the import duty invoice to pay. One email would have fixed this, and I would have sent you the required information. Just because it is Christmas does not excuse no contact and leaving my shipment for so long.

It took 3 days to ship from South Korea to Auckland, then 13 days, and it is still currently in Auckland.

Maybe management, if you read this. How about reviewing a very annoying issue you cause by penalising Christchurch businesses when your staff are incapable of doing their job correctly. Send shipments to the destination, then when your staff decide their Christmas break is over, we can collect the shipment straight away, rather than waiting another day or two until it arrives at the destination it was supposed to be delivered to.

New update.

Well, I was hoping the incompetence was over, but no. It is now another day into my shipment to be released from Auckland, so day 14. One of the 8 cartons has just arrived, and what a surprise, it's the only box I do not need urgently!

This is exactly why holding shipments in Auckland instead of the destination city is so ridiculous. When DHL finally get it together and issues my import certificates, and I pay instantly, I still have at least a 48-hour wait after this minimum now, until you fix this.

Exceptional service

I have never had such good service from a delivery company. It was a bit tricky as I had arranged for a delivery to a hall of residence that was then shut for Christmas and I got confused with changing details online - so rang customer service who then rang the delivery driver, who rang me when he was there. Absolutely fantastic.

Go elsewhere - Anywhere

DHL has got to be one of the most incompetent company's that I have ever come across. I would highly highly highly highly recommend not ever using them - try anyone else you can. They were so bad I literally wondered if they were a scam. Customer Service screwed up at every single stage, then tried to charge us for the delay, it was an absolute shambles!!!

A wonderful DHL experience

I dropped off a parcel to be shipped to Melbourne this morning, (Wed 17th), at the DHL service counter, in Laurence Stevens Drive, AK airport.
The young lady who served me was a delight.
She knew exactly what needed to be done and did it with a beaming smile and great courtesy.
She had an infectious happiness about her.
She is a great credit to the company.

Simply awful

Simply awful. The parcel arrived in the country and then, for some reason, Customs requested ID — even though I’d already provided my driver’s licence details to DHL and DHL confirmed they had them.

I’ve sent multiple emails and even called. Each time I was reassured someone would get back to me shortly, but I’ve had no response whatsoever. Meanwhile, the parcel has been sitting in Customs for a week.

Don't ever use them.

The Service I received from Sonam. SONAM…

The Service I received from Sonam from the Hamilton branch was exceptional.
When I arrived with my rather large Parcel, Sonam observed I had a Splint on my injured hand and she came out to my car and carried the Parcel inside.
Sonam was also exceptionally helpful with getting my Parcel on the way to Australia after a delay due to requiring the approval from the Dangerous Goods department.
Her pleasant, professional manner was second to none.😊

Useless DHL

No stars

DHL is a headache!

They don’t follow ATL instructions. One package was in my mailbox. Another on the side of my Garage that we don’t go.

I even complained to the Branch Manager. I got a response from Harsika Patel, who said would investigate. I’m been waiting and emailing him for an update. I get an Out-of-Office from him that he is on leave until October? It’s November!

DHL is a snail. I track my parcels. It says it’s with the driver to be delivered. Yet it doesn’t get delivered until I have to call in because it’s end of day. I waste my time waiting the whole day too

I would NEVER use DHL

DHL can be extremely slow at times

DHL can be extremely slow at times, and as soon as things don’t go as planned, they completely fail to deliver parcels in a reasonable timeframe. The worst part is that their staff seems indifferent to the problem and simply doesn’t care. Over time, they will decline just like their home country, Germany.

After completion of paperwork 3 days ago he send them e - mail and they still don't respond , this is a Behavioral issue, not Acceptable , I Would not Recomend Dhl and Swithing to Fed Ex see if they are better.Dhl NZ I phoned you guys now 3 × and you have not respond , I spoke to Paul.
It is disgusting man .
